Media Natters, Rubio’s Mormonism, and Obama’s “Muslim Faith”

© Miri WTPOTUS February 24, 2012

Here’s an interesting story about Barack Hussein Obama II, the likes of which you’ve likely never read before:

In the compelling fictional personal narrative that has helped propel Illinois Senator Barack Hussein Obama II into the Oval Office, one chapter has gone completely untold: Obama spent much of his childhood as a faithful Muslim, singing the Shahada and memorizing the Koran.

Obama was inducted into the Muslim faith when he was adopted by his mother’s second husband, Lolo Soetoro, made a citizen of Indonesia named Barry Soetoro, and registered in Indonesian public school as a Muslim student.  He practiced Islam from ages 6 to 10, at least, although he may have remained active in the faith well into adulthood, when he joined the black nationalist Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago about 20 years ago, a church that accepted Muslims, although nominally a Christian church.

Obama spokespersons refuse to confirm the story, inexplicably stating that Obama has “never been a Muslim.”

The revelation adds a new dimension to Obama’s already-nuanced religious history—and could complicate his political future and his reelection prospects at a time when many Americans are taking a second look at the community organizer from Chicago.

If Americans had known for certain that Obama was Muslim as a child, that he held Indonesian as well as British and Kenyan citizenships, and that he belonged to socialist and communist organizations and political parties, they may have refused to vote him into the presidency.

That’s a story you will be hard pressed to find anywhere but here because it’s a parody, although absolutely true.   You’ll never see any story like mine in the Obama-complicit, nattering media.  Yesterday, Bridgette alerted us to a story at The Blaze that analyzed a story at a “social content” aggregator, which told us that, as a child, Senator Marco Rubio belonged for a time to the Mormon faith.  What the self-described reporter, McKay Coppins, wrote was the template for my parody:

In the compelling personal narrative that has helped propel Florida Senator Marco Rubio to national political stardom, one chapter has gone completely untold: Rubio spent his childhood as a faithful Mormon.

Rubio was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with his family at around the age of eight, and remained active in the faith for a number of years during his early youth, family members told BuzzFeed.

Rubio spokesman Alex Conant confirmed the story to BuzzFeed, and said Rubio returned to the Catholic church a few years later with his family, receiving his first communion on Christmas day in 1984 at the age of 13.

The revelation adds a new dimension to Rubio’s already-nuanced religious history—and could complicate his political future at a time when many Republicans see him as the odds-on favorite for the 2012 vice presidential nod. Vice presidential candidates are traditionally chosen to provide ethnic and religious balance to a ticket. Mitt Romney’s Mormonism and Rubio’s Catholic faith would already mean the first two members of minority traditions on a Republican ticket in American history. Rubio’s Mormon roots could further complicate that calculation.

Do you see any hesitation there to analyze Rubio’s religion?  Any hesitation to criticize this Hispanic man or to question his faith?  Any fear of looking anti-Mormon, anti-Christian, anti-Catholic, anti-Latino, anti-person of color?

During the 2008 campaign, we were warned that Obama’s religion was off limits for discussion and that anyone who doubted his “faith” was a racist bigot.  Similarly, his attendance for 20 years at the church of “Reverend” Jeremiah Wright was also off limits for discussion.

To try to connect Obama to his long-time friend and mentor revealed a deep-seated hatred of blacks, when in fact, it was “Reverend” Wright himself who more than amply displayed his own racism against whites as well as his apparent hatred of this country and all She stands for.

Obama Truth Squads comprised of prosecutors, sheriffs, and other members of law enforcement, among others (many in the nattering media), were tasked with covering up Obama’s Muslim background, even though Obama himself made an infamous Freudian slip (“my Muslim faith“) while speaking to friendly “reporter” George Stephanopoulis, who quickly “corrected” him.  These Truth Squads were sent out to intimidate anyone who even implied that Obama is not a Christian or that he’s not a citizen of the USA.  By the way, the truth squads are back in time for this election.   In his article, Coppins revealed that

The story of Rubio’s conversion to Mormonism, his enthusiastic immersion in LDS adolescent life, and his eventual departure from the church was recently related to BuzzFeed by two of the Senator’s first cousins, Mo Denis, a Democratic State Senator in Nevada, and his sister Michelle—both of whom were close to his family at the time.

Most in the USA didn’t read the interviews of Obama’s childhood friends, which were reported in the Indonesian media.  In those interviews, his friends revealed Obama’s “enthusiastic immersion” in Islam. How he and Lolo would walk hand in hand to the mosque. How Barry studied the Koran and regularly wore Muslim garb.  How devout Barry was.

The fact that BuzzFeed was talking to Rubio’s cousins is interesting, in light of revelations by Tucker Carlson of the Daily Caller about Media Matters. In his story, Carlson reports that Media Matters discussed hiring private detectives to investigate the private lives of reporters at FOX News.  Furthermore, the Daily Caller reports, in a series of articles, that Media Matters, supposedly a non-partisan, tax-exempt organization, seems to have coordinated its pro-Obama activities with the White House.  The entire series is well worth reading.  It’s certainly not a stretch to imagine that groups like Media Matters investigate Obama’s opponents as well as reporters who actually do their jobs in a “fair and balanced” way.  Why would these reporters at BuzzFeed be talking to Rubio’s cousins?  Why do reporters dig through Sarah Palin’s trash?  Why do they interview her daughter’s boyfriend’s mother?  Why do paid obots try to unethically obtain information about a “birther’s” private bank account? Bridgette’s posts about Media Matters and the Journolist  are also well worth re-reading for perspective.

After the story about Rubio’s childhood religion (for 3 years, beginning at age 8) was published at BuzzFeed, it was very quickly picked up by multiple “mainstream” nattering media outlets, among them RealClearPolitics, MSNBC, ABC News, USA Today, The Miami Herald, The Hill’s Blog Briefing Room, among others.  How many mainstream media outlets covered the story of Barry’s Muslim faith during his childhood?  The USA Today story is particularly interesting in light of this paragraph:

It is the second time that Rubio’s biography has garnered media attention. The Washington Post reported last October on factual errors in the senator’s oft-told account of his parents’ migration from Cuba to the United States in the 1950s.

I don’t recall much criticism in USA Today or The Washington Post about the too-numerous-to-count “factual errors” in Obama’s autobiography.  Wait!  What?  Senator Rubio didn’t think to absolve himself of “factual errors” by including a disclaimer at the front of his biographies, calling them memoirs that refer to composite characters and made-up conversations?  Too bad.

Unlike Obama, Rubio’s documentation seems to have been placed under scrutiny by the nattering media, quite unlike how they treat Obama who, to this day, 4 years later, still refuses to show the public his birth certificates, his college transcripts, his records from when he was a senator, his medical records, and a long list of other missing documents.  In fact, Obama recently ignored a legal subpoena to produce some of some of this paperwork to a Georgia state court.

Didn’t know about that?  That’s because the nattering media ignored that story, too.  They don’t bother themselves to even try to locate “naturalization papers and other official records” that could reveal how Obama “embellishes the facts” about his own biography.  You gotta ask yourself, “Why?”

The Miami Herald’s headline salivates over

what other surprises may be in his [Rubio’s] past.

They seem to have little curiosity about what “surprises” may lurk in Obama’s past. (Let’s hope Sheriff Arpaio’s press conference on March 1 reveals some of those surprises.)  Look at how The Washington Post spins the Rubio story today:

Along with the inconsistencies in his accounts of his parents’ journey from Cuba to America, it could feed into the idea that he shapes his own history for his political convenience. But most successful politicians focus on certain parts of their biographies and tailor their focus for their audiences (including President Obama.)

And Rubio’s hardly the first politician with a complicated religious history — Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback (R) converted to Catholicism but still attends an evangelical church.

So while Rubio’s Mormon past adds a fascinating twist to the story of the Republican rising star, it’s not likely to stop that rise.

Oddly enough, their story links to Janny Scott’s fawning biography of Stanley Ann Dunham, as an example of how Obama “tailors” the “focus” onto certain parts of his biography.  What do they know about Obama’s connection to the Janny Scott biography?  We know what we suspect, but what do they know?

One must wonder why this sudden interest by WaPo reporter Rachel Weiner to seem even handed.  Has the backlash from Catholics, Mormons, Baptists, and Hispanics already begun?

Media matters. Indeed it does, as any Alinsky acolyte will tell you.  They learn that at the community organizer’s knee.  Thus, the blatant propaganda spewed forth by our nattering media today. They truly ought to be ashamed, considering the sacred trust granted to them by the First Amendment of the Constitution, which they seem to spit upon.

Media matters; but most often, our media natters

Update 02/29/2012 Obama’s teacher and the Indonesian school principal, Tine Hahiyary, reported that he took “mengaji classes” where only the most devout of Islamic students MEMORIZE the Koran and recite it in Arabic, with perfect accents.  Was she lying or was he?

  1. You knocked it out of the park, Miri! Your story shows honesty and truthfulness in what we can determine with the onslaught of phony documents, family, and articles written to cover up Obama’s past or who he really is. I hope people post your story everywhere!

Everyone must remember that Rubio can hold any cabinet position, but he CAN NOT be nominated for V.P or President. He is not eligible according to the Supreme Court decision of Minor v Happersett. His parents were not naturalized before he was born. Period.

I heard Hannity again pushing for him to be VP. How many letters have been sent to him telling him Marco is not eligible but he keeps spouting the meme? Yet he is supposed to be the ultra conservative?

I think we need another slew of emails sent to Sean so he can get the message..unless he is thinking that the Georgia court cleared it all up instead of them muddying the waters.

    • TY. I didn’t mention that Rubio isn’t a natural born citizen, but that’s a good thing to keep in mind.

I wondered, as I published, if that explains why the media natterers might now regret jumping onto this story. If it works TOO WELL, then Rubio may not be chosen. Then, they won’t be able to compare his status to Barry’s and call everything equal.

They’re trying to add to the Media Natters meme that the Republican field is in chaos. They hope somehow that will help Barry.

There were two examples of the media helping/covering for Barry just yesterday. NBC Nightly News. Brian Williams. He’s nearly responsible for me choking to death. They’re talking about gas prices. (btw, $1.81 as GWB left office; now closing in on $5.00 in some locations.) I knew what he’d say before he said it, but I nearly choked, anyway.

Lest anybody pin it on Barry’s policies (under his plan energy will “necessarily skyrocket”) Williams said it was the fault of the gas companies and “speculators”, even though the Wall Street Journal, which should know because it’s what they do, says it’s because of Iran; the global market; the fact that oil prices, unlike in the past, now comprise 75% of the prices that we see at the pump; and the fact that China is using more oil. However, doubtless the talking points have gone out and it’s the “EVIL CAPITALIST OIL COMPANIES” and SPECULATORS (MORE CAPITALISTS) to blame for you paying more for gas. This is the COMMUNIST meme. What’s next? Will Barry’s solution be to TAKE OVER AND NATIONALIZE THE OIL COMPANIES? Wait for it.

Second by NBC’s Brian Williams: He’s talking about the “contraceptive controversy” that (I swear I’m not making this up) he said “just came out of nowhere.” YUP! George Stephanopoulis asked at a Republican debate, weeks ago, about contraception. Romney even asked him why because NOBODY’S talking about contraception. But they’ve been outed now. It was A PLAN. Georgie was in on it. They wanted to use it to attack Santorum and Romney. To attack ALL Republicans. To divide Americans by sex. To gin up Barry’s base among women. To create an enemy for women so they don’t notice who the real enemy is (DemocRATS who want women to die and who promote the soft bigotry of contraceptive eugenics).

Then NBC proceeded to show the astroturfed “grassroots” demonstrations by women against Republicans who, they lie, want to take away their contraception. Total lie. We just don’t want to PAY FOR YOUR CONTRACEPTION, JERKS!

Then NBC showed the STAGED, KABUKI THEATRE of women representatives walking out of the Congressional hearing about forcing insurance companies to pay for contraception.

I wonder if Williams knows what he’s doing or if he just reads whatever script is handed to him, without knowing where it was written (Media Matters, the WH, or the Journolist. Take your choice.) George Soros, perhaps.

      • How in the world did you end up watching the National Broadcasters of Communism network? It had to be by pure accident. But then, it is good every once in awhile to listen to how their propaganda is being spread. A few trips to some leftist blogs lets you know what their talking points are. There is repetition repeatedly. They can change the titles, but how the administration wants the article to read has been outlined for them. It has already been shown that NBC is run and scripted by the administration. Isn’t it great that the radical leftist have their own network. They are total Commie Tools.

        • Don’t ask. Hubby puts it on. Not my choice. (Actually, to be fair, he watches the local news and Brian comes on after that.) I couldn’t bring myself to watch O’Reilly last night because I KNOW he’ll be getting the “talking points”. EVERY TIME gas goes up, O’Reilly goes into his “speculators” meme.

    • Thanks, foxy. That’s where I read that Stephanopoulis got the memo. And it certainly rings true, doesn’t it?

“It started out with a conflict between the Obama administration and the Catholic Church – but sure as sh-t the Obama team and the media have turned it into an issue over contraception and are painting the Republicans as these out of touch Bible thumpin’ radicals who want to take away women’s birth control. That is how this thing is being framed NOW – and it’s exactly how Stephanopoulos framed the question THEN over two months ago. This issue was being set up the whole time. And did you notice who was involved in the debate question first? What candidate?

      UM: Santorum. Damn…it was Santorum.

Insider: Ah – there’s your light bulb moment for the day! Now you’re seein’ it! Back then – at that time two months ago, it seemed like they were going after Romney right? But what candidate – who it would seem is most vulnerable to the contraception issue…what candidate has seen a huge surge in support since that same debate where the seemingly silly and out of place topic of contraception was raised by a former Clinton operative mind you…what candidate is now posing perhaps the strongest challenge yet to Mitt Romney for the GOP nomination?

      UM: Santorum.

Insider: And what candidate is most vulnerable to this bullsh-t contraception issue – at least in how the Democrats and the media are now framing it?

      UM: Santorum.

Insider: There you go. Classic political pump and dump.”

        • Miri, you are getting too good at predicting the OButts! They definitely have a patterned modus operandi that is predicable..

I can’t believe they are still going after Palin and wanting to smear her some more by reading her old emails. They haven’t found pay dirt yet..but that isn’t going to stop them from looking for one little sentence that they could use for something. Or taking a sentence out of context and using it too. How many $8/hr Obutts do they have reading through emails? I wonder if any details will come out in Brock’s book.. that will be juicy to see if it all connects to say Valerie Jarrett or Anita Dunn. But who will file the darn charges? I guess we have to see if Judicial Watch does something.

There is so much material on Obama’s cesspool…they should look in their own communist backyard.

          • They must be afraid that a brokered convention might lead to Sarah being drafted for POTUS or VP again. Can you imagine them quaking in their boots at a Gingrich/Palin ticket? Oh, how much fun would that be?

Judicial Watch? It’s interesting that just yesterday, we learned that way back in 1998, this inchoate Media Natters/Journolist cabal was going after Larry Klayman. Spying on HIM. Talking to his brother, even, trying to find dirt. All because Klayman went after the Clintons over those FBI files. The machine was already in place for Barry.

            • It’s worth remembering that Hillary told Andrea Mitchell that she helped found Media Natters in response to the imagined vast right-wing conspiracy. And also that Stephanopoulos was in the Clinton administration and so knows all about archenemy Klayman, who now is taking up the cause of the ballot challenges.

          • Gingrich/Palin!!!
            Santorum/Ryan (he’s the dreamiest

      • Rosemary Woodhouse

Sounds more and more like James Carville. Used to think it was Rahm, but my money is on Carville. Plus, being a Clinton team member he has has additional incentive to despise 0.

        • I thought it was Harold Ickes until they brought back the Carville dialect.

Mary and Jim. Remember how we were so shocked at such Twister?
a phenomena, back in the day. speaking of the name deleted-head.

        • I don’t think it is Carville because he is part of the morning coffee group of 4 that chats about how they are going to spin the news everyday. I forgot who the four are.. Carville, Georgie S, and… They were exposed a long time ago.

To bad there isn’t an audio to hear the heavy LA accent, and some of his idioms don’t come through in the writing. Carville is definitely a democratic operative. Remember his rant over the oil spill. To Obama, “We need help down here!

          • as much as i am enthralled with UM and WHI, I believe they are committing treason. if there is a grain of sand of truth in those articles, they are complicit.

UM could be Joe Klein, again, for all we know.

misprison of felony, on the record.

        • Ya think? Well, he is married to Mary, who’s supposed to be a conservative. Maybe she’s rubbing off on him?

An example of astroturfing and how the media deflects, distracts, and lies for Obama. Romney presents his economic plan, but they focus on an off-hand remark about how his wife drives a “couple of Cadillacs” (I hope not at the same time)! I suppose their point is that he’s an effete, wealthy snob, out of touch with the little people. But somehow, when Barry and wife, on OUR DIME, put on soirees in OUR HOUSE, like the recent blues fest with Mick Jagger, that’s not effete snobbery! And when they tout people who drive those green cars that cost far more than a Caddy, those people aren’t effete snobs, either. Huh? Anything to distract from Romney’s MESSAGE. Do you think that Twitter avalanche was astroturfed? Nah.

Read today that companies are being strong-armed via “” to not oppose legislation that let’s Barry regulate rental cars. Yep. Rental cars. You think that’s not astroturfed? There was a petition. The companies buckled under 130,000 people who signed it. How many people live in this country?

It’s of a piece how they LIE that the Occupy protests were NOT organized. We’re peaceful. We’re grassroots. They LIE.

  3. the ows was started and is part of the big O reelection campaign 👿

  4. oh sorry my bad.I will check it out. 🙂

    • Excellent graphs of America’s decline under the radical democrats. They are responsible! Why? Because they took control of Congress under Pelosi in 2006 with Harry in the Senate. They have been ruining the system as fast as they could. The final nail in their coffin is putting ineligible Obama on the ballot.

How many Republican passed House bills are sitting in the Senate that Harry refuses to acknowledge? Who is really the party of destruction and obstruction?

      • where is the budget?

when was the last budget proposed and implemented?

        when, again?
oh, their job. uhm, dereliction of duty. in your face.

and who was legislating whence Bush was in office, again?

        i’m dense.

  5. lots of others too. 🙂
A challenge to Obama’s eligibility has recently been filed in Indiana. Other challenges to his candidacy have been filed in Missouri, New Hampshire, Illinois, California, New Mexico, New York, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Texas.

In regard to his plan to move forward his eligibility challenge against Obama in Georgia, Judy stated, “I think it will be the first time a State Court has had the opportunity to consider all the evidence, with the requirements of ‘competitive standing’ and ‘political doctrine question’ answered for them, that normally get put into Fed

  7. i have one green eye and one brown eye. i would have be burnt at the stake. i should sue my Mom.

  8. for the first time in my adult life I understand why they rounded up the Japanese after they assaulted us.

    they had to.

  9. Iran says burn down the WH,
will Barry warn us or just start lighting the drapes? 🙂

    • A tidbit of information that stays in my head for some reason..Iran has never started a war in over 200 years. Yes, they sponsor terrorism, but want others to do the dirty work. They are lots of bluster and haughty belligerence, and like to show they have some military might, but it is a TV show for their people. Yes, they do have the trained troops but they don’t have the experience of participating in other wars. Yet if there are real sanctions and food begins to get scarce, (and I don’t know if food is being cut off) there might be another internal uprising, rather than one that is against other countries.

Did you ever notice that Obama and Iamanut job smile about things in an abnormal fashion?

  10. M & M
    Not the sweet,
    Mitt and Barack
    Does it matter?
One is a liar, a total dirty liar,
    and that matters.

  11. The Backlash begins for not only Media Matters but for Obama. The Jews are going to get the real story! A noted Liberal Jew , Dershowitz, now has an agenda.

Media Matters to Dershowitz: ‘Go to hell’
Group’s top official calls Netanyahu ‘terrorist,’ hails Helen Thomas
    Feb. 29 Snips

In its first response to the controversy surrounding the organization, a top Media Matters for America official yesterday told one of his group’s main detractors to “go to hell.”

“Best way to tell Dershowitz to go to hell (1) picket his classroom or (2) tell your friends to follow me on twitter,” tweeted Media Matters Action Network senior fellow M.J. Rosenberg, referring to liberal Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz.

On Sunday, Dershowitz was in the news after he told WABC Radio host Aaron Klein, who doubles as WND’s senior reporter, that he will personally make the Media Matters for America controversy into a re-election issue for President Obama. Dershowitz took particular issue with Media Matters coverage of Israel, including rhetoric from Rosenberg, who is known for his extreme anti-Israel views.
“Not only will [the Media Matters controversy] be an election matter, I will personally make it an election matter,” Dershowitz told Klein.

Continued Dershowitz: “I will speak to every Jewish group that invites me, and I think it’s fair to say I speak to more Jewish groups than probably any other person in the world. I spoke to over a million Jews over the years. You know, just last Thursday I spoke to 1,200, just in the next weeks alone I’ll be speaking and in the past weeks to thousands of American Jews. And believe me, I will not let them ignore this issue.”

Dershowitz contended many donors to Media Matters didn’t know the group would take such extremist positions. [Guess they weren’t reading!]

“I don’t know whether President Obama has any idea that Media Matters has turned the corner against Israel in this way,” [DUH, they are just following their leader!] Dershowitz said. “I can tell you this: He will know very shortly, because I am beginning a serious campaign on this issue, and I will not let it drop until and unless Rosenberg is fired from Media Matters, or Media Matters changes its policy or the White House disassociates itself from Media Matters.” [Them be fighting words!]

    • There was always something I liked about Dershowitz, despite all the many times I disagreed with him. Maybe it’s because he at least TRIED to strive for intellectual honesty. This is so funny to see that “circular firing squads” aren’t unique to the “birther movement.” (Sorry for using that word, but it seemed apt in this case.) It’s funny, also, to see the DemocRATS having their own tactics used against them. Boycotts, disruption, Twitter flash mobs. Who’d’ve thought?

    • I know of Dershowitz…he is the a Harvard professor who was caught plagiarizing information in one of his books. Then his friend, Laurence Tribe, (also a good buddy of Obama) was caught plagiarizing also. Dershowitz supported his buddy Tribe when he was caught. (Oh the irony.) Of course, it was an error in Tribe’s sloppy footnotes for which he took Full responsibility! Neither professor was reprimanded for violating the honor code that gets students at Harvard kicked out. In fact, then Tribe had a chair endowed in his name. An anonymous donor gave $10 million for that chair.

Whatever Dershowitz can do to bring down Media Matters..more power to him! We will find it as enjoyable watching it happen as they do in ridiculing the right wing. The Left chewing on their own!
