Tomorrow is the feast of St. Nicholas–the man who gave rise to the legend of Santa Claus.
Wikipedia provides some background:
Saint Nicholas of Myra (traditionally 15 March 270 – 6 December 343), also known as Nicholas of Bari, was an early Christianbishopof the ancient Greek city of Myra in Asia Minor (modern-day Demre, Turkey) during the time of the Roman Empire. He is revered by many Christians as a saint. Because of the many miracles attributed to his intercession, he is also known as Nicholas the Wonderworker. Saint Nicholas is the patron saint of sailors, merchants, archers, repentant thieves, children, brewers, pawnbrokers, and students in various cities and countries around Europe. His reputation evolved among the faithful, as was common for early Christian saints, and his legendary habit of secret gift-giving gave rise to the traditional model of Santa Claus (“Saint Nick”) through Sinterklaas.
The image at the top of this post shows Nicholas surreptitiously tossing a bag of gold coins through the window of a poor widower, to provide dowries for his three daughters. (He doesn’t look much like the Santa Claus we know!)
St. Nicholas also is said to have placed coins in the shoes of sleeping children. And so, even today, children put their shoes out in a prominent location on the Eve of St. Nicholas Day, hoping that he will leave a coin or a treat for them.
There’s also a sinister side to traditions surrounding St. Nicholas:
In Germanic countries, St. Nicholas is accompanied by Krampus, an evil spirit or little devil, usually dressed in fur or black with a long tail, and carries a rattling chain, birch branches and a big black bag. … St. Nicholas Eve is known in some rural areas of Austria as “Krampus Day.” Children and adults go to the village square to throw snowballs and try to chase off Krampus. Other Krampuses lie in wait, rattling their chains and threatening to carry off naughty children in their black bags, or to punish them with their birch branches. All this is done in fun; Krampus’ main purpose is remind the children to be good.
Now that’s creepy!

I see your point. I was pondering this more since I answered before. Again, we need more specifications from Santa! Does he want a list of only those kids who are naughty or does he want two lists–one of kids who are naughty and another of the kids who are nice? The problem is the song says “a” list. So maybe his list has all the kids names on it and some sort of flag after each kid, denoting “naughty” or “nice.” We need parentheses on the “if” then “else.” If “naughty,” then the kid goes on the list. If not naughty? Gets a visit from Santa. But there’s still a big universe of kids who are both naughty (sometimes) and nice (other times) and probably it’s pretty rare to have any kid who’s always nice. He’s going to find out who is naughty or nice. I take that to mean he’s testing each kid individually, but I see your point about if he’s looking at the entire collection of kids, and he has to determine who is naughty and who is nice. Semantics. 🙂 Songwriters really aren’t noted for being literal.

Although some say he DOES have prosecutors who can prosecute, but something tells me nobody’s going to prosecute. The Flynn sentencing is such a joke. The judge who’s overseeing it has to also be a joke because right in the filing from the DOJ, they ADMIT that he was not treated fairly. McCabe actually TOLD HIM he didn’t need a lawyer! They also decided NOT to advise him, as per policy, that he was at jeopardy of being charged with perjury if he wasn’t truthful in every detail. They led him to believe they were just coming over to talk to him, maybe as part of the transition, and he even took them (STRZOK and “another” agent) on a TOUR of the White House! So this judge knows that nothing was regular and this was BEYOND a perjury trap. Then there’s the FACT that the 302 report is dated 7 months (iirc) AFTER the interview took place, so where did the first one go and if there was no first report, why did the agents wait 7 months to write their report when surely THAT is outside the bounds of procedure. Who remembers details of an interview 7 months later? This judge SHOULD throw out ALL the charges against him because of the way this was done. What would happen in a case of an ordinary criminal who was interviewed by the police when they specifically told him not that he has a right to a lawyer but that he doesn’t NEED a lawyer? The case would be summarily dismissed. Same if they didn’t read the guy his RIGHTS. Any judge with an ounce of integrity would dismiss the charges and let Flynn go completely, not continue on with sentencing him for a non-crime (in the first place) but especially when the FBI abused their authority and violated his rights. IF the judge sentences him, it’s simply more evidence that there’s a Deep State that includes not only the executive branch but also the judiciary and both are complicit in trying to usurp the will of the People in violation of our Constitution and everything we hold dear.

So let’s play out a possible scenario here:
Flynn was a plant all along.
The original 302 says that there was no lying or deception in his interview.
Then they decide, when they have nothing else, to charge him with lying, so they do.
Then, inexplicably, they tell the judge straight out that they violated his Constitutional rights to an attorney (no mistake–PLANNED) and that (also planned) they deliberately didn’t basically read him his rights.
Now, maybe, the judge dismisses the case, AFTER MUELLER, though, gets a “guilty” plea from him, thus having something to tar Trump with, even though there are no repercussions for Flynn.
I have always had a sneaking suspicion that this guy was a plant. Possibly the others, too. Papadopoulos and Page. And then there’s Manafort, who, iirc, was involved with Ukraine along with the Podestas and Clinton and somehow also is tied to Mueller (except I don’t remember the details). Just a theory of mine. What else can explain this stuff? WHY do they so openly admit that THEY violated his Constitutional rights and WHY aren’t THEY being charged with that crime, which is arguably much worse in the big scheme of things than not remembering what you said in a conversation with “a” Russian? Supposedly Flynn was covering for Pence, who said (to a reporter, not under oath) that nobody in the campaign was in touch with Russians WHO WERE MEDDLING IN THE ELECTION (not just any Russian). That was TRUTH, not a lie. Who is going to be charged with the OTHER CRIME, which was LEAKING THE CONTENTS OF FLYNN’S CONVERSATION WITH KISLYAK (I hope that’s spelled right) that was ILLEGALLY UNMASKED AND DISSEMINATED?
