Why Red Flag Laws Won’t Work

After the elementary school shooting in Uvalde, TX, an allegedly “bipartisan” group of legislators are trying to come up with new gun laws to, in their minds, stop such incidents. Among their ideas: “red flag laws” at the state and federal levels.

Obama’s Executive Actions to Take Guns from Social Security Recipients?

Social_Security_Cards - Copy

I couldn’t and wouldn’t watch Barack Obama’s town hall about his recent executive actions concerning guns. (Note: They are actions, not executive orders. To date, there’s no officially published executive ORDER on this topic at the White House website.)

In the course of the town hall, did anyone mention the Obama policy to  encourage the Social Security Administration to rat out beneficiaries who have others handling their financial affairs, for any reason? I’ll bet not.

Gun “Laws” and the Constitution

We the people American Constitution with feather pen

Some states intend to “explore” ways to block those on terror watch lists from buying guns. Already, according to this story, the state of New Jersey blocks people on the list from purchasing guns, something which would seem to be unconstitutional. Consider the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution:

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Owning a gun is a Constitutional right, not just a privilege, like driving a car. In addition, the Constitution requires “due process”, which is not something that occurs when someone is added to terror watch lists by anonymous bureaucrats.

Will Police Stand Up or Stand Down?

standing - Copy

If we’ve learned anything from the civil unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, it’s this: When you need them, the police may not stand up to protect you or your property. If you own a home, you probably pay your property taxes. If you own a business, you probably pay your business taxes. If it’s required in your city, county, or state, you probably pay income taxes and other taxes as well. As a good citizen, you probably also pay your federal income taxes.

In return, the deal that you may believe exists between you and your various governments is that the taxes you pay will fund anything necessary to ensure a civil society, including the various police forces, which exist to ensure tranquility (to keep the peace), to enforce the law, and to protect life and property. In other words, to protect and serve. To ensure Law and Order.

Or, at least that’s what we all used to believe.

Starbucks Put through the Grinder (Open Thread)

On Tuesday, the CEO of Starbucks, Howard Schultz, published an open letter attempting to explain his company’s latest approach to the “open carry” issue.  The company finds itself in an awkward position.  Pro-open-carry individuals have staged “Starbucks Appreciation Days” at some Starbucks locations.  During these events, participants openly carried their guns.  In response, anti-gun activists have staged anti-open-carry events and put pressure on Starbucks, seeking to have the company ban guns from their stores.  These competing events have positioned the company in the middle of a political firestorm.  Thus, Schultz’s letter, in which he states the company’s newest approach.  Continue reading

The United Nations has passed the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty (ATT), with the support of the Obama administration, but without the support of Iran, North Korea, and Syria.  Twenty-three countries abstained from the vote.

The Usurper’s  face and voice will blanket the TV networks on Tuesday evening for “his” propagadized take on the State of the Union.   We don’t need any more of his lies to tell us how our country is coming out of the economic recession – a recession that he and his administration have prolonged because of their failed Keynesian economic policies.  FIVE Years is the telling of how he has done.

U.N. Stealth Treaty to Gut Our Second Amendment? (Open Thread)

© Miri WTPOTUS July 9, 2012

If Operation Fast and Furious (OFF) has taught us anything, it’s that the progressives in this country (especially Barack Hussein Obama II, Hillary Clinton, and Eric Holder) will go to great lengths to invent “facts” to use to continue to chip away at our Second Amendment rights.  Many have credibly argued that OFF was designed not to stop guns from flowing across the border to Mexican drug cartels, but rather to inflate the numbers and “prove” by lying statistics that over 90% of the guns recovered in Mexico were trafficked illegally from the United States.  The goal was to gin up an astroturfed groundswell of bogus public opinion in favor of more government control over guns.  Continue reading

Obama and Joyce Foundation Pay to Influence the Supreme Ct.

© Bridgette  WTPOTUS 2010

The Joyce Foundation, in collusion with Obama and other Joyce Foundation Board members, used their corrupt ways to take advantage of unsuspecting people, including law students and money starved universities. This eye-opening article, “Joyce Foundation, Obama, and Heller v. D.C” tells how the Joyce Foundation tried to influence Supreme Court Second Amendment “Right to Bear Arms” cases and, in particular, the “District of Columbia vs Heller” case, and gives us a way of looking at how other democratic organizations operate and how far they go to “persuade,” and control outcomes. The fact that the Joyce Foundation bought and paid law students to do their bidding is criminal. This is another version of “pay-to-play” the Chicago way, and these people are pros. Continue reading
