Random Thoughts and News for a Monday Morning

Following are some random thoughts concerning issues in the news:

Whatever became of “our girls“ in Nigeria? Their cause fell off the front pages fast, didn’t it? The girls are still in captivity, and now have been joined by others. Where’s Michelle Obama now? Off to California, on the taxpayers’ dime, to visit Malia, an aspiring filmmaker.

When “mass shooters” who happen to be white strike, the media always report how many guns were involved, the types of guns, how much ammo, what type ammo, and the source of the weapons, as well as whether or not the person had a permit or had legally purchased the weapon(s). Why don’t they do the same for inner-city shootings perpetrated (mostly) by “persons of color”? See here, here, and here for a reports about how at least 16 were killed and 82 were shot in Chicago over the Fourth of July weekend. How’s that strict gun control working out for the people of Chicago?

You Work for the USA, Claire!

Now I’ve heard everything. As if a U.S. Senator doesn’t have anything better to do, Claire McCaskill is going to “press” the country of Ireland to make public their private adoption records, something which isn’t even the law in this country.

It’s Not “Fair” to Mock Obama at the MO State Fair (Open Thread)

Progressives at the Daily Kos and “Show Me Progress” and elsewhere (like the Obama-worshipping, complicit mainstream media) are outraged at a rodeo clown who wore a Barack Obama mask during a performance at the Missouri State Fair.

Barack Hussein Obama II introduced himself to the American public as the son of a single “white mother” from Kansas and a black “immigrant” from Africa.  During the 2008 campaign, and since, Obama has presented himself as someone who grew up without privileges–a man whose mother sometimes had to rely on food stamps to get by.

“Barack Obama would be the first president in U.S. history to have grown up in a family that used food stamps,” says Joel Berg. … executive director of New York Coalition Against Hunger… Obama grew up in poverty and I believe he can combat poverty,” Joel says.
