Media Natters, Rubio’s Mormonism, and Obama’s “Muslim Faith”

Here’s an interesting story about Barack Hussein Obama II, the likes of which you’ve likely never read before:

In the compelling fictional personal narrative that has helped propel Illinois Senator Barack Hussein Obama II into the Oval Office, one chapter has gone completely untold: Obama spent much of his childhood as a faithful Muslim, singing the Shahada and memorizing the Koran. Continue reading

Mob Mentality

Scene from London riots by “youths”

London burns.  Thank goodness it can’t happen here.  Or can it?

Disturbing riots in London are variously attributed to disaffected “youths”; to anger over the shooting of a gangbanger by a policeman; to “children” engaging in hooliganism because their parents are uninvolved; to hooded political dissenters, stirred up by unions and activist groups in protest of UK anti-austerity actions; or to “flash mobs” organized via social media by thugs who want only to take things they can’t afford to buy.

Obama’s Slick Upper Lip; Open Thread

Barack Obama has perfected the strategic sneer, from long practice.

It comes, frequently, when he answers a reporter’s question about something House Majority Leader Eric Cantor has said:  Obama’s lip curls up on the left side and a look of disgust and arrogance washes over his face. Continue reading

Obama News, and a New Open Thread

by Miri

OK. So what’s up with this?

President Barack Obama says his wife and daughters aren’t “invested” in him being president and would have been fine had he decided against running for re-election. But he says they believe in what he’s doing for the country.

Asked about his family’s reaction to his wanting another term, Obama said: “Michelle and the kids are wonderful in that if I said, `You know, guys, I want to do something different,’ They’d be fine. They’re not invested in daddy being president or my husband being president.”

He says first lady Michelle Obama would be the first one to encourage him to do something “a little less stressful” if she no longer thought that what they were doing was worthwhile for the country. Continue reading

A Tangled Web: Tales of Obama’s LFCOLB, Part One

Why is Savannah Guthrie the only journalist to see the original, certified Obama birth certificate in three dimensions, up close and personal?

By now the world knows that on April 27, 2011, 8:48 am, EDT, White House (WH) press secretary, Jay Carney, held a “gaggle” to introduce the media and the public to what he implied was President Barack Hussein Obama’s

long-form birth certificate from the State of Hawaii – the original birth certificate.

In another post on this blog, that press conference was dissected and some still-unexplained curiosities were noted.

At the presser, reporters received copies of Obama’s short-form certification of live birth (SFCOLB), originally released in June, 2008, as well as a recently issued “long-form” certificate of live birth (LFCOLB).  The copies were one-sided, on white paper, and contained relicts of other documents that must have been stacked all together on the scanner or copy machine. See blogger butterdezillion’s excellent explanatory post about this curiosity. Continue reading

Obama Long-Form Gaggledygook

On April 27, 2011, Jay Carney, White House (WH) press secretary, held a “Press Gaggle”  to introduce the media to President Obama’s  original, certified, long-form birth certificate. Carney gave “paperwork” to reporters: a packet containing copies of Obama’s short-form Certification of Live Birth (COLB), the so-called long-form birth certificate, and four pages of correspondence between the Hawaiian Dept. of Health (HDOH), and Obama and his attorneys.

Since then, many have analyzed the documents, but I decided to analyze the words spoken at the birth certificate rollout.  So I read the gaggle transcript more closely, and noticed some curiosities.  Below are excerpts, not the entire transcript from the WH website.  Names of reporters were inexplicably excluded from the transcript.  Carney began the discussion:

Let me just get started. Thank you for coming this morning. I have with me today Dan Pfeiffer, the President’s Director of Communications, as well as Bob Bauer, the President’s White House Counsel, who will have a few things to say about the documents we handed to you today. And then we’ll take your questions. I remind you this is off camera and only pen and pad, not for audio.

A Preemptive Strike by Sunstein? Open Thread.

© Miri WTPOTUS 2011

A scholarly paper published January 15, 2008, by Cass R. Sunstein and Adrian Vermeule, both of Harvard Law School, addresses “conspiracy theories” and what governments can do about them.  One might be forgiven for wondering why “governments” should think that they ought to do anything about them. Or perhaps I should say, why someone who now works in OUR government thinks the government should do anything about what free people think.  This is, after all, the United States of America, founded upon the idea of freedom of speech, and by implication, of thoughts and beliefs, no matter how esoteric or wild. However, Sunstein and his co-author write,

Those who subscribe to conspiracy theories may create serious risks, including risks of violence, and the existence of such theories raises significant challenges for policy and law.

Obama: I Am Opposed to a Dumb War

Yesterday, I ran across a speech that Barack Obama made to an anti-war rally in Chicago on October 2, 2002.  Here is the speech in its entirety for the purpose of comparison to what he will say tonight, as a public service, when he tries to explain to the American people why he went to war in Libya (with my emphasis and some comments added):

Good afternoon. Let me begin by saying that although this has been billed as an anti-war rally, I stand before you as someone who is not opposed to war in all circumstances.

The Civil War was one of the bloodiest in history, and yet it was only through the crucible of the sword, the sacrifice of multitudes, that we could begin to perfect this union, and drive the scourge of slavery from our soil. I don’t oppose all wars. Continue reading

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

By Miri

Read all about it.  News that caught my eye today:

U. S. Attorney Richard Callahan appointed Zia Faruqui, a Muslim-American, to the position of “outreach coordinator” to the Muslim community in the St. Louis area.  He’s not involved in terrorism investigations; no, his job is to make Muslims feel less put upon (my characterization).  They’re put upon; not the families of 3000+ murdered in cold blood on 9/11.  One would think that as fellow Americans, they would be more than happy to help identify anyone who they may know who seeks to murder more fellow Americans, in cold blood.  Continue reading

Threatening Posts by the Left are Exposed

REVOLUTION

Of course, the Progressive  Left “never lets a crisis go to waste” and they are following Alinsky’s rules to the letter.   Instead of sympathy and empathy for the victims in Tucson, they immediately accused the Right of being involved only a few minutes after the massacre  was announced.    The Left blogs,  announcers, and politicians were  so quick to respond, it is as if they had prior knowledge  of the  tragedy.     To cover for themselves, the  nasty accusations began.  They were getting facts wrong, and quickly announced that Rep. Gabby Giffords was dead.   She wasn’t.   But it appears they expected her to be.
