Beginning as early as 2001, according to my research, perhaps even before, this quote by writer/illustrator Joan Walsh Anglund began to be falsely attributed to Maya Angelou:
A bird doesn’t sing because he has an answer–he sings because he has a song.
Barack Obama himself famously and falsely attributed Ms. Anglund’s words to Maya Angelou.
A bird doesn’t sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.
The above quote was posted on Maya Angelou’s facebook page without attribution on November 23, 2013. That same year, she was interviewed and she repeated the quote, without attribution, as if those were her own words. An op-ed in the New York Times was too cute by half to claim that this was not a case of plagiarism:
… it doesn’t seem that Ms. Angelou, who died last year, claimed the words as her own.
“It doesn’t seem?” Well, I beg to differ. Things are not always as some would wish them to seem to be.

Apparently it’s a monumental challenge for a particular type of woman to multitask by carrying around two phones. That sort of woman prefers “convenience,” she says. Other women, however, are perfectly capable of handling two phones as well as a newborn babe. (And they’re smart enough to know that you can have more than one email address per smart phone.)
Maybe THAT’S the type of woman we need as our first female president–an honest one, to boot!
We don’t need no stinkin’ obfuscating dingbat.
Barack Obama refuses to send the National Guard to the U.S. border to protect OUR PEOPLE from illegal alien criminals, drug cartels, Enterovirus D68, drug-resistant TB, severe Coxsackie viral infections, and (worse) deathly EBOLA. Yet NBC News reports that Obama “may” send the National Guard to Liberia: [emphasis added to quotes]
President Barack Obama is expected to issue an executive order Thursday paving the way for the deployment of National Guard forces to Liberia to help contain the Ebola outbreak there, sources told NBC News. The sources said that eight engineers and logistical specialists from the Guard, both active-duty and reservists, would probably be included in the first deployment. They are expected to help build 17 Ebola treatment centers, with 100 beds apiece. The sources said that no decision had been made.

Barack Obama on the IRS targeting of conservative and Tea Party groups for partisan political gain:
There were some bone-headed decisions. …
Not even mass corruption — not even a smidgen of corruption. [emphasis added to quotes]

Is this the beginning of the unraveling of the IRS scandal? Finally someone takes the side of the People. The IRS must explain under oath how it “lost” Lois Lerner’s email. In addition, a federal judge has appointed a “federal magistrate” to investigate whether any of her email can be recovered. Continue reading
