Chuck Berry, RIP

Chuck Berry died today. He shall be missed.

Chuck Berry, the singer, songwriter and guitar great who practically defined rock music with his impeccably twangy hits “Maybellene,” “Roll Over Beethoven,” “Memphis,” “My Ding-a-Ling” and “Sweet Little Sixteen,” has died. He was 90.

The singer/songwriter, whose classic “Johnny B. Goode” was chosen by Carl Sagan to be included on the golden record of Earth Sounds and Music launched with Voyager in 1977, died Saturday afternoon, St. Charles County Police Department confirmed. The cause of death was not revealed.

During his 60-plus years in show business, Berry in 1986 became one of the first inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He entered The Blues Foundation’s Blues Hall of Fame in ’85 and that year also received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. …

Chuck Berry’s music was part of the soundtrack of our lives–We the Baby Boomers. May he rest in peace. Condolences to his family and fans.

  1. I just want to start a new thread, about the seriously emergent soft coup against Donald Trump that was launched in full ugliness yesterday.

    Dave’s new thread is here:

  2. They’re NOW going after Reince Priebus, Bannon, Gorka. They say Priebus shouldn’t have asked the FBI (who came to HIM) to publicize that no evidence exists to connect Trump to Russia. (Isn’t it interesting how the 6 degrees of separation DON’T apply to Trump but DO apply to Obama? It’s not right to equate Obama with his MINIONS, but the media will do anything to equate Trump with people who didn’t work for his campaign at the time they had this so-called contact with Russia, but who may have at some point known him or worked as volunteers for him, or maybe just said they supported him.) As for Bannon and Gorka, now they’re “investigating” the possible coordination between Breitbart (who they worked for in the past) and other so-called “alt-right” media outlets (another coordinated meme of Hillary’s) and Russia who, they claim, used “bots” to proliferate pro-Trump stories across the web. NOW, first of all, is that in any way a CRIME? If so, then how? Somebody’s supposed to be investigated because RT (the “Russian state” media, they allege) interviewed them or asked them to speak or linked to their story, or some ALLEGED Russian actor used a “bot” to make some story go viral on Facebook or Twitter. (SURELY Podesta et al use bots, too. Or at least their surrogates with the alphabetic names–OFA, e.g.) Anyway, it seems to me that NBC has “coordinated” with the Clinton campaign MANY TIMES and they, themselves, have “connections” and “associations” with foreign media. For example, isn’t darling Savannah married to someone from AL JAZEERA? Let’s investigate all the Dems with connections to Al Jazeera. Huh?

    • It would seem to be a crime to COORDINATE with the CLINTON campaign to hurt Trump, from the perspective of campaign finance laws. Did Hillary Clinton declare the value of the free services given to her by the media? What was the value to Hillary of the debate questions given to her in advance by Donna Brazile? Brazile LIED multiple times on camera but now ADMITS her offense. This means she was conscious of GUILT.

That’s the standard they apply to Flynn and Sessions, that they “lied,” although in Sessions’s case he did NOT lie. He volunteered that he didn’t have any contact with Russians in the CONTEXT he was being asked about–AS A PART OF TRUMP’S CAMPAIGN. He did have contact with them as a SENATOR. He wasn’t ASKED, btw, about his own self. He volunteered the information and said that sometimes he was considered a Trump “surrogate,” but as such he didn’t connect with Russians.

Anyway, there are multiple laws broken by the Clinton side–COMEY SAID IT. He admitted it. However, in Clinton’s case, she gets a pass from Comey because, he claims, she had no INTENT to break the law when anybody with common sense KNOWS that’s ridiculous. She knew exactly what she was doing. She did it DELIBERATELY to evade federal records laws and Comey knows it. She broke laws about dissemination of classified information. Comey gave her a pass because the idea was that poor old Hil didn’t know about technology.

What about Flynn and HIS “intent” to violate the Logan Act, which, btw, he DIDN’T DO? Why was his lack of “intent” not pertinent, even if what he said DID seem to violate the Act? He still lost his job.

IF/WHEN Comey manages to drum up some charge to file against someone, like one of Trump’s acquaintances (Page, seems to be the fall guy being mentioned), will he give him the benefit of the “INTENT” doubt? Surely not.

The DemoncRATS are DEMANDING a scalp and he’s going to deliver one, just as he and Fitzgerald (remember?) persecuted poor Scooter Libby. Guaranteed that SOMEBODY is going to be charged because they will NOT let the DemoncRAT’S trumped-up allegations come to naught. Comey HAS TO give them a win. Wait for it. It’s coming. And no matter how specious the connection, they WILL try to use it against Trump. Already John Dean is claiming that Trump’s WH is in “cover up mode.” DEAN DECLARES they’re GUILTY. What more do we need? Dean is like McCain. Darling of the lamestream.

    • Why wasn’t anyone prosecuted by California for violating their wiretap laws, by recording Trump without his knowledge?

  3. Lots of memories …. yep ….lots!
