Three Days and Counting

Three days from now, Donald J. Trump will have been sworn in as the 45th president of the United States. The best news of the week is illustrated above, in an image courtesy of Bruce Leshan. Those are the vans moving the Obamas into their new house and out of our house.

For those still pretending or actually feeling (unwarranted) outrage over the allegation that Russia “hacked” and published actual emails from the DNC and Clinton flunky John Podesta and released them to the public in order to help Trump win the election, I present an image courtesy of comedian Rob Schneider, which comes from work by Dov H. That chart stops in 2000, but there are other incidents since then where our government interfered in elections in other countries. The U.S. has interfered in Israeli elections, and in Kenya, Ukraine, Lebanon, and Afghanistan since 2000. (Barack Obama personally interfered in Kenya’s elections by campaigning for his “cousin” Raila Odinga, when Obama was a Senator.)

Were any of those interferences acts of war, as Democrats have termed what Russia allegedly did to a private individual and to our two political parties? (According to our intelligence agencies, the RNC was also under hacking attack.)

Ironically, the “proof” that U.S. intelligence officials offered to Trump in his “top secret” and “highly classified” briefing comes from Russian communications that our intelligence agencies allegedly hacked or eavesdropped upon! Was that an act of war?

Trump’s briefing was so “top secret” that someone in the White House or someone from the intelligence community leaked the contents of the briefing to CNN!

So here we are, with three days left before the D.C. swamp is drained for the second time.

The first time, in the 1800s, swampy areas were drained to build parts of the National Mall.

This time, the draining will be political and it can’t come soon enough for the American People.

Let the swamp draining  begin!
