Another for the Dead Pool, Five Years After

The incident we’re going to talk about happened five years ago, but given the current interest in presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s email, it warrants another look (although we haven’t discussed this case here before today).

Gareth Williams. Sound familiar? Didn’t to me.

Here’s the story: [emphasis added to quotes]

Gareth Williams was a British spy. He was tasked, among other things, with hacking into former President Bill Clinton’s secret data.

Then, 5-years-ago, he was discovered dead and stuffed into luggage. The case has never been solved, and reads like something out of a James Bond thriller.

Williams, who was a math genius and expert cryptographer, left voicemails for friends and family shortly before his death that were later discovered to have been deleted by a third party.

It was also discovered, during an inquest, that there is no way that he would have been able to stuff himself inside of that luggage.

In other words, someone had to have put him there. …

The running theory is that Williams was poisoned, though the perpetrator remains at large.

Detective Chief Inspector Colin Sutton, who discovered the body, noted that the heat was turned up to its maximum setting, to help decompose the body which, in turn, would eliminate the poison.

A recent story in the UK media explains,

Today [8/20/2015], it has been revealed the spy had dug out a guest list for an event Clinton was due to attend as a favour for a friend. …

A source said: ‘The Clinton diary hack came at a time when Williams’ work with America was of the most sensitive nature. …

Earlier this month, it was revealed that detectives who investigated the mysterious death believe he was murdered and that his killers then broke back in through a skylight to cover their tracks. 

The claim centres on the revelation that part of the forensic equipment placed in the flat after the body was found was moved – despite the fact the building was under armed police guard.

The theory supports his family’s suspicions he was murdered by ‘agents specialising in the dark arts of the secret services’.

The murder scene was “steam cleaned“, even the victim’s own fingerprints and DNA were not found. Williams allegedly worked on the infamous

joint monitoring network Echelon, which uses sophisticated programs to eavesdrop on terrorists and criminal gangs, particularly those in Russia.

Williams had worked before his death in Washington DC with the NSA, where he monitored technology that tracked banking transactions between Russia and criminals in the EU.

Of course, this all happened back in 2010, but it’s hard not to speculate what else about the Clintons (or the Obamas, for that matter) that Williams may have learned from the Clinton “diary” or while working with the NSA. Remember this story?

The headline on the website Pravda trumpeted President Vladimir V. Putin’s latest coup, its nationalistic fervor recalling an era when its precursor served as the official mouthpiece of the Kremlin: “Russian Nuclear Energy Conquers the World.”

The article, in January 2013, detailed how the Russian atomic energy agency, Rosatom, had taken over a Canadian company with uranium-mining stakes stretching from Central Asia to the American West. The deal made Rosatom one of the world’s largest uranium producers and brought Mr. Putin closer to his goal of controlling much of the global uranium supply chain. …

At the heart of the tale are several men, leaders of the Canadian mining industry, who have been major donors to the charitable endeavors of former President Bill Clinton and his family. Members of that group built, financed and eventually sold off to the Russians a company that would become known as Uranium One.

Beyond mines in Kazakhstan that are among the most lucrative in the world, the sale gave the Russians control of one-fifth of all uranium production capacity in the United States. Since uranium is considered a strategic asset, with implications for national security, the deal had to be approved by a committee composed of representatives from a number of United States government agencies. Among the agencies that eventually signed off was the State Department, then headed by Mr. Clinton’s wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton.

As the Russians gradually assumed control of Uranium One in three separate transactions from 2009 to 2013, Canadian records show, a flow of cash made its way to the Clinton Foundation. Uranium One’s chairman used his family foundation to make four donations totaling $2.35 million. Those contributions were not publicly disclosed by the Clintons, despite an agreement Mrs. Clinton had struck with the Obama White House to publicly identify all donors. Other people with ties to the company made donations as well.

And shortly after the Russians announced their intention to acquire a majority stake in Uranium One, Mr. Clinton received $500,000 for a Moscow speech [in 2010!] from a Russian investment bank with links to the Kremlin that was promoting Uranium One stock.

A lot of interesting things happened in 2010:  Obama declared the Iraq war over. The U.S. and Russia traded captured spies. The U.S., along with Russia, China, and other nations, imposed sanctions on Iran. Obama signed a nuclear arms “pact” with Russia. Our consulate in Pakistan was attacked by jihadists. The American people gave Obama and the Democrats an electoral “shellacking.” There may have been all kinds of fascinating notations in that Clinton dossier.

Another curious fact about Williams, who died

shortly after returning from a hacking conference in America.

He had been to see a drag queen show by himself two days before he was last seen alive, on August 15, 2010.

Eight days later his naked body was found folded into the 32in by 19in bag placed in the bath of his flat in Pimlico, central London.

His mobile phone and sim cards were laid out on a table.

What photos might have been on that mobile phone and who might have been captured in them? What sort of messages might have been stored on his phone or sim cards? Seems as if somebody was concerned about that.

Of course, it’s entirely possible that his death had nothing whatsoever to do with the Clintons or the Obamas or his work as a British spy. Even so:

Will we ever learn the truth about the Clintons or Barack Obama?
