Requiem for Antonio Santiago (Open Thread)

Back in March, we published a post about little Antonio Santiago, an apparently “white hispanic” INFANT who was brutally murdered in cold blood, as he sat in his stroller.

Little Antonio was ruthlessly shot in the face, allegedly by two black teenagers, who will stand trial next month:

Georgia police … charged two teens with murder a day after a 13-month-old boy was shot dead in his stroller and his mother wounded during a holdup.

Seventeen-year-old De’Marquise Kareem Elkins, the suspected gunman, was charged as an adult with first-degree murder, said Brunswick Police Chief Tobe Green. A 14-year-old companion was also charged with murder but was not identified because he is a juvenile. They were arrested early Friday.

Sherry West said she and her 13-month-old son, Antonio Santiago, were on a walk about 9 a.m. Thursday when they were approached by two young men. The older teen brandished a handgun and demanded money.

After telling him she didn’t have any money, the gunman then asked, “Do you want me to kill your baby?” West told the Associated Press.

West said he fired the first shot into the ground, then shot her in the left ear and upper left leg. The gunman then walked around the stroller and shot her child once in the face, killing him instantly.

In the post, I asked the obvious question: Why has there been no expression of outrage about this murder, or sympathy for Antonio’s family, coming from the First Lady and her husband, white-African-American-who-identifies-as-black Barack Obama?  I wrote then and I reiterate today:

It should not matter what race the alleged suspects are, but unfortunately it does matter.  A senseless crime like this should outrage all of us equally, but unfortunately …

The race of the perpetrator and the race of the victim matter because, as exemplified by our First Couple, reactions are too often selective and discriminating.

Empathy offered or completely absent

Heartfelt condolences expressed or silence

So far as I know, there’s been no comment yet from the First Couple about Antonio’s death, nor has there been any comment from white-black-Bajan-American Eric Holder, current Attorney General of the USA, concerning this particular and much more heinousunnecessary” and “tragic” death.  Why is that?

Holder is trying as hard as he can to find a way to press federal charges against the acquitted and INNOCENT white hispanic George Zimmerman.  The jury ruled that Zimmerman acted in self-defense when he shot black teenager Trayvon Martin, who had already broken Zimmerman’s nose and was at the time of his death pummeling Zimmerman, beating his head into a concrete sidewalk.

Little Antonio was doing nothing more than sitting in his stroller, enjoying the day. Antonio was horribly profiled allegedly by two depraved teenagers who allegedly murdered him in coldest blood.

Today I ran across an essay by someone who has a unique way of saying much the same thing: [emphasis added]

You won’t recognize me. My name was Antonio Santiago and I was the 13-month old child who was shot at point blank range by two teens who were attempting to rob my mother, who was also shot. A Grand Jury of my mommy’s peers from Brunswick GA determined the teens who murdered me will not face the death penalty, because they are underage. Too bad I was given a death sentence for being innocent and defenseless, but I was underage too.

My family made the mistake of being half white in a 73% non-white neighborhood, but my murder was not ruled a Hate Crime. …

Nor did President Obama take so much as a single moment to acknowledge my murder.

I am one of the youngest murder victims in our great Nation’s history, but the media doesn’t care to cover the story of my tragic demise, President Obama has no children who could possibly look like me – so he doesn’t care and the media doesn’t care because my story is not interesting enough to bring them ratings so they can sell commercial time slots.

There is not a white equivalent of Al Sharpton because if there was he would be declared racist, so there is no one rushing to Brunswick GA to demand justice for me. There is no White Panther party to put a bounty on the lives of those who murdered me.

I have no voice, I have no representation and unlike those who shot me in the face while I sat innocently in my stroller – I no longer have my life.

In the same way that Antonio’s case is ignored, hundreds of other victims of racial or anti-gay violence are ignored by Obama and the Justice Department under Holder, all because of the skin color of the perpetrators versus the victims.

Is not Obama the president of us all?   Does not Holder head a Department of Justice that is supposed to seek and find justice for us all, regardless of race?

Demand justice for him, too.

“… Just Released Video From First Night Of CSPOA Convention; Obama ID Fraud”

    • The birth announcements prove nothing, Zullo says. Doesn’t tell you where the person was born or who the father is. All it reports is “a birth”. (As we’ve said ALL ALONG.)

The LFCOLB is a “fraud” and that’s a “fact” and not a “conspiracy theory.” He alludes to how the lineage of ANY “king” can be traced, but Zullo can’t do that with Barry, who has four aliases (Barack Hussein Obama, Barry Obama, Barry Soetoro, and Soebarkah).

How do you know who Mr. Obama’s father is? How do you know who Mr. Obama’s mother is? You’ve been told, and they put a handful of pictures of people standing together and that’s what they tell you it is. But the truth is, you don’t know. The truth is, we can’t do a background check that takes us far enough to confirm any of it. That individual sitting in that White House today could not pass a background check for any of your departments. That’s a scary thing.”

“That’s a felony. … I don’t know: how many more felonies do we need? There’s a problem here, people. … Come and let me show you what we’ve discovered. … It will send a chill down your spine. Because when you can’t do a background check on the most powerful man in the country, we have a bad problem. … We need your help. [Referring to Barry’s baby picture:] I don’t know who that is.”

Duh and duh. What we said from the beginning, and yet we’re called nuts.

      • I can’t remember if I saved this link to read, because someone already alerted us to it, or whether I saved it to share, but it’s appropriate here:

Conservatives Dismissed Birther Concerns To Tackle Obama On “Serious Issues” – How’s That Working Out?

… As we look back, we see a long road strewn with the wreckage of a divided Conservative base. We see some Conservatives that can be likened to the kindly driver who, in a quest to prove his generosity and fairness, waves a car into traffic and directly into an accident — then drives on feeling no responsibility for the crash.

In the same way, Conservatives who refused to acknowledge there was a problem with Obama’s birth certificate have continued to feel no responsibility for failing to defend Article II of the Constitution; and no remorse for attacking those who did. We watched them cite newspaper birth announcements, and a short form certificate, as proof enough. Eventually they accepted a long form certificate that experts and scientists agree was faked.

“It’s not a winning issue,” was their mantra. Liberals so successfully mocked so-called “birthers,” that many Conservatives slunk off embarrassed and distancing themselves from those who continued to assert the issue had grave Constitutional ramifications.

Many of us knew that the Democrats long-awaited, unblemished red heifer had been groomed to take our country into Socialism within two terms, but unfortunately for everyone, we couldn’t unite to stand and say, “You shall not pass.” …”

  2. Here’s something for all the crazy kooks out there that scream about false clouds and spraying muck all day long, every day:

Where are they getting the $630,000 figure for “total costs”? That’s crap.
Who really cares bout the money anyway?

The CIA? Is the weather excuse, just a “front’?

    • Don’t you love how they act AS IF this is future tense? AS IF they’re not doing something like this already? This is what John Kyl meant when he talked about transnationalists and how they just act without any democratic input. WHERE do these asses get off messing with the entire WORLD ENVIRONMENT without any input, based on BOGUS “SCIENCE”? AND it’s AS LIKELY that they’re messing things up and CAUSING problems as that they are “fixing” anything. There is absolutely no science that proves that CO2 levels CAUSE global warming versus the opposite–that NATURALLY OCCURRING FLUCTUATIONS IN CLIMATE CYCLES (caused by sunspots, the tilt of the Earth, etc.) are the CAUSE of the increased CO2 in the atmosphere. In addition, since climate is a complex and interactive, multivariable SYSTEM, their MODELS SUCK. They did NOT predict the past 16 years of NO WARMING. A system finds its own equilibrium. The Earth has warmed and cooled multiple times, over billions of years, and humans had NOTHING to do with it and could not effect it if they wanted to.

  3. If you want to see Obamanomics taken to its conclusion, look at Starnesville. And tremble.

Ayn Rand’s Starnesville come to life

    • Yes, and today we learn that it’s all the Republicans’ fault.

Ed Schultz actually had the gall to opine:

“Michigan used to be a symbol of industrial strength in manufacturing in this country. But thanks to a lot of Republican policies, the city is now filing for bankruptcy. Now, it’s the largest public sector bankruptcy in U.S. history, and the consequences could be devastating if you care about people. The already small force of police, firefighters and EMTs are in danger of future layoffs, that’s only going to make it worse. Roughly 30,000 retired workers are concerned about their pensions. You know, what they’re counting on. Make no mistake, Detroit is exactly what the Republicans want. They outsourced manufacturing jobs, attack unions, cut public services, and this is the result. Now they can wipe the slate clean because now they can start privatizing city assets.”

What they’re doing is accusing the “enemy” of what they do themselves. USING the exact language that Barry’s opponents use against him. It’s no coincidence. Here’s an example of their lawlessness and the tyrant’s evolving control:

Judge Voids Detroit Bankruptcy, Says it “Dishonors Obama

Judge Rosemarie Aquilina is a reminder that the judicial activism of generations of judges creates a high level of unprofessionalism in succeeding generations of men and women on the bench until they no longer really understand what they can and can’t do.

But the other factor here is that Judge Rosemarie Aquilina is an elected official in a state where unions have a death grip on local elections. The law she’s following is the law of “You rub my back and I’ll rub yours.”

Finally the judge is a former aide to a Democratic state senator. So if there’s any doubt at all as to her ideological orientation, that should dispel it.

Ruling that the governor and Detroit’s emergency manager violated the state constitution, an Ingham County Circuit judge ordered Friday that Detroit’s federal bankruptcy filing be withdrawn.

“It’s absolutely needed,” said Judge Rosemarie Aquilina, observing she hopes [REPUBLICAN] Gov. Rick Snyder “reads certain sections of the (Michigan) constitution and reconsiders his actions.”

Judges rarely read constitutions. They make them up as they go along.

“It’s cheating, sir, and it’s cheating good people who work,” the judge told assistant Attorney General Brian Devlin. “It’s also not honoring the (United States) president, who took (Detroit’s auto companies) out of bankruptcy.”

Aquilina said she would make sure President Obama got a copy of her order.

“I know he’s watching this,” she said, predicting the president ultimately will have to take action to make sure existing pension commitments are honored. …”

    • Of course that’s a WONDERFUL ARTICLE. It’s written by the equally wonderful Daniel Hannan. You wouldn’t ever find a US lamestream media person writing such a thing. It might “dishonor” the socialist (at best) Obama. They fear this truth,

“… Detroit has been under Leftist administrations for half a century. It has spent too much and borrowed too much, driving away business and becoming a tool of the government unions.

Of Detroit’s $11 billion debt, $9 billion is accounted for by public sector salaries and pensions. [Wait for it! Barry WILL “bail them out” with more of our tax dollars. Anything less would “dishonor” him.] Under the mountain of accumulated obligations, the money going into, say, the emergency services is not providing services but pensions. Result? It takes the police an hour to respond to a 911 call and two thirds of ambulances can’t be driven. This is a failure, not of the private sector, but of the state. And, even now, the state is fighting to look after its clients: a court struck down the bankruptcy application on grounds that ‘will lessen the pension benefits of public employees’.

Which brings us to the scariest thing of all. Detroit could all too easily be a forerunner for the rest of the United States. As Mark Steyn puts it in the National Review:

Like Detroit, America has unfunded liabilities, to the tune of $220 trillion, according to the economist Laurence Kotlikoff. Like Detroit, it’s cosseting the government class and expanding the dependency class, to the point where its bipartisan “immigration reform” actively recruits 50–60 million low-skilled chain migrants. Like Detroit, America’s governing institutions are increasingly the corrupt enforcers of a one-party state — the IRS and Eric Holder’s amusingly misnamed Department of Justice being only the most obvious examples. Like Detroit, America is bifurcating into the class of “community organizers” and the unfortunate denizens of the communities so organized.

Oh dear. No wonder the president would rather talk about Trayvon Martin. …”

which is why Schultz is spinning as fast as he can.

  4. Another innocent life taken; she’s no cause célèbre because her shooter wasn’t white or white hispanic.

Chicago Hearing for Shooting Death of 6-Month-Old Girl Today; Left Silent

A Chicago man charged with murdering 6-month-old Jonylah Watkins as her father was changing her diaper will be back in court today for a status hearing.

Koman Willis, who pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and aggravated murder, is believed to have committed the March 2013 murder in retaliation for a burglary the baby’s father allegedly committed at Willis’s mother’s house. One of the items taken was a PlayStation video game console. …”

Obama silent, too, and this “unnecessary” and “tragic” MURDER happened in HIS HOME TOWN. Shame.

    • ” The 15-year-old co-defendant of a man accused of fatally shooting a baby boy in his stroller during a robbery attempt in coastal Georgia has told a judge that 18-year-old De’Marquise Elkins was the shooter. The younger man maintains that he had no involvement in the boy’s death.

The Marietta Daily Journal reports that Dominique Lang, 15, was questioned in front of a judge Wednesday in the trial of Elkins, who is accused of fatally shooting 13-month-old Antonio Santiago in Brunswick March 21.

Authorities have said Elkins and Lang targeted Santiago’s mother, Sherry West, in an attempted armed robbery that left West injured. The Florida Times-Union reports a jury will likely hear Lang’s testimony on Thursday.

Brunswick police Det. Angela Smith also testified Wednesday and answered questions that were aimed at calling into question the department’s investigation into the shooting.”

TY, I wondered how that case is going. So much for the meme that they didn’t do it.

  5. ~ De’Marquis ELKINS ~ … now 17 yrs old… “the BABY KILLER”
gets his due? ~ I think NOT! ~ RIP ~ little baby boy…
