Is geography one of those subjects that’s getting short shrift in President Obama’s “Common Core” curriculum? Obama himself needs a refresher course. From Gateway Pundit:

Where ever the hell Monroe, Oklahoma is. Moore, Oklahoma was devastated by a tornado last week.
There was a time (such as any time before Jan. 20, 2009) when such goofs by a president made for wall-to-wall news coverage. No more. Not since Obama became president. President George W. Bush would have never gotten a pass from the mainstream media for a flub as big as this one.
Maybe the media give Obama a pass because English could be his second language, given that he spoke Indonesian and even Arabic (with a “first-rate accent“) during his formative years.
Moore might sound like Monroe to an Indonesian. Maybe even to a Hawaiian. Or a Kenyan.
Moore. Monroe. What’s the diff? Looks like a couple hundred miles. Actually, it’s 169.43 miles as the crow (that Obama should eat) flies:
There’s Moore, right next to Oklahoma City, in the middle of the state. Where’s Monroe? Well, it’s itty bitty, just an unincorporated community, to the east of Poteau, over there above the Ouachita Mountains.
Should we blame a big-city guy like Obama for not knowing the geography of a red flyover state like Oklahoma? It’s not as if he confused Point Pleasant, New Jersey, with Beach Point, Massachusetts, after all.
Ordinarily we might give him a pass, but for the fact that he was right there in Moore, just a few days ago, touring the devastation and crying, too. He felt their pain. And yet, just a day or so later, he “misspoke” and mistook Moore for Monroe. Some Oklahomans were not amused: [emphasis added]

He gets confused a lot, it seems. In fact, he seems to know very little about most of what’s going on, especially in his own administration. As president, he often learns what’s going on the same way that we ordinary citizens do: From the news (e.g., IRS targeting conservatives, Fast and Furious gun-running, Air Force One flyover of NYC, subpoenas of AP reporters’ phone records)!
To be fair, we should assume that TOTUS (teleprompter of the United States) was unavailable for the POTUS during his play date/love fest at the beach with Governor Christie. Even so, perhaps this mistake was his speech writer’s fault.

Obama To Sign International Gun Control Treaty On June 3rd 2013

Washington DC – On June 3, President Barack Obama will sign the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty (ATT). The ATT passed in the U.N. General Assembly by a vote of 153-4 on April 2.
This treaty is ostensibly aimed at putting an end to gun trafficking across international boundaries, and both Breitbart News and the NRA have argued that it will eventually require an international gun registry in order to be enforceable.
The ATT also provides the executive branch of our government with broad powers for controlling which guns do and don’t come into the country, and includes ambiguous language that a gun-control-friendly administration can use to its advantage.
Even though Obama will sign this treaty, it is not enforceable in the U.S. until the Senate ratifies it by a two-thirds majority.
For the time being, Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) has pushed through an amendment opposing the treaty. However, Obama’s signature will open the door for the Senate to reconsider a resolution of ratification at a future date.

School officials interrogated the boy for two whole hours until he “uncharacteristically” wet his pants, the boy’s mother said. He’s “all bugs and frogs and cowboys,” she said. “I have no problem that he had a consequence to his behavior,” said the mother, who has requested anonymity to protect the boy’s identity. “What I have a problem with is the severity,” she said, adding that the school’s handling of the situation was unacceptable.
The family’s attorney has asked for the school to reverse its suspension decision and to expunge the boy’s record. “If the punishment stands, it would become part of the boy’s permanent school record and keep him out of classes the rest of the school year,” the WaPo notes, citing the family. “He would miss his end-of-year kindergarten program at Dowell Elementary School in Lusby.”

Washington – President Obama will nominate James Comey to serve as director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The date when Obama will make the nomination is not known.
Obama apparently is anxious to please Republicans, Wall Street, and the military-industrial complex. Comey was a former counsel for Bridgewater Associates, a huge hedge fund , and also a senior official in the Bush administration: “As Deputy Attorney General, Comey was the second-highest ranking official in the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) and ran the day-to-day operations of the Department, serving in that office from December 2003 through August 2005.”
No doubt Democrats will play up Comey’s role in refusing to reauthorize a program for eavesdropping without warrant when he served as acting attorney general during the Bush administration.

At present Comey teaches at Columbia Law School, but for several years he was also General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Lockheed Martin. The law, hedge funds, and military contractors, all prime references to serve in a government that serves the military-industrial complex not to mention the fact that he is a good Republican who donated to the McCain and Romney campaigns.

Maybe not you, but at all events the day will come when your children and your grandchildren will surely live under communism!”
I wasn’t able to get the source for this, but it’s certainly true. Americans weren’t sold socialism; they were fed a steady diet of it in small doses. In time, they built up a tolerance for more socialism.
