Let the Debate Begin: Obama Communism or Romney Capitalism? (Open Thread)

Tonight will be the first of three debates between Barack Hussein Obama II and his challenger for the U.S. presidency, Willard Mitt Romney. Will this or any of the other debates actually touch upon the most important issue in this election? With the liberal media controlling the questions (possibly in collusion with the White House), it’s highly unlikely.  What is the greatest issue facing our nation?

Will our Republic continue the economic system, capitalism, which has made the United States of America the most successful nation in the history of the world;

OR

will our Republic be deceptively led into an economic system, communism, which has proven time and again to be disastrous for all?

CAPITALISM OR COMMUNISM?

That’s what this debate should be about.  However, it’s highly unlikely that the debate moderators will go there.

I chose the above photo because of its connection to the Plymouth Colony and the Mayflower Compact. Many of our fellow citizens don’t know that early in our country’s history, some of the most recent immigrants¹ to these shores experimented with communism.  They don’t know because progressives in “academia” don’t like to talk about this failure because far too many of them are Marxists themselves; therefore, they don’t teach these important facts.

As with the Soviet Union, communism in the Plymouth Colony was a disaster.  Some former states of the Soviet Union still suffer from post-communism malaise syndrome.  Today, those countries risk falling back into the familiar trap of communism because their people have become accustomed to dependency and no longer know how to be self-sufficient. That is the trap of communism, which particularly appeals to tyrants because a complacent, dependent population is more easily controlled. [emphasis added to quotes]

As William Bradford recorded in his Of Plymouth Plantation, a people who had formerly been known for their virtue and hard work became lazy and unproductive. Resources were squandered, vegetables were allowed to rot on the ground and mass starvation was the result. And where there is starvation, there is plague. After 2 1/2 years, the leaders of the colony decided to abandon their socialist mandate and create a system which honored private property.

Fortunately, the Plymouth Colony quickly learned its lesson, before the people forgot how to work, before they lost their virtue and self-esteem.

Rather than being entrepreneurs like the settlers in Jamestown, Plymouth Colony was a collective economic system. The settlers, who later became known as Pilgrims, worked for joint partnership or common-stock and were fed out of the common stores. The land and the houses were joint property. For seven years the venture capitalists in England and Pilgrims would work and then what was produced would be divided equally. …

Young unmarried men objected to having the fruits of their toil go to support other men’s wives and children. Married men disliked having their wives sew, cook, and wash for the others. Hard-working men thought it unfair that they should support the more idle or incapable. The older men, or those of the better class, declined to work … 

Seeing the failure of communal farming, the colony instituted a free enterprise system. Each colonist was given ownership to one acre of land and each colonist was challenged to better themselves and their land by working to their fullest capacity. The colony began to flourish. …

Capitalism was birthed out of an earlier failed socialist experiment as far back as the Mayflower. The capitalistic economic system is as American as the 4th of July.

Recently, Mitt Romney was smeared for saying something that he did not say (or did not mean to say.  What he meant is what’s important and any fair-minded person would take him at his word, if the explanation makes sense.)

While speaking to a group of supporters, Romney stated that it was a waste of his time and energy to try to persuade the 47% of the population that has already firmly decided to vote for Obama to vote for him instead.  He also spoke about the 47% of U.S. citizens who pay no income taxes and therefore have no skin in the game, so to speak.  Because the video was secretly recorded, admittedly selectively edited, and is missing 2 minutes from the pertinent and most crucial part of his speech, we don’t know for certain what he said or meant; but he admits that he spoke “inelegantly.”

Nevertheless, even if he were speaking about the half of the population that pays no taxes, that’s certainly a critical issue for this debate.  Seventy-nine percent (79%) of our citizens believe that everybody should pay income taxes.  So why doesn’t everybody have skin in the game?

The fact that half of the population pays no income tax, and that some of them even receive tax “returns” of money that they never paid into the system in the first place, is an important topic to address in any debate.  This is simply redistribution of wealth, something that Obama favors. 

This is communism, and communism is known to be a system that leads to the tyranny of the masses and dictatorship.  Not every citizen is equal in communism. Instead, the overlords, the elite (like Obama and his czars) who run the system, enjoy a much higher standard of living.  Everybody else is equal in squalor, while the top dogs enjoy the fruits of everyone else’s labor. One need only look at Cuba and other communist dictatorships to see how the leaders live large while the population suffers.

Mitt Romney was excoriated for what some inferred from his statement:  That Romney has no patience with the “moochers” in our society. However, as we see from history, it’s also as “American as the 4th of July” to complain, as did the harder-working members of the Plymouth Colony, about having to carry on their backs those fellow citizens who only take and never give.

This is the critical choice that faces us in this election:

COMMUNISM OR CAPITALISM?

Will this topic be debated tonight?  I doubt it. The lamestream media, in collusion with progressives (aka communists) in the Democrat Party, conspire to keep the population appeased with bread (“free” cell phones!) and distracted by circuses (American Idol, Snooki, Kardashians, Ann Romney’s clothes) so that they won’t truly know what they’re voting for (or against) when they vote in November.  Most of the people who voted for Obama’s “hope and change” in 2008 had no clue, thanks to the complicit media, about exactly what his promise of “fundamental transformation of America” entailed.  Will they know THIS TIME around?  We’ll get a clue tonight.
