This morning, if you searched Google for news (their news tab), what came up were all stories about Romney and the “47%,” even though the story is days old. This article is featured, which praises Mother Jones’s “reporter” David Corn for his “scoop”. Here’s all you need to know about him and his scoop [emphasis added]:
Corn, a liberal commentator on MSNBC, got a major assist from a freelance researcher, James Carter IV, who first found the snippet on YouTube. Carter suggested to Corn that there might be more in the full video held by the source. Carter, the grandson of the 39th president, also alerted the Huffington Post that a longer video might exist.
What’s not “news”, according to Google, is Barack Obama’s very revealing tape about redistribution. No! Of course that’s not news.
In addition to the story praising Corn for his investigative work (which apparently consists of being hand-delivered this “scoop” by James Carter IV, who is not working for Obama’s campaign, and is not working for any Super PAC, and is not working anywhere else for that matter–no surprise; there are no jobs in the Obamanation!), Google also features stories claiming that Romney (yes, Romney) is declaring class warfare, not Obama, who’s been demonizing the wealthy all his life (and especially during this campaign).
To see Obama news, you have to put his name into the search argument; and even then up pop stories about Romney and the 47%. Under those categories, one story appears about how Romney is trying to change the narrative by touting Obama’s redistribution tape.
However, unlike with the Romney stories, when you click that link, you get a message saying that the server can’t be found. What a coincidence!
I’ve noted and commented before about this phenomenon. Even when the lamestream search engines do find stories that are bad news for Obama, miraculously, the servers or the stories can’t be found when you click the link. Users get an error message. Magically, if the user hits the “refresh” button, then the story will suddenly appear. But how many know to try that?
Is this supposed to be an accident–that every time the lamestream search engines link to a story about Obama that’s unflattering or damaging to his campaign, the user’s first attempt to read it doesn’t work? Do they conspire to make us believe that a link is bad, so that we give up and never find the story to read it?
This CAN BE NO ACCIDENT. It happens more and more with stories that damage Obama. I’ve never seen it happen with stories that damage Romney.
This story repeats the talking points that are now apparent everywhere, if you can get the stories to come up [emphasis added]:
The clip of Obama was recorded in 1998 at Loyola University, according to Romney’s campaign and fellow Republicans who are aggressively promoting it. It features the future president discussing what he calls a “propaganda campaign” against government funded entities, and suggesting better ways to make government more effective. …
Later in the recording, Obama says he wants to “resuscitate this notion that we’re all in this thing together, leave nobody behind, we do have to be innovative in thinking how – what are the delivery systems that are actually effective and meet people where they live.”
He continues: “I think the trick is figuring out how do we structure government systems that pool resources and hence facilitate some redistribution – because I actually believe in some redistribution, at least at a certain level to make sure that everybody’s got a shot.”
It’s those final words – “I actually believe in some redistribution” – that Republicans have latched onto, characterizing them as an endorsement of redistributing wealth, rather than making sure government agencies were well supported. Many conservatives argue redistributing wealth is akin to socialism.
This morning, I heard the same spin on Fox radio news.
Via their JournOlist/Media Matters talking points, the lamestream media also deliberately mischaracterize what Romney said to make it sound as if he would, as president, not represent or care about all of the people. In actuality, he was talking about how, as a candidate, he can’t worry about trying to persuade those who support Obama, often because Obama redistributes other people’s money to many of them. It’s a losing proposition for Romney to waste energy trying to get votes from people who will never support him. That’s what he said and meant. Some even go so far as to morph Romney’s truthful statement about how some believe themselves to be “victims” in life, into Romney calling them “leeches.”
Similarly, the lamestream media deliberately mischaracterize, via those same JournOlist/Media Matters talking points, what Obama said, to make it sound benign. It’s anything but benign.
From Obama’s campaign spokesperson [emphasis added]:
Fourteen years ago, then-Senator Obama was making an argument for a more efficient, more effective government – specifically citing city government agencies that he didn’t think were working effectively. … He believed then, and believes now, that there are steps we can take to promote opportunity and ensure that all Americans have a fair shot if they work hard. Unlike Governor Romney, he doesn’t believe that if you’re a student who applies for a loan you’re looking for a handout.
Sound familiar? If they work hard? When and where did Obama say that?
The fact that another talking point is to drag Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber into the mix says much about how afraid they are, lest this story be adequately explored. That same CNN story says,
In the 2008 presidential campaign, the “redistribution” argument arose when Obama told Samuel Wurzelbacher (known to most as “Joe the Plumber”) that “when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”
Sen. John McCain, the 2008 GOP nominee, claimed Obama was running “running to be redistributionist in chief.” His running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, went further, saying “now is not the time to experiment with socialism.”
But look who was also repeating this same meme: Ben LaBolt again!
The Romney campaign is so desperate to change the subject that they’ve gone back to the failed playbook co-authored by Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber.
Do you get the feeling that there’s possibly coordination between the Obama campaign, his spokespersons, and the media? Say it isn’t so! How is it that all of these stories, exploring the same angles, sprang up, seemingly full blown, as soon as this Romney video hit the news?
Do please note the key sentence in Obama’s 1998 statement:
I think the trick is figuring out how do we structure government systems that pool resources and hence facilitate some redistribution.
Obama says the “trick” is to figure out how to STRUCTURE GOVERNMENT SYSTEMS THAT POOL RESOURCES.
SYSTEMS. Government SYSTEMS that pool resources.
This sounds like what goes on in Venezuela under Hugo Chavez and Cuba under Fidel Castro, as Bridgette recently pointed out.
WHOSE RESOURCES DOES OBAMA PLAN TO POOL?
What does it mean to “pool resources”? It means that everybody puts everything they have into one basket and then everybody gets back the same amount as everyone else. Thus, some who have earned more will have their wealth redistributed to others, who have not earned it. Who have no skin in the game. All shall be equally miserable.

I guess we now negotiate with terrorists! Well, we knew that fact when it was leaked that Obama’s administration was secretly having tea and crumpets with the Tailban. It appears not negotiating or aiding and abetting terrorists isn’t part of Obama’s foreign policy – but then most of what he does is not understood by Americans. How many Americans realize or know that we supplied Al Qaeda with weapons and those weapons just might be linked to the deaths of the 4 people in Libya?
Sure let them have the Sheik – can he be sent over in a coffin? Otherwise, let him rot right where he is.
Once they get the Sheik, then they will want all of those fighters kept at Gitmo and in other prisons. Send them all back in appropriate coffins – so we the taxpayers don’t have to pay for their keep. Now that would send a real message. Plus no special Muslim ceremony is to be performed, just dump them in, nail it shut, and put it on a plane post haste. In fact, let those bare-boned boxes be dropped by parachute – they might collect some of their 72 angels in flight.

Late Tuesday evening, Jacobson obtained the following comment from David Corn of Mother Jones: According to the source, the recording device inadvertently turned off. The source noticed this quickly and turned it back one [sic]. The source estimates that one to two minutes, maybe less, of recording was missed.

Mother Jones has failed a basic test and broken its promise to its readers and the public. There is now reason to doubt that it provided Romney’s full remarks–not just the context, but the remarks themselves. And there is new reason to suspect manipulation.
Corn promised the complete version of Romney’s remarks. Instead, he provided a version that is missing a large portion of video at the critical moment. Mother Jones’s entire story now deserves to be treated with suspicion, if not contempt.

I guess nobody noticed the videographer scrambling around, nervously starting that recorder again! Who taped it? Why is this person anonymous? How did Anne Onymous get the tape? Who IS Anne Onymous? Gee, interesting name. Anne. Will anyone try to find out who she is, like they rushed up to scrabble through Sarah Palin’s trash to learn all about her and her family? Will anyone offer a bounty on the identity of this undercover rat?
Don’t the people who run the fundraisers make caterers and other vendors swear that their people will NOT do things like this? What state did this take place in? Will the DOJ go after this crime, if it is illegal to tape this event and Romney, without his permission? Just like they demonized and tried to go after James O’Keefe?

At the moment, I’m hoping that SOMEBODY who was at that Romney fundraiser will have a tape to prove what Mother Jones excised. I’m convinced now, the way they edited that tape and erased 2 minutes, that this tape was modified to make it appear as if Romney said what they are falsely saying he said.
It was repeated again in my local paper today–that Romney writes off 47% of the electorate as lazy freeloaders that he’s not going to worry about because nothing he says will persuade them to take responsibility for themselves..
LIARS. That is NOT what he said. Now they write about the “implications” of what he said. He implied nothing. They’re the ones making false INFERENCES. There’s a huge difference and journalists know that.
Nowhere did they report that the tape was edited, taken out of context, and, magically, the missing parts are gone forever. So suspicious.
EXACTLY like the situation with the GWB national guard records. These people are one-trick ponies. The difference is that back then, the media actually reported on the fraud. This time, they’re not saying a word. Only in the blogsphere and at places like Daily Caller and Breitbart do we learn the truth. Until Drudge has it, nobody in the lamestream will cover it, if then.
They also didn’t play Barry’s tape on my local NBC TV news last night, although Brian Williams did play it on the national news. But the thrust of his story was that Romney is wounded in the water, thrashing around, just waiting to die. The MEDIA ARE NOT ON OUR SIDE.
I watched the tape with the two minutes missing and I still don’t see anything wrong with what Mitt said. They are trying to make this a “you didn’t build that” moment for the Dems that are working; for the wealthy Dems; the elite Dems I know a wealthy Dem and they are livid with Romney for putting them in the same camp as the non-working class. To them I say shut up. The fact remains that his numbers are close to reality. If you don’t want to be associated with and lumped in with the mooching masses, vote for Mitt.
My guess is that what they excised was something between when he talked about the 47% who don’t pay taxes, and then when he said some group of people (unknown because they ERASED that part) think of themselves as victims and nothing he ever says will make them vote for him or make them want to take responsibility for their own lives.
What I mean is that they wanted to link the 47% who don’t pay income taxes directly to his statement about people who expect government to take care of them. But I suspect that what he really said, in the missing minutes, was to bring up the group of people who are on the dole totally and THAT’S who he meant when he talked about not worrying about them. Not that he’s writing off the 47% who don’t pay income taxes.
They WANTED to make it sound as if Romney was criticizing the working poor and the elderly and investors who don’t pay “income” taxes, when his subject was probably a much narrower group, but they deliberately spliced the tape, taking out the context, in order to make it appear as if he said something that he DID NOT SAY.
I’d be willing to bet that’s what happened. This was to be their Oct. surprise, but they had to let it go early. The fact that the media STILL don’t report the missing minutes, that it’s out of context, and that the reporter “corrected” only after called on it indicates that they wanted a sound bite to smear Romney with, at the last minute, when he couldn’t refute it AND that they wanted to somehow link this to their OTHER campaign/meme about Romney himself not paying taxes.
Why else did Reid outright LIE? Romney was smart to call their bluff and involve Price Waterhouse, who released that statement about the taxes he paid for the past 20 years.
They have put out that lie that Price Waterhouse’s records were stolen. Putting out the “notion” that there’s a copy of Romney’s taxes floating around.
Maybe the Romney campaign has FINALLY wised up to what a group of corrupt people they’re dealing with. What we can expect the obots to do is to FORGE those records or modify them to make them look very bad in some way. Right before the election. Claim that the person who broke into the accounting company’s files released them to the media and SINCE they’re so “newsworthy”, what with it being a huge campaign issue (courtesy of the JournOlist and their corrupt collaboration with the WH), the media just MUST release them, provenance or not, illegally obtained or not.
And then, if Romney releases something else, they will make it look as if it’s ROMNEY who’s falsifying his own records. I wouldn’t even put it past them to have changed his tax returns AT the IRS and then stolen the Price Waterhouse records in order to make it look AS IF Romney didn’t pay taxes. Nothing these people do would surprise me. They are THAT corrupt.
Last night, on TV news, they said Romney released his tax returns for 2011, but they specifically said the DemoncRATS want him to release more years, “something Romney has steadfastly refused to do.” There was NO MENTION OF THE SUMMARY OF THE PAST 20 YEARS THAT PRICE WATERHOUSE RELEASED. NOTHING said about that (or the huge amount he gave to charity).
They planned this to be a big thing. This was the only thing they could drum up to try to make Romney look bad, given what a straight arrow he is and what a perfect example of how someone can achieve the American Dream.
To smear him with this crap about his taxes and how rich he is, AS IF THE KENNEDYS, THE ROOSEVELTS, THE KERRYS, the Gateses, the Hollywood obots, Soros, etc., AREN’T WEALTHY BEYOND IMAGINATION. As if the Obamas aren’t wealthy!

How is it that they played the Romney video, which CANNOT BE VERIFIED and WHICH IS ADMITTEDLY INCOMPLETE, MISSING TWO MINUTES OF THE MOST CRUCIAL PART, WHERE ROMNEY SPEAKS ABOUT THE 47%, but she won’t play that very clear video which is undoubtedly Obama and which is known. WHO IS ANNE ONYMOUS? wE NEED TO KNOW. Andrea doesn’t know, but NBC plays THAT video. That edited, out of context, unprovenanced video. The “provenance” we do have is extremely suspect. James Carter IV, who handed it to two of the most liberal “news” entities out there. HOW did Andrea “verify” that video? It’s outrageous. MENDACITY!!!!!

Those that speak for the right aren’t bloggers so they are “trained” in the techniques and how to shut the Left up. Our voices need some debate classes in how to speak to them and ridicule them in return if they want to continue down this path. Telling facts to the anchors of these “news” programs, doesn’t work because all they do is twist those facts into something that has the opposite meaning. Or they totally change the subject matter. Very seldom do we see conservatives taking on the libs and showing them up. Breitbart did it, Newt does, and Alan West does.
The MSM ask mamby pambies onto their shows so they can ridicule them period. They aren’t invited to show a distinction between their thoughts and the invitees. They attack the person with disinformation and make it appear the person is uninformed, stupid, and not worthy of being listened to. Why did he, in talking about his “dreams”, first say, “my father” and then go back and say, more specifically, “my AFRICAN father?” Does he have more than one father? When was this video? Mid-90s? (When he was still born in Kenya?) Is that the “wedding ring” he wore all through college? Yep. There it is, “collectively” we “make decisions” about the markets, technology, mass media and “progress”. The commenter asks who “we” are who make these decisions? And then asks him how he will achieve his democracy with a “small d” when the “entire American history speaks against it as a possibility?” So note their emphasis on the need for mob rule, which is exactly what democracy with a small d means. Sheer majority control. NO minority rights. (THIS IS NOT A DEMOCRACY. IT’S A REPUBLIC.)
He was on the book tour for Dreams..so that would date the interview. It says 1995. Did he say anything that made real sense? That was such a disjointed interview. His sssss’s, uh’s, and and and’s, and whistling sounds were beyond annoying. Who would buy his book after that?
Even back then, he said NOTHING. He talked in platitudes that he had down pat, even back then.

Miri, this is very important. I just watched the 14 minute video with Barack. What ever you do don’t lose this video . Keep it safe. There are some antics, body language, hand gestures, and language here almost verifiably , indeniably similar to someone he says he hardly knows. Either he and Mark were trained together for their special purpose in life, or they are more than aquaintances…..I will have to find the vids of Mark, but I have thought all along something in their voices and patterns of speech were similar, but in the oddest way. THeir language was to perfect. Notice how Barack speaks in this video in particular. It’s the vid right after his green suit interview. Notice all his nodding . listen how he says (example) “sure” when he reads from his book. THeres so much here. I mean a whole whole lot.

For what it’s worth. They’re continuing with the meme that it wasn’t a planned “opposition hit” to have Romney taped at that fundraiser. But they’re alluding to it being done by someone who DIDN’T pay to attend and who just suddenly realized he or she would be in the room with Romney. Right. So they just happened to go in prepared to videotape the entire event. If it was a waiter or the like, then wouldn’t the person be busy working? And isn’t there a rule against taping those who employ you? Person needs to be exposed and fired. It’s underhanded and unethical, if not illegal. I think it’s a lie, though. So sayeth Corn, the so-called reporter from Mother Jones who has, I believe, already vouched for the provenance. But if he knows so little, then how does he know it’s real? He didn’t even admit up front that it was edited and missing 2 crucial minutes.

I made a point of watching all three nightly newscasts last night to watch this spin in action. NBC mentioned it and moved on. ABC mentioned Romney would probably use this against the President. At the end of its mention of the comment, CBS News’ reporter said, “He may not have meant it exactly the way it came out.”(You can see this here are 7:05.)
All, every single one of them, felt the need to mention Romney’s hidden camera “gaffe” that wasn’t. Why? What does something that happened four days ago have to do with an unrelated event that happened yesterday? Nothing. But when the President screws up, it must be given either context or be accompanied with a distraction. When Romney says something that, when in context is true, it must be reported as if it were a free-standing statement.
Context is very important to liberals…when it impacts liberal politicians. Not so much when it comes to attacking Republicans. Editors at Mother Jones, the leftist magazine that brought the “controversial” Romney tape public said they would release the whole, unedited tape.Then they claimed they did. Only they didn’t. Oddly enough, the tape mysteriously cuts out right at the end of the clip the media drooled over and picks up later. What’s missing? Who knows? Was it something that gave the comments even more context that further undercuts the spin Mother Jones put on it? Don’t know, and the media doesn’t care. David Corn, the activist who brought the tape public, admitted the gap but doesn’t have a real explanation for it nor concern. Why would he? The message he wanted out from it was out, the rest be damned.
Yet the same people cheering an edited Romney tape went insane because James O’Keefe wasn’t dressed like Huggy Bear when getting advice on how to smuggle underage children into the country for his prostitution business. As if pimps have uniforms and someone seeking sex slave advice while wearing a white shirt is secret code for “I’m just kidding.”
Hypocrisy? Absolutely. Surprising? Not at all.
The tape of Obama expressing his support for redistribution of wealth got virtually no mention this week on nightly newscasts. Maybe because it’s old and not surprising at all, but it’s more likely it’s because his supporters in the media deemed it not important. NBC, the President’s biggest media cheerleader, posted a defense of it with the standard “out of context” claim. If it’s not worth reporting why is it worth “debunking”?
By the way, their “full tape” only makes the President’s remarks worse from a free-market/limited government perspective. It shows a fundamental misunderstanding of, or disdain for, free-market capitalism upon which this country became the economic engine of the world and built the middle class.”

How does he know this would be the person’s first offense? In addition, the obot goes on to provide three defenses for the person, advance help in case the perp gets caught? They weren’t so helpful to Linda Tripp, though. What he thinks is the best defense (which is pretty lame):

Hmm. Bloggers are told by judges that they are NOT protected as members of the “press”, so are obots now prepared to argue that a caterer’s wait staff are now members of the media, exercising the “right” to freedom of the press?
Notice the similarity between what the so-called taper said (allegedly) about thinking Romney might say something of interest that deserves taping and what this obot offers to him or her as a defense–that Romney was making important remarks about the election. That is such a stretch.
If only we had such helpful legal advice when judges and Obama lawyers said that We the People have NO STANDING to question the qualifications under the Constitution of our own employee.
