Happy 4th of July to all of our authors, readers, commenters, and friends.  

 

Remember the Patriots who fought for our freedom.  Remember our troops and all of our brave veterans, without whom there would be no freedom for us to celebrate this day. 

 

Think of them while you enjoy barbecue, games, fireworks or 

 

chili cookoffs!  

 

 

 

May God bless the United States of America.

    Happy 4th to all! No fireworks because of the drought in our area. Will have later as the weather improves!

      Happy 4th to everyone! No fireworks here, either. It’s amazing. The quietest 4th ever. I haven’t heard even ONE firecracker or bottle rocket. Nothing. So, just look at the pretty pictures on our post and pretend. 🙂 I’m going to watch the fireworks on TV. Ate my barbecue already and now I’m checking in with everyone. Hope you’re enjoying a day off!

    I’d love to go to a chili cook-off.
    I love chili. Best I ever had was in a small diner up in the mountains of Colorado while a blizzard raged outside.

      I don’t. I can’t make chili the same from one time to the next. My mother-in-law makes the best but I don’t know her secret. I like it with beans, so guess I’m a Yankee. Huh?

        dave m, here’s a recipe I came up with for a delicious quick chile years ago. It’s quick, easy, and it taste great!

        ( I always make a fairly large batch of it as the more you re-heat it as left overs the better it is!)

        2 – pound’s ground beef (cook thoroughly – drain off fat)
        add 4-5 16oz can’s of V-8 juice (yes V-8 juice!)
        2 – packets of Lowery’s chile seasoning mix
        1 – 16oz can chile beans in chile sauce
        1 – 16oz can Dennison’s chile con carne with meat and beans
        1 – 7oz can green chiles diced (Optional)

        Mix together in pan, heat and it’s ready to eat. I’ll usually let it simmer for about 15 – 20 minutes to let the flavorings mix. Be sure if you want left overs to keep on hand an extra can of V-8 to add for more juice because of evaporation.

        Be sure to pile on chopped onion and shredded yellow cheese after fixing a bowl, yummm….then enjoy 🙂

    WASHINGTON — The Obama administration is moving toward decisions that would further cut the number of U.S. nuclear weapons, possibly to between 1,000 and 1,100, reflecting new thinking on the role of nuclear weapons in an age of terror, current and former officials say.

    The reductions under consideration are in line with President Barack Obama’s vision of trimming the nation’s nuclear arsenal without harming national security in the short term, and in the longer term, eliminating nuclear weapons.

    The White House has yet to announce any plan for reducing the number of nuclear weapons, beyond commitments made in the recently completed New Start treaty with Russia, which obliges both countries to reduce their number of deployed long-range nuclear warheads to no more than 1,550 by 2018. As of March 1, Russia had dropped its total to 1,492 and the U.S. stood at 1,737.

    Obama has been considering a range of options for additional cuts, including a low-end range that would leave between 300 and 400 warheads. Several current and former officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations, said there appeared to be a consensus building around the more modest reduction to 1,000 to 1,100 deployed strategic warheads.

    Officials have indicated that a decision could be announced this month. But given Republican criticism of any proposed further cuts and the heating up of the presidential election campaign, the White House might put the decisions on hold until after November. The administration has indicated it would prefer to pursue further reductions as part of a negotiation with Russia, but some have suggested that reductions could be done unilaterally.

    So when Russia and China still have about 10,000 warheads and we
    have about 400, they may well fell the time is right to end capitalism
    once and for all. I wonder if Obama will be out of the country on that
    day of infamy? They might not have to actually use their weapons.
    Obama may offer surrender. This is who he is.

      Unilaterally. His favorite word. The New START only requires us to drop to 1550 warheads, and I presume the other signatories have to do the same. As if. Just like how Iran is supposed to not be developing nuclear weapons. Yes, Barry wants to unilaterally disarm the USA. Completely. After his “last election” he’ll be more “flexible.” Or so he told Vlad. Just another reason why he needs to be evicted from the WH.

    1936 Constitution of the U.S.S.R. (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics):

    …the church in the U.S.S.R. is separated from the state…

I had planned one full day of research and decided to pick a state library to start in and was told that “We no longer hold the microfilm copies here.” I was met with obvious disdain that was un-nerving to say the least, at at the time I was only asking for March of 1982, not 1961! I went to another library as was met with the same information and treatment.
    I think they are treating obvious mainland creatures who are researching all the same.

      Excellent that Jack Cashill is talking about LTC Lakin. MOST in the US have NO CLUE about Lakin’s horrific story and his persecution by Barry, for NAUGHT if you truly believe that the LFCOLB is accurate.

      Wow. Cashill collaborated on LTC Lakin’s book. I hope it’s a best seller so he gets back at least some of the benefits we OWE him. We do owe it to him to buy his book. It’s the least we can do after his brave sacrifice. Nothing would be better than to see his book at the top of the NY Times best seller list. Then they would HAVE TO pay attention to it. What a complete hypocrite Obama is. It is truly amazing. The psychiatrist ought to be evaluating the CiC, not Lakin.

      Jane is the MOTHER of Doug and Brad Pitt. She is lovely and she’s smart, too. Somehow, because she tells the TRUTH about Obama, the media now thinks Brad was incorrect to describe his mother as “very, very loving — very open, genuine” and “without an ounce of malice in her.” Even Angelina has criticized Obama and praised Bush. Brad, it seems, is a victim of that syndrome that we noticed earlier this week, in talking about actors. The density factor, if you get my drift.

                What you ladies gave me was a helpful refresher. I haven’t found exacly what I was looking for, which would be material related to something I read elsewhere this morning:

                Today is the anniversary of a very significant but sad day in Hawaiian History. On this day in 1887, King David Kalakaua was forced to sign, under threat of force, a Constitution document that later became known as the “Bayonet Constitution” removing much of his power to govern his kingdom, forming a Constitutional Monarchy much like what exists in the United Kingdom. Unlike the similar Magna Carta in British history, this coup eventually was used to remove the Hawaiian monarchy completely and hasten the establishment of the Hawaiian Islands under U.S. control. This was not a direct action of the U.S. Government, but instead a power grab by a group of mostly American bankers and lawyers who profited handsomely from the move. The family of one of the more well-known of this group, Sanford B. Dole, still controls considerable land and agricultural interests in Hawaii.

                One of the more shameful aspects of this power grab was that it was made possible through Christian missionary activity that over time gained the complete trust of the Hawaiian monarchy, under the pretext of friendship, only to utterly betray it. The corruption of some of these missionaries was later criticized by writer Robert Louis Stevenson in 1890. This was publicized, somewhat, in Stevenson’s support of Father Damien of Molokai against the attacks of the Rev. Dr. Hyde of Honolulu. The photo at right is Stevenson with the deposed King Kalakaua.

                I thought we had written enough about the Hawaiian history and royals that we should have material on King Kalakaua, but I didn’t find much here. I’m confused about what exactly it is that I think I remember 😉

                    The Hawaiian “birth certificate” program.
                    The Dept. of Hawaiian Homelands does NOT accept the “Certification of Live Birth” as documentation. This is the same document that Obama is showing the world as proof of his Hawaiian birth and American “natural born citizen” status.
                    If you submit the “Certification of Live Birth” to the DHHL, they will make phone calls and written inquiries (to have a paper trail) to the office of Vital Statistics, to confirm information that WOULD BE on the “Birth Certificate,” that is NOT present on the “Certification of Live Birth.”
                    The DHHL, being a Hawaii state agency, KNOWS the loopholes built into the Hawaiian “birth certificate” system. Many of the laws Hawaii has hearken back to BEFORE the Hawaiian Organic Act, BEFORE Hawaii was a territory, BEFORE King Kalakaua ruled...
                    IN FACT, the court that Ann Dunham filed for her FIRST divorce through in 1964 was done through a Hawaiian court, the “Circuit Court of the First Judicial Circuit” that I’ve traced back to the 1860s. That court is defunct today. The judge is in his 90s and retired from the Hawaiian court system. There are many antiquated procedures and laws still on the books that are mired in the annuls of Hawaiian history.
                    As an island nation, Hawaii has had procedures in place to allow for “stragglers” who were born on other islands, or in other countries (Guam is similar, BTW). Such is the “loophole” Sun Yat-sen exploited, Chinese revolutionary and political leader often referred to as the “Father of Modern China.” He was able to file a “Certificate of Hawaiian Birth” application and immigrate to the US in 1904 using the form. Yat-sen was born in Guangdong province, China, in 1866. His “Certificate of Hawaiian Birth” was issued based on Sun’s typewritten testimony rather than on any documentation from witnesses. The “Certificate of Hawaiian Birth” for WAS STILL ISSUED UP UNTIL 1972; BHO was born in 1961.
                    SO, let’s see, how could a person like Ann Dunham (and later BHO when he was an adult) exploit Hawaiian “birth certificate” law?

                    • file for a “Certificate of Hawaiian Birth”, using affidavits from herself and her mother saying he was born in Hawaii …
                    • convert the “Certificate of Hawaiian Birth” to a “Certificate of Late Birth” as state law allows…
                    • convert the “Certificate of Late Birth” to a “Certificate of Live Birth,” with comments in Block 23, “Evidence for Delayed Filing or Alteration”…
                    • and then BHO uses the “Certification of Live Birth,” which was created and first used in Nov 2001, to hide any prior alterations or modifications!


                    Did it happen THAT way? It’s anyone’s guess. BUT because the Hawaiian “birth certificate” program is SO freakin’ loose, it’s quite possible, with other variations possible as well.
                    ADD TO THAT that Obama’s “Certification of Live Birth” states in the bottom lefthand corner: “Date FILED by Registrar” vs. “Date ACCEPTED by State Registrar,” there’s plenty of reason to be suspicious.

                      That certificate of Hawaiian birth was still issued until 1972. He returned permanently to Hawaii to live with the Dunhams in 1971. BHO Sr. and SAD were both present that Christmas in Hawaii. WHY? I have always thought that it had something to do with him reasserting his paternity but maybe it had something to do with the two of them filing affidavits stating he was born in Hawaii. (Or was that Huwai?) 🙂

            there was an immigration law regarding legitimation i think that was going to go into effect on Jan 1, 1972. i can’t remember what it was at the moment, but there are also some nuances of immigration law that makes me think that he was born abroad and there was a legitimation issue. there were all sorts ofdifferent rules for passing derivative citizenship to your child born abroad. it was different for married v unmarried and for mothers v fathers. generally, easier for a mother to pass it and for a married citizen to pass it, but there were still physical presence requirements. the law that applies is the one at time of birth, however, some later ones are retroactive, such as the legitimation one if the child was legitimized before age 21. if anybody has time its 8 USC sec. 1401, 1409 you have to look at but you’ve got to look at the 1961 version and then look at the changes made in 71-72. i don’t have time until next week probably.

    Oh my, we had something similiar here. One night a “lawnmower” (perfect description) was so close over the house it blew air into the windows. It took, what seemed like a long time to pass over the house, almost like it was sitting must above the trees, which is where the breeze came from. We got up but never saw anything. It did not sound like an airplane and lingered too long to be one. Husband said must have been a helicopter or two, military, doing manuvers (yeah, honey, when does that happen around here???) We live close to an airport, not major though, and just brushed it off. Never heard anything quite like it. At the time, I voiced how strange it was but my family really sometimes reaches a limit with me and my tinnie collection. Oh well. doodoodoodo

      OMG! Another unique, amazing coinkidink involving ONLY Barry Soetoro Obama’s records! First his kindergarten records from Hawaii go missing. Then his Muslim school records in Indonesia get eaten by bugs! Then, amazingly, the exact week that Barry was born is MISSING from the microfilm at the National Archives–the records that would show if he was brought into the country from elsewhere by his mother. Port of entry records–missing just for HIS week of birth. Now we’re to believe that it was an “error” in the national clearing house records just for Barry Obama’s first year at Columbia. This is what butterdezillion says happened with the index that showed Barry and not Virginia Sunahara, when most certainly Virginia should have been in the index, since she WAS born, only to sadly die. Sort of a lead-in to he, himself dismanteling the image he created or the beginning of blending his real life with the life of Barak Obama, which he assumed after childhood? Or preparing us to dump his real id, the one he has given in exchange for another fellow who was American and went across the the US at eleven? The guy is one hell of a con artist. Back to Barry telling us the truth. He is up to something with this specific story. Way too much is documented that he never went beyond California in Mainland US until late teens or later. He traveled everywhere but the Mainland (well, we don’t know if was in Washington Staate as infant with Stanley.) Is this prep to blame the press for making a fictional story Dreams his real life story? Or is he coming out of closet, and thinks there will be no ramifications now that Regime in place, that he is just some hustling street punk who converted to Islam while doing prison time?       Can you believe that the lamestream is hyping Romney’s vacation that he took over the 4th and that he’s going to the Olympics before meeting with the Israelis? They want to make him look like he vacations as much as Obama. Even if he did, which he doesn’t, at least he and Mrs. Romney PAY THEIR OWN WAY, WITH MONEY THEY EARNED THEMSELVES.

      When Obama was 11, huh? So right after he allegedly returned to Hawaii to live with the Dunhams? 1962 1972 or would it be ’63 ’73, if before August? That’s part of the meme. Even campgrounds like HoJo’s cost money, unlike roughing it in a free state park or in a national forest.

    Robert Edward “Bob” Diamond Jr. (born July 27, 1951)[4] is an American banker and former group chief executive of the British bank, Barclays Plc.[13]

    He was chief executive of Corporate & Investment Banking and Wealth Management, comprising Barclays Capital, Barclays Corporate and Barclays Bank. Diamond was executive director of the boards of Barclays Plc and Barclays Bank Plc and had been a member of the second largest British-based banking group’s Executive Committee from September 1997 until July 2012. He joined the firm in the summer of 1996.[14]

    Bob Diamond was voted the 37th in the New Statesman’s annual survey of the world’s 50 most influential figures Who Matter 2010.[15]

    From October 1, 2010, Diamond became Deputy Group Chief Executive.[16] He succeeded John Varley as Group Chief Executive on January 1, 2011.[17]

    Diamond resigned as chief executive of Barclays on July 3, 2012, following controversy over alleged fixing of Libor interest rates by traders employed by the bank.

Diamond was formerly Vice Chairman and Head of Global Fixed Income and Foreign Exchange. Based in New York, he was a member of the Executive Board and Operating Committee.

    Diamond led the effort to purchase key assets of Lehman Brothers after its bankruptcy in September 2008, instantly giving Barclays a key foothold in investment banking.[24]

    On January 1, 2011, Diamond succeeded John Varley after Varley stepped down as group chief executive in 2011.[25]

    Just 24 hours after the chairman, Marcus Agius, announced his resignation,[26] Diamond resigned with immediate effect on July 3, 2012, following the LIBOR scandal.[11]

    During his tenure at Barclays, Diamond received criticism for his level of pay, his perceived lack of humility or modesty, and for being the bank’s chief executive or otherwise seen as responsible, at the time a number of malpractices were identified within the bank. Ultimately it was the finding of money market rate manipulation in 2012 that was the direct trigger for his departure.

    In 2010 Diamond was described as “the unacceptable face” of banking by the then business secretary Lord Mandelson citing Diamond’s high level of pay (quoted as £63m) and lack of humility.[27][28] In early 2011, Barclays announced that Diamond would receive an annual bonus of £6.5 million in 2011, the largest of any CEO of a British bank.[29]

    In June 2012 Barclays was fined £59.5 million by the FSA (£290 million in total) for “serious, widespread breaches of City rules relating to the Libor and Euribor rates”.[30][31] The bank had been found to have lied, sometimes to make a profit, and other times to make the bank look more secure during the financial crisis.[32] The UK’s Financial Services Authority (FSA), which levied a fine of £59.5 million (US$92.7 million), gave Barclays the biggest fine it had ever imposed in its history.[33] The FSA’s director of enforcement described such behaviour as “completely unacceptable”, adding “Libor is an incredibly important benchmark reference rate, and it is relied on for many, many hundreds of thousands of contracts all over the world.”[32] Liberal Democrat politician Lord Oakeshott criticised Diamond, saying: “If he had any shame he would go. If the Barclays board has any backbone, they’ll sack him.”[32] The U.S. Department of Justice had also been involved in the investigation.[32] Diamond announced on June 29 2012 that he would not resign over the bank’s role in the fraud.[34] Diamond voluntarily gave up his bonus for 2012 after this was reported but stated he would not step down. However, following widespread anger at his refusal to step down and amidst concerns that his presence could be harmful to the Barclays brand, he resigned on July 3, 2012, from the post of chief executive officer.[35]

He is an avid sports fan, supporting the Red Sox in Baseball, Chelsea F.C. in soccer, the New England Patriots in American football, and the Boston Celtics in Basketball. Diamond is a Republican[37] and an adviser to Conservative Mayor of London Boris Johnson.
