Disclaimer:  Sorcha Faal, the nom de plume of David Booth,  always writes intriguing conspiracy news stories that are full of speculation and usually have no viable sources.  Yet this article is filled with sources for his information.  Except, as yet ,  no source for the information coming from Russia’s Federal Atomic Energy Agency has been located; so this information  can not be verified through another news source.

If what he writes is true, the Obama regime is  complicit in not revealing information of concern to the  American public and it shows a blatant disregard for human life.  Our lives.

We still have a reason to be concerned about the flooding at the Nebraska Nuclear Plants and if the public is getting up-to-date information from the  government  or the media.

US Orders News Blackout Over Crippled Nebraska Nuclear Plant

By:  Sorcha Faal, and as reported to her Western Subscribers
June 16, 2011

A shocking report prepared by Russia’s Federal Atomic Energy Agency (FAAE) on information provided to them by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) states that the Obama regime has ordered a “total and complete” news blackout relating to any information regarding the near catastrophic meltdown of the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant located in Nebraska.

According to this report, the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Plant suffered a “catastrophic loss of cooling” to one of its idle spent fuel rod pools on 7 June after this plant was deluged with water caused by the historic flooding of the Missouri River which resulted in a fire causing the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) to issue a “no-fly ban” over the area.

Located about 20 minutes outside downtown Omaha, the largest city in Nebraska, the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Plant is owned by Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) who on their website denies their plant is at a “Level 4” emergency by stating:

“This terminology is not accurate, and is not how emergencies at nuclear power plants are classified.”

Russian atomic scientists in this FAAE report, however, say that this OPPD statement is an “outright falsehood” as all nuclear plants in the world operate under the guidelines of the International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale (INES) which clearly states the “events” occurring at the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant do, indeed, put it in the “Level 4” emergency category of an “accident with local consequences” thus making this one of the worst nuclear accidents in US history.

Though this report confirms independent readings in the United States of “negligible release of nuclear gasses” related to this accident it warns that by the Obama regimes censoring of this event for “political purposes” it risks a “serious blowback” from the American public should they gain knowledge of this being hidden from them.

Interesting to note about this event was the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Chief, Gregory B. Jaczko, blasting the Obama regime just days before the near meltdown of the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant by declaring that

“the policy of not enforcing most fire code violations at dozens of nuclear plants is “unacceptable” and has tied the hands of NRC inspectors.”

This report further notes that the “cover-up” of this nuclear disaster by President Obama is being based on his “fantasy” of creating so-called green jobs which he (strangely) includes nuclear power into as his efforts to bankrupt the US coal industry proceed at a record breaking pace.

Unknown to the American people about Obama’s “war” on the US coal industry is it’s estimated to cost them over a 60% increase in their electricity bills by 2014 and cause over 250,000 jobs to be lost in an already beleaguered economy.

More ominous for those American people whose lives depend on the coal industry that is being deliberately destroyed is the Obama regime’s massive “security exercise” currently ongoing in the major coal mining States of Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia, and as we can read about, in part, as reported by InfoWars.Com:

“If you’re still living under the delusion that the TSA is just restricted to airports then think again. A joint VIPR “security exercise” involving military personnel has Transportation Security Administration workers covering 5,000 miles and three states, illustrating once again how the TSA is turning into a literal occupying army for domestic repression in America.”

The TSA, in alliance with a whole host of federal, state, local agencies as well as military personnel, is currently conducting a massive “security exercise” throughout Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia.

“The participating teams are composed of a variety of TSA assets including federal air marshals, canine teams, inspectors and bomb appraisal officers. They will be joined by state and local law enforcement officials to supplement existing resources, provide detection and response capabilities. The exercise will utilize multiple airborne assets, including Blackhawk helicopters and fixed wing aircraft as well as waterborne and surface teams,” reports the Marietta Times.

Although the exercise is couched in serious rhetoric about preparedness, it relates to “no specific threat” and the details are nebulous to say the least and seems to revolve around little else than testing out high-tech surveillance equipment and reminding Americans who their bosses are.

Obama’s fears of the American people turning against nuclear power, should its true dangers be known, appear to be valid as both Germany and Italy (whose people, unlike the Americans, have been told the truth) have turned against it after the disaster in Japan and vowed to close all of their atomic plants.

Perhaps even more sadly for the American people is this report stating that the Obama regime is “walking in lockstep” with Japan in their attempts to keep the truth of nuclear accidents from their citizens; which in the case of the Japanese can only be labeled as horrific as new evidence points to them knowing within hours of the Great Tsunami that their atomic reactors had melted down, but have only today ordered an evacuation of pregnant women from what are called “radiation hotspots.”

With a country that some scientists are now warning may soon become uninhabitable due to radiation damage, and with reports of mutant rabbits and radioactive whales now being reported, one wonders if in knowing the truth the American people would really want to follow Japan’s “example” instead of those people in Germany and Italy?

But, with an already documented 35% increase in the infant mortality rate for American mothers living in the western coastal regions of the US caused by radiation blowing onto them from Japan being ignored by these people there doesn’t seem to be much hope for them.

An article written on Sunday, June 19,  “Several Levees in N. Missouri Breached” reported that “several levees in northern Missouri have been breached and are failing to hold back the surge of water being released from upstream dams.”

Authorities said water — some of it from recent rain — began pouring over levees Saturday night and Sunday morning in Holt and Atchison counties, flooding farmland and numerous homes.

Meanwhile, the Nebraska Public Power District issued a flooding alert Sunday for its Cooper Nuclear power plant near Brownville, Neb., as the Missouri River continues to rise. The declaration is the least serious of four emergency notifications established by the federal commission.   The plant was operating Sunday at full capacity, and there was no threat to plant employees or to the public, said Mark Becker, a spokesman for the Columbus, Neb. based utility.

The Fort Calhoun Station, another nuclear plant along the river in eastern Nebraska, issued a similar alert June 6.   That plant near Blair, Neb., has been shut down since April and will not be reactivated until the flooding subsides.

Mark Manchester, who is the deputy director of emergency management for Atchison County,  said the river level has reached 44.6 feet, the highest on record and about 4 to 5 inches higher than 1993 flooding levels. He said minor flooding starts at 33 feet and major flooding at 43 feet.  He said residents in the area had already evacuated their homes, and officials who operate the levee went up in a helicopter and saw several “pretty good size holes starting to form.”

The officials are predicating another breach, which could displace up to 200 more people.

  1. This article talks about the GE Design…is it the same problem that the Japanese had with their reactor?

Three workers exposed to radiation at Nebraska nuclear plant
    April 11, 2011 Snips

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission announced Monday afternoon that it was investigating the “unplanned radiation exposures” of three workers on April 3, a week earlier, at the Cooper Nuclear Station near Brownville, Neb.

The NRC said it did not believe the exposure exceeded its limits. “Workers removed a long tube contaminated with highly radioactive material through the bottom of the reactor vessel, rather than through the top as is usually done, triggering radiation alarms,” the NRC reported. “The workers set the tube down and immediately left the area.”

The Cooper plant has a single boiling-water reactor of General Electric design. (GE is a part owner of NBCUniversal, which owns half of msnbc.com.)

From Blogsphere: Weathertech.com had posted this in reference to an article on whatdoesitmean.com. Whatdoesitmean.com – no one has been able to disprove (or prove) the information posted by this site.

However, the story is interesting as there was little talk about the Nebraska Nuclear Plant problems … and virtually none in the media. Looking at the picture below, you can indeed see that there is a problem.

  3. Slow but massive flooding … when will it stop?
    by DFX June 19, 2011

A lot of people have been asking the same questions, why so much flooding and when is it going to stop?

You never get a good answer. Sometimes you’ll hear “excess Snow in Montana”, or “excess Rain”. But, those answers are so vague, that it is hard to understand that their applicable to the current situation by and large. Have we had record rain? Possibly, but only in certain places. Not enough to cause this type of flooding, or is it? Why is the flooding this year, in 2011, not only condsidered “historic”, but why hasn’t it occurred in the past?

To gain more introspect to the size and scope of the current flooding, note the flood maps below.

  4. Nuclear industry chief says flooding plant is safe (Video)
Nuclear plant no problem say nuclear officials

    June 19, 2011 8:02 pm ET

Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) officials of the private nuclear plant in Nebraska say they want to dispel rumors about the plant and that photographs and videos don’t tell the whole story.

OPPD officials explained today that the “giant donut” of water, that others called an ocean now surrounding the plant, was put there to keep the plant from flooding. It’s technical term is aqua-berm. OPPD officials showed news reporters a video they had made two weeks ago to explain how they are keeping the plant safe according to KETV. “I want (people) to understand the plant is safe (and) will continue to be safe,” said Dave Bannister, one of the OPPD nuclear plant officers.

In April, OPPD asked for a no fly zone over the plant because they shut down the reactor for routine refueling the privately owned nuclear facility officials have stated.
“It has nothing to do with radiation. There is no release of radiation from the site,” Bannister said.

Smoke, no fire? Some say there was no fire at the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Station. The Pilot-Tribune reported on June 8 that firefighters said there was no fire: “The Blair Volunteer Fire Department was called to the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Station on Tuesday when smoke in an electrical cabinet set off an alert. No flames were seen and the building was aired out with fans and employees were allowed to return later in the day.”

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Operations Center has reported a fire did occur at the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Station. (See: U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Operations Center).

Flooding cause an “event” at the Fort Calhoun plant and was reported to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission:…..

Although Fort Calhoun nuclear facility is surrounded by water, the privately owned facility heads claim there is no danger and that they are prepared for the river to rise another ten feet.

  6. Cooper was near flood shutdown
    Published Monday June 20, 2011
    By Kevin Cole Snips

Operators of the Cooper Nuclear Station near Brownville said they are optimistic that floodwaters will not force the plant to shut down — at least in the next few days. The southeast Nebraska nuclear station came within about 18 inches of shutting down early Monday, when the Missouri River level at the plant rose to 43.8 feet.

The Missouri River must reach 45.5 feet (902 feet above sea level) before officials will shut down the plant, which sits at 903 feet. The plant is operated by the Nebraska Public Power District. NPPD spokesman Mark Becker said the river dropped to 43.1 feet by mid-day Monday and was expected to continue to ebb.

Becker said a problem with the National Weather Service gauge at Brownville led some to conclude that the plant was within 3 inches of a forced shut down. “We’re operating at full capacity,” Becker said. “What we’re seeing is the river leveling itself off, but we continue to watch and add protection around the plant.”

The Columbus-based utility sent a “Notification of Unusual Event” to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission when the river reached 42.5 feet about 4 a.m. Sunday. The declaration is the least serious of four emergency notifications established by the NRC.

Becker said workers have been preparing the station for flood conditions by filling sandbags, constructing barricades, stocking materials and supplies, and reinforcing the access road plant staff use to get to the station. More that 5,000 tons of sand was brought in for constructing barricades, such as Hesco barriers, around the station’s switchyard of transformers and other electrical equipment.

  7. I would be ashamed posting an article that has no basis in reality. If you don’t have proof that the information is correct jthen it is wrong to publish it and cause people to read and believe flasehoods.

    • Bob,

And if it were true..we’d be negligent for not alerting the citizens. I think I added the disclaimer to the article about other articles the author has written. Most interesting are all of the citations used and I read all of them. I am not ashamed to publish stories, because our great researchers either prove them true or false. We do here what the mainstream media doesn’t do, and we do diligently try to prove information true or false.

Funny that you say that…when Obama published his short and long form BC that has no basis in reality. Yet all the mainstream media published those forgeries. They also continue to publish articles about his family background which are just illusions of someone’s imagination. Didn’t these cause people to believe falsehoods?

    • Bob. Nobody should go astray when the author puts a DISCLAIMER right at the top of the article. Did you read it or just come here to bloviate? People DO HAVE MINDS OF THEIR OWN. Are you in favor of censorship or what? I mean, just telling others about the fact that some are suspicious doesn’t mean that right-thinking individuals will believe everything they read. Don’t you think your fellow citizens have MINDS? It’s the fault of this administration that people MUST question everything that happens and everything they do. It’s not as if We the People are Alinsky acolytes. That honor falls to Barry and Hillary. It’s very much newsworthy to report that the Corps of Engineers caused this man-made catastrophe. Sen. Roy Blunt, rightfully so, is asking for a rewrite of their so-called Bible, to put flood control and navigation back in their rightful place at the top of the priorities, with recreation and endangered species back at the bottom, where they belong. Millions of people are affected by these floods and now we see a nuclear plant at risk. What kind of idiots are running the show? Instead of worrying about what people might read and believe without much independent thought, maybe you ought to concern yourself with answering that question: What kind of idiots are making these decisions and WHY? For political reasons? Looks like.

  8. The President does not have authority to order a news blackout for such an event — Obama may be better than the average president, but he has no additional powers or authority. So the answer is, no, Obama did not order a news blackout.

There are two nuclear power stations in Nebraska affected by the floods. Fort Calhoun has been offline (for refueling) since April 9, kept offline for the flood. Cooper is still above the flood waters. We know this because it’s been extensively reported by the Omaha World-Herald, Associated Press, local CBS and NBC affiliates, and the national wires of CBS and NBC. AP reports have appeared around the world.

So it’s clear there is no news blackout.

Is this a dramatically different event? Compared with past years’ reports of events, no.

    • Wow Ed, Better than the average President? Still drinking that Kool Aid?

And how exactly do you know what powers this president has? Did you notice a news blackout on his eligibility for a couple years? Have you noticed all of his Executive Orders that try to circumvent Congress? Those marching orders were initially suggested by John Podesta and good old leftist money bags, Soros.

You would like us to believe anything that NBC or its affiliates has to say? All of the media you mentioned are in the tank for your better than average usurping conman who pretends to be president.

I haven’t followed this story and only became aware of it. I do not profess to be knowledgeable about this issue, but am certainly willing to learn what I can.

Your article was well written and worth reading by our readers.

Perhaps with your knowledge you can answer my question about the GE design being part of this reactor.. It is my theory, and only that, that the news media has not covered this story because of GE and its implications for your president’s favorite guy, Immelt.

    • Bridgette said:

Wow Ed, Better than the average President? Still drinking that Kool Aid?

The article attributes superhuman, super presidential powers to Obama. I dialed that back some. Obama isn’t superhuman enough to rewrite the Constitution, nor even nuclear safety rules, contrary to the laws and Constitution.

And how exactly do you know what powers this president has?

Ten years fighting for compensation for the downwind victims of radioactive fallout from the Nevada tests, four years of law school, work as a reporter and head of the FOIA committees in two states, work as the FOIA officer for two different federal agencies, a good understanding of newspaper and broadcast economics, and my pocket copy or the Constitution.

Did you notice a news blackout on his eligibility for a couple years?

No. His eligibility was clear in 2007 and before, and knowing the opposition researchers in McCain’s campaign and many people in Hilary Clinton’s campaign, I am confident they would have noticed and sued had he been ineligible. All of that was reported in the New York Times and AP and dozens of other outlets.

Still, many of those outlets kept reporting the ravings of the birthers. The news media didn’t even blackout the idiots and malefactors. Do you think there was a news blackout?

Have you noticed all of his Executive Orders that try to circumvent Congress? Those marching orders were initially suggested by John Podesta and good old leftist money bags, Soros.

Under federal law, executive orders must be based on a law Congress passes. What executive order do you claim gets around Congress? Number and topic, please.

You would like us to believe anything that NBC or its affiliates has to say? All of the media you mentioned are in the tank for your better than average usurping conman who pretends to be president.

Each of our major networks is owned and operated by, and tilts with the views of, conservatives. If you don’t believe NBC, look at CBS. If you don’t believe CBS, look at the other networks. Check Bloomberg News and Dow-Jones (still relatively accurate despite being owned by uber-conservative, Obama-hating Rupert Murdoch).

I went to the Omaha newspaper, a Pulitzer Prize-winning paper that is generally neutral on Obama, except when they are anti-Obama. It’s a newspaper successful in Nebraska. That should dispel any fears of political bias.

News media work to make a profit. They are slaves to the bottom line. They don’t do government dancing.

I haven’t followed this story and only became aware of it. I do not profess to be knowledgeable about this issue, but am certainly willing to learn what I can.

Do you think that Pakistani newspaper that alleged the news blackout might have a political axe to grind against Obama? The source of the blackout story is well beyond the pale in terms of bias. Plus, the paper cited a Russian nuclear regulatory agency? I’ve been unable to verify the agency even exists, let alone that it would issue such a rash statement about a power plant 10,000 miles away.

Didn’t you get a twinge of, “this doesn’t smell right?”

Seriously: You trust Putin and the Pakistanis over ABC news and AP?

I didn’t follow the story either, until a leftist acquaintance sent it to me — I think he was mistaken as I was in thinking it was the U.S. magazine, The Nation, and not a foreign newspaper (the typeface on the masthead was even pretty close).

Right away I noticed it was generally unsourced.

IAEA was meeting this week in Europe to discuss power plant safety. The entire world is, literally, watching every power plant with an issue. Nebraska’s plants are not a great concern at the IAEA (all plants are a concern, but they don’t raise alarms unnecessarily, historically).

I think we need to be skeptical of all reporting about safety at all nuclear power plants, and we should always ask, “Is this accurate.” But we can check to see. All the checks I ran said the flooding is a problem, but there’s been a lot of preparation to make sure it doesn’t go beyond “we’re flooded.”

Your article was well written and worth reading by our readers.

      Thank you.

Perhaps with your knowledge you can answer my question about the GE design being part of this reactor.. It is my theory, and only that, that the news media has not covered this story because of GE and its implications for your president’s favorite guy, Immelt.

It’s likely the reactor is a GE design — GE did so many of them — but that is not likely to skew the news. One, that work was done three GE presidents ago, prior to Immelt. Two, GE has always been a very conservative, nearly neo-Nazi organization (which is one reason airlines so trust their jet engines). Three, Immelt and Obama are not close (I think Immelt contributed to Bush a lot, and then McCain). Four, the plants are the responsibility of the local utilities that own them, now, not GE. Five, NRC is wide open to the public. If there is something in NRC files not known to the public, it’s only because the public has not looked. Nothing is secret.

Why do you say the story hasn’t been covered? I found stories in Canadian papers, on the AP wire (which goes to 300 U.S. newspapers), and on two national networks; Reuters covered the story pretty well, and Reuters has about 1,500 major clients around the world.

Why should they report a non-accident, especially with the memory of Rep. Weiner still with us?

      • Oops. Should have been “pocket copy of the Constitution.”

      • Ed, you say Obama “isn’t superhuman enough to rewrite the Constitution, nor even nuclear safety rules, contrary to the laws and Constitution.”

He doesn’t need to be superhuman enough to rewrite the Constitution. He does a good job just ignoring it, as well as laws (or lack thereof) that he disagrees with. If you don’t see this by now, you haven’t been paying much attention.

About his ineligibility: You do yourself no credit by dragging out the tired old mantra about how McCain’s and Clinton’s opposition research would have shown Obama ineligible if he was ineligible (which he is) and they would have sued. Right. ROFLMAO. Would they have standing? Why would they when others, including Keyes, didn’t (so far)? While it’s a point, it’s not the whole argument. It rests on speculation, assuming that there are/were no other factors in play, like Clinton being pressured (blackmailed?) to step aside and accept the Sec. of State position, biding her time because the powers that be chose otherwise. As far as McCain, RINO that he is and always will be, he is inscrutable. Much of what he does or does not do makes little sense. Is inconsistent. For example, his rabid support for this Libyan debacle. Your argument also ignores other possibilities, such as one of them (more likely Clinton) has the goods and prefers to hold them, to play the card at the most opportune time. In other words, these are politicians who don’t act necessarily the way an ordinary person would act.

When you deride those with whom you wish to debate, by calling them names (birthers), you lose ground. It’s a tired old tactic. Ad hominem attacks instead of arguing FACTS.

Since you’re well-versed in FOIA, and since you seem to believe there’s nothing to hide in his background which might damage his eligibility, and since he claims to want transparency, then perhaps you could ask for some of those documents they FIGHT to keep hidden rather than releasing. They continue to fight, you know, to keep the ORIGINAL birth documents hidden. Why is that, do you suppose? As a lawyer, your instincts ought to tell you why. As a reporter, too. Don’t you catch just a whiff, maybe a whiff, of mendacity?

OMG, Ed. When you ask for “number and topic”, you truly give yourself away. “Links, please?” An obot talking point and marching order.

Executive orders, you say, have to be based upon law. But if a POTUS ignores law, then what?

Ordinarily, we have a POTUS who RESPECTS the law and the Constitution, and also the PEOPLE who RULE, not the POTUS. But what do you do when a POTUS thumbs his nose at the law and the Constitution? I know what you’ll say, sue or impeach. That works if you have a patriotic group of people who aren’t paralyzed by political correctness and/or fear of a complicit lamestream media (if you don’t think they’re complicit, Google: Palin and Gingrich, for two examples, Journo-list for another).

It might work, too, if you don’t have similar fear, political correctness, and/or mendacity in the courts. Too many of which are packed with partisans who want a “living” Constitution and laws that can be stretched to the breaking point. How about debating what the meaning of “is” is or “hostilities” or “war”, for that matter?

More later, Ed. Have to run now. Catch you then!

  9. This is very concerning, whether or not the story about a news blackout is true. If the plant was within inches of being shutdown on account of flooding, one has to wonder about the wisdom of CAUSING such flooding. Did the Corps of Engineers even take this into consideration before releasing all that water?

This is a first-hand account from one MO farmer who’s been sent on a “forced vacation”. Because his corn crop will be flooded, one has to wonder if “ethanol politics” might also be a consideration here, in addition to “environmental politics” and “recreation politics” and “water politics”, as well:
    http://www.stltoday.com/news/opinion/article_716d6556-990c-5be6-a148-159e187031ba.html

“Hundreds of miles north of my little place here, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has made plans to flood my home all summer long. Call it a forced vacation. … since 2008, we’ve increasingly found that the corps has made agriculture a challenge.

We understand snowfall and rain. We know there’s been more of it in the Dakotas and Montana. It all translates into extra water in the river.

More than a year ago, friends in South Dakota talked about standing water, snowfall and overfull reservoirs. Some farmers in South Dakota were unable to plant crops in 2010 because of snow-melt water in fields along the Missouri and its tributaries. Here at Langdon, in the northwest corner of Missouri, we’ve had flood scares in three of the last four years. This year, flood fright has culminated in corps “inundation maps” — color-coded aerial photos indicating a record high flood potentially 10 feet deeper than the massive floods of 1952 and 1993. … The corps does everything by an operations manual. This is supposed to de-politicize the river so that everyone knows what to expect — even in the face of unusual events. Special interests and politics have rewritten that guide through the Missouri River Compromise so that it now seems to create more of these unusual events than it solves.

Two reasons stand out for the reasons that our home will sit empty this summer. The first is the revised Endangered Species Act first signed into law by Richard Nixon in 1973. At first, economic consequences had to be considered in plans to protect endangered species.

But during the Reagan administration, economic impacts were excluded as important considerations. That led to lawsuits against the corps as environmentalists demanded a place at the table to help write its manual. Then Gov. Bill Janklow of South Dakota sued the corps to keep reservoir levels higher following serious droughts earlier in the decade and fostered a plan to sell Missouri River water to dry Western states.

Janklow’s plan to pump water over the Rockies never came to pass, but unrealistically high water levels in lakes intended for flood control have neutralized flood prevention. One of our nation’s greatest flood control projects, one that protected our farm from river floods for more than 40 years, now seems to guarantee a flood one mostly because of what the manual says.

That’s because competing interests in recreation and the environment have eliminated the corps’ basic ability to prepare for excessive runoff by drawing reservoirs down to levels capable of absorbing more.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ River Manual is the equivalent of what an average citizen could expect if he allowed special interests to plan his vacation.”

More testimony from a resident on the front lines:

“The Big Lake area, where water has been high for the past couple weeks, has experienced major flooding in three of the last five years. But Mr. Sitherwood said this year promises to be much worse following weeks of high flows and increasing releases from the main stem dams in Montana and the Dakotas.

“I know they wouldn’t admit it, but this is a manmade event,” said Mr. Sitherwood, echoing a sentiment common in the area that the Army Corps of Engineers is mismanaging the Missouri River.[for political reasons?] “Nobody is going to tell me it isn’t. It is probably going to be historical.”

The commissioner said his own home is at risk. “Thank you Corps of Engineers,” he said.”

Then one of the aggrieved farmers should sue. That’s what we have courts and laws for .

    • Ed, we’ve seen how far people get in the courts when they sue about any grievance they have in opposition to this administration’s policies. See the Chrysler dealers, for example. Or those who owned stock in companies that went under or were bailed out, but their place in line was taken by connected ones and the little people lost their investments. Notice how the people are ruled to have no standing when they ask this president to simply present his eligibility documents TO THE COURT. Now, supposedly, he’s presented them to at least one select member of the media, but how about having his lawyer enter them into evidence in a court (instead of mentioning them in a footnote)? How about NOT sending a man to prison when all he had to do was to show LTC Lakin that original certified long-form birth certificate that he ALLEGEDLY AND BELATEDLY showed to one select member of the media and had his peeps flash at another select group of media?

“Tensions are also rising over two U.S. nuclear reactors in Nebraska located on the banks of the Missouri River, which is now at flood stage. On June 20, the Omaha, Nebraska World Herald reported that flood waters from the Missouri River came within 18 inches of forcing the Cooper Nuclear Station near Brownville, Nebraska, to shut down. Officials are poised to shut down the Cooper plant when river reaches a level of 902 feet above sea level. The plant is 903 feet above sea level. The Fort Calhoun Nuclear Plant, 20 miles north of Omaha, issued a “Notification of Unusual Event” to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission on June 6 due to local flooding. That plant is currently shut down for refueling, but will not restart because of the flooding. Compounding worries over these two plants is a shortage of sand needed to fill massive numbers of sandbags to hold off Missouri River floodwaters. One ton of sand makes just 60 sandbags, and hundreds of thousands of sandbags are needed to help save towns along the river from flooding. Sand is obtained from dredging the riverbed — and the companies that sell sand can’t dredge the river while it is flooding. These plants are already in a risky situation, and the flooding in Nebraska could easily be worsened just by a summer afternoon cloudburst.”

Whoops! Accident? A levee breach coincidentally saves the nuke plant from inundation, for the time being.

“Nebraska Nuke Plant Relieved By Breach In Missouri River Levee

    Ricky Kreitner | Jun. 24, 2011, 12:33 PM |
The rising Missouri River last night breached a levee just three miles upstream from the Cooper Nuclear Power Station in Nebraska.

Nearby Mills County, Iowa, and Atchison County, Missouri, have ordered some residents to evacuate the area due to rapidly rising flood waters.

“This is a large breach and water will be moving rapidly. Persons should stay out of this area if previously evacuated due to danger,”Atchison County Emergency Management said in a statement.

The Cooper plant is one of two nuclear power stations in Nebraska that remain threatened by the rising waters of a severely flooded Missouri River. Both are under “notification of unusual event” alerts, the lowest of four nuclear emergency classifications.

The Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) which runs the Cooper power station says the plant is safe despite still-rising floodwaters. Unlike the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Station upstream, which has been shut down since April for refueling, the Cooper plant is still in operation.

The Associated Press is reporting that rather than putting the plant in greater jeopardy, the breach in the levee has had the positive effect of lowering the level of the river around the Cooper plant.

While the water level at the plant on Thursday was seven inches short of that at which plant owners have said they would shut down production, the breach in the levee caused the river level to fall by nearly two feet this morning, allowing plant officials to breathe a much-needed sigh of relief.

Gregory Jaczko, head of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the Washington national nuclear power watchdog, is scheduled to visit the two plants on Monday.””

  15. It occurs to me that this fortuitous levee breach keeps them from having to take any extraordinary steps, in the public eye, to save the plant, which would only call more attention to the FACT that these nuclear plants are at risk in the first place, despite of (or because of) somebody’s well laid plans. Incompetence, stupidity, or cupidity (by the NWO)? You be the judge.

  16. Somebody complained about President Obama’s use of executive orders. I asked for pointers to those that are problems.

    No pointers. But Miri said:

“OMG, Ed. When you ask for “number and topic”, you truly give yourself away. “Links, please?” An obot talking point and marching order.

Gee, Miri, I didn’t take you for a completely unthinking fool. I hope I wasn’t mistaken.

Can you offer examples? I won’t insist that you cite them as a polite person would, so I can see what it is you’re complaining about. I’ll do your homework for you, though I think your case would be stronger if you did it and cited it. I’d flunk any of my high school students who made such allegations without any references at all — but I’ll cut you slack.

Can you offer even one example of an executive order that is a problem, by subject area, if not title, if you don’t have the number?

    • Well, the first executive order he made in January 2009 was a good one yet goes to show you what a hypocrite he is , revoking bushes executive order about past presidents past presidents having executive privilege, disallowing archivists and the public from presidents records. He couldn’t wait to slap George in the face and says if you want to keep records from the public , y0u’ll have to go thru me or take it to court, trying to puff up his transparency, while not one single record of Obama’s is available to us. Not even his past senate records. I have read almost his entire 77 executive orders and most seem benign, the usual, but don’t be fooled. Executive orders have always been a way to circumvent congress. And no,while most may have roots in previous statutes this simply is not entirely correct. Presidential memorandums , orders ant the like are ways to further a presidents agenda, like the many he has made with large numbers of new staff to further his health care agenda, or his civic volunteerism or environmental agenda.Once they are made they rarely are challenged because of many factors. Like Obamas orders to leave a huge number of administrative people in Afganistan and Iraq to keep the fires going.Just watch and see what happens now that congress wants us out of Libya. See what the next EO will be. Clinton took us to Kosovo with an executive order.

    • Ed
Maybe I missed something in your “credentials”.
What law school did you say you went to? Year please. Bar affiliations please? Since when do you accept uncertified documents as evidence of anything? Since you are acting as judge and jury here, maybe you should take judicial notice of the facts and information that are documented throughout the pages of this site. As it stands, YOUR lack of knowledge on the issues you raise is glaring.

Maybe you haven’t noticed that the researchers here are not your “students”…….. It is not necessary for them to cite ” number and topic” or hand feed you……they do not have to do your homework for you.

It is obvious that You have not done any research as all the references you ask for is within the articles and comments on this blog. It is one thing to have a political disagreement and yet another to attack the “messengers” of information. If you had done your homework or research your Purpose of posting here would not have been so obvious……. You may not have stuck out so obviously as a sore thumb……

    • Ed, a polite person wouldn’t come into someone else’s house and speak the way you do. Is that how you talk to your friends, say, at a party? Do you say things like, “I didn’t take you for a COMPLETELY unthinking fool?”

Subtext: Obviously you are sort of some kind of UNTHINKING FOOL. That’s a given. But maybe not completely.

We have your number already. But you know, you’re here on our sufferance. We wouldn’t come to your house (your blog) and insult you. As a matter of fact, Bridgette generously and honestly complimented you on one of your posts and recommended it to our readers. Do you know why? Because we have open minds and accept all opinions, so long as they’re given honestly and without ad hominem attacks.

You say, “I won’t insist that you cite them as a polite person would, so I can see what it is you’re complaining about. I’ll do your homework for you, though I think your case would be stronger if you did it and cited it. I’d flunk any of my high school students who made such allegations without any references at all — but I’ll cut you slack.”

So much there. Where to begin? First, you don’t have a right to “insist” on anything. Second, your implication that I’m not a “polite person” is wrong. I didn’t cite number and title because I’m not the person who brought up executive orders; but if you read the comments I did make since, you’ll see that I did cite several examples off the top of my head of Obama’s disdain for the letter as well as the spirit of many laws. Third, I’m not “complaining”. (I love how you put things, Ed. You’re so polite.) Same reason, I’m not the one who brought up executive orders. Fourth, it’s not my “homework”. Same reason, but if you’re doing somebody’s homework for them, where is it?

So you’re a high school teacher. I don’t give a rat’s patoot whether or not you think you’d “flunk” me or any of my colleagues here. We’re not putting ourselves out there for you to grade. But you seem darned set on touting your own creds. Why is that?

Is your opinion supposed to carry more weight? Because why? Because you think you’re better educated or have more experience than we?

Hate to disabuse you of the notion, but just because we don’t feel the need to brag doesn’t mean we’re not as credentialed, educated, degreed, or experienced as you. Why is that?

  17. I don’t comment here very often, but I read your blog a lot. I am posting this here because you guys are the best researchers, so you could find out if this is true. It is an article about the flooding in the midwest, and how the government is offering to buy the farmland, and then sell it to Soros. If true, this is scary. You have to scroll down past the picture. If it is true, we have to get the word out.
    Thank You

    http://barnhardt.biz/index.cfm

    • Worthwhile information jd! I am posting it in full. This goes along with information that Warren Buffett (and his ilk) have been buying up all land where water is found.

      1. File this one under “Now It All Makes Sense”. A Missouri farming and ranching contact just got off a conference call wherein he was informed that the federal government is sending out letters to all of the flooded out farmers in the Missouri River flood plain and bottoms notifying them that the Army Corps of Engineers will offer to BUY THEIR LAND.

Intentionally flood massive acreage of highly productive farm ground. Destroy people’s communities and homes. Catch them while they are desperate and afraid and then swoop in and buy the ground cheap. Those evil sons of bitches.

      2. Speaking of evil sons of bitches, George Soros appears to be “investing” in farmground through the same puppet company that he used to get into the grain elevator and fertilizer business. The company is called Ospraie Capital Management and is buying up farmground in a joint venture with Teays River Investments as a partner. Here is that announcement: http://www.absolutereturn-alpha.com/Article/2242566/Ospraie-Launches-JV-Agriculture-Fund.html

Okay. Here’s the connection. This Ospraie outfit was a hedge fund specializing in commodities that was started and run by some cocky child who didn’t know how to trade bear markets and got his butt kicked into next week in the grain market of 2008. He also lost a fortune trying to trade RARE EARTH METALS. In fact, it was so bad that he had to shut his fund down because he had promised his investors that he would give them all of their investment money back if the fund lost more than 30% in one year. Whoopsie.

But it appears that Soros swooped in and saved the day because this Ospraie is the “co-investor” with Soros that bought the remnants of ConAgra’s trading operation and renamed it . . . Gavilon. In the industry, it is widely acknowledged that Ospraie IS Soros. That three-page article citation is
      http://money.cnn.com/2008/11/12/news/companies/ospraie_demos.fortune/index.htm

As you probably remember, Gavilon just recently bought both DeBruce Grain out of Kansas City and the biggest grain elevator company in the Pacific Northwest, thus making Soros (who is the money behind Gavilon through both his own Soros Fund Management AND his de facto control of Ospraie) the third-largest grain company in the U.S. with 280 million bushels of storage capacity, behind only Archer Daniels Midland (542 million bushels storage capacity) and Cargill (344 million bushels storage capacity). That citation is here: http://www.world-grain.com/News/News%20Home/Features/2010/12/A%20powerful%20signal.aspx?p=1

Bottom line: Soros, through Ospraie, is buying up farmground. Please also note that the hotlink citation above is dated June 26, 2009. My contact says this has been going on for two years – and also remember what I told you about farmground prices inflating wildly, especially in Illinois. I have personally confirmed farmground in Illinois selling for $13,000 per acre within the last month, whereas that same kind of ground in Illinois was going for $5500 per acre the day Obama was inaugurated.

      Spread the word.

      • Bridge.. if I may call you that, one other little mention. It just occurred to me while reading that too. you know what makes rich farmland richer? Flooding. When all goes back down and the people have lost alot and many may be willing to sell, simply beause farming has gotten less and less profitable unless you are subsidized out the wadzu, and people may be at this point pretty desparate, whoever holds the land will have some very, very nutrient fortifide farmland…..maybe Monsanto will be the next Soros partner???What doesn’t look so good now is going to be sweet, sweet in the near future.

    • Thank you for being a friend, jd. 🙂 And for reading.

    • Soros isn’t a farmer. Better you should worry about the Saudis and the Chinese buying land with water rights to grow wheat — in Africa, in India, and across the world. It’s exporting water — and we need the water.

Why not worry about real threats to freedom and security, instead of stuff imagined?

  18. or the executive order he made around August or September as an amendment to the manual for Court Martials. While I don’t know much about court martials, it does seem interesting that he made any order at all relating to court martials as this was just a couple months before Lt. Terry Lakin spent three days in a court martial trial in Dec. last year. The Only court martial trial that we are aware of. I read it but cannot honestly say it relates to Terry because I wouldn’t know, but why were court martials on Obama’s mind? Obama has a vindictive soul, it is obvious in everything he says and does. No one needs a president like that. No One!

    • Alfy, Didn’t he make his first EO to seal all of his records ? Miri and Bridgette will remember.

      • Executive Order 13233 renee, and that’s not exactly it. I’ve read Bushes and Reagan’s executive order, which is the one that Obama’s executive order revokes. While I don’t have time(or really care to) explain all the distinctions of these orders, Bush’s Order made it so basically the President and the Past President can order his records not disclosed to the public, and the main thing is ,if that president should die, an appointed person, such as a family member(a wife, children, attorney, ect.) could have the executive power to still not allow priviledge to the archives of these records. Reagan’s order was similar, but Bush took it this much further. Everyone thinks Obama’s Order to revoke these powers was an act to show that his administration (he) was coming in under the most transparency. That’s why I say, so hypicritical. He still has the power to keep us from seeing his records. This is his executive priviledge.
Often presidents pass EO’s when congress isn’t in session. Another way to lessen the scrutiny of these orders. Ed may understand how individual states and governors pass proclamtions and State Executive Orders, as they are more apt to follow legislation, but the Presidents can be more evasive and can give a President more powers. One would have to study for a long time all Orders to see which ones have been benign and which ones have proved consequential and overstepped legal bounds.Often EO’s, like the ones where Obama orders up committees of 20-30 or so people of his choosing, some administrative and many unpaid to keep up with, say ,health issues, or environmental issues, at first seem benign and Congress is not having to order funding for his orders, but two years from now those same committees have become a strongarm of policymaking and suddenly become a funded intity within government to further the president’s agendas.

      • Renee, Obama’s first executive order was to make it more difficult to seal his own records, to require disclosure in more cases, and to require quick response for any records sealed. I don’t have the number of the EO, but here is the text:

        Executive Order — Presidential Records

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, and in order to establish policies and procedures governing the assertion of executive privilege by incumbent and former Presidents in connection with the release of Presidential records by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) pursuant to the Presidential Records Act of 1978, it is hereby ordered as follows:
Section 1. Definitions. For purposes of this order:
        (a) “Archivist” refers to the Archivist of the United States or his designee.
        (b) “NARA” refers to the National Archives and Records Administration.
        (c) “Presidential Records Act” refers to the Presidential Records Act, 44 U.S.C. 2201-2207.
        (d) “NARA regulations” refers to the NARA regulations implementing the Presidential Records Act, 36 C.F.R. Part 1270. …

Continued at link. [edited by Miri; with the link supplied, there’s no reason to copy all text and force readers who aren’t interested in reading this legalese to scroll down, down, down.]

        • We are well aware of the EO that Obama signed in his first few days in office and it certainly wasn’t for transparency of his administration.

President Obama’s Executive Order 13489 that revoked Pres. Bush’s executive order 13233 .

          Click to access E9-1712.pdf

The reason cited for doing so was for transparency and getting a quick response are highly questionable…since Congress is now looking into the delays for FOIA by citizens and the severe redacting of information that they do receive…if they ever get it.

  19. Dream Act by EO and Land Control EO ? This guy sure is mad about those.
    Oh boy….

    http://www.badeagle.com/2011/06/24/remove-obama-before-he-removes-you/

    • Renee, that article is very interesting — but there was no Executive Order issued on June 14. The EO issued on June 13 was wholly unrelated to the “Dream Act” as introduced in Congress, and the EO issued on June 15, was also unrelated.

So, the article’s claims of legislation by EO are false. Can you explain?

Here’s the list of EOs from Obama — can you identify one that your article refers to, perhaps in error?

      http://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/presidential-actions/executive-orders

The Arizona Tea Party, to which that article ultimately points, is calling for the deportation of any U.S. soldier who is not a citizen, and especially those who may have entered the U.S. without documents. This is a shameful request from the Tea Partiers, and it indicates a firm alliance with al Quaeda and Vladimir Putin. Surely that is not what you intended.

      • The Arizona Tea Party, to which that article ultimately points, is calling for the deportation of any U.S. soldier who is not a citizen, and especially those who may have entered the U.S. without documents. This is a shameful request from the Tea Partiers, and it indicates a firm alliance with al Quaeda and Vladimir Putin.

Legal soldiers a shameful request ? Ok. how you went there is interesting however, your idea of shameful and mine are worlds apart obviously so I will leave you with your opinion and keep my own. This is nothing more then distraction. I find much better reading and ideas on my own so if you want someone to point and click with go visit the link to the article. I was just being polite and keeping conversation. EO’s are the last thing I will look into, there is so much MORE, so why would I waste valuable time on games ? By the way Ed, I do not intend anything. It is almost impossible to have a real opinion with all the garbage from all sides. THAT is what this blog was set up for. Looking at everything. If you have problems with that, which is what we INTENDED, then there are other places online for you to PLAY. Nice meeting you and good luck with your adventures.

        • Legal soldiers a shameful request ?

No, the deportation of legal soldiers is a shameful request. There is no requirement that one be a citizen in order to join the U.S. Army, or Navy, or Air Force. For 200 years American immigrants have joined the military to fight for freedom, in the hope, and sometimes in the understanding, that they can get a fast track to citizenship.

Anyone who fights for your freedom deserves your thanks. That crazy Arizona group is calling for those soldiers to be deported instead.

The soldiers are legal from the moment they sign up. Clearly, that group is not on the side of the U.S. Are you?

          • The soldiers are legal from the moment they sign up. Clearly, that group is not on the side of the U.S. Are you?

Sure I am, but I prefer my soldiers legal thank you very much. I like to KNOW where their loyalties are. My own OPINION again. You like to twist things all the time ? Opinion. Should I bring the definition in from wiki for you too ?

          • Opinion From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article is about the general concept.

In general, an opinion is a subjective belief, and is the result of emotion or interpretation of facts. An opinion may be supported by an argument, although people may draw opposing opinions from the same set of facts. Opinions rarely change without new arguments being presented. However, it can be reasoned that one opinion is better supported by the facts than another by analysing the supporting arguments. In casual use, the term opinion may be the result of a person’s perspective, understanding, particular feelings, beliefs, and desires. It may refer to unsubstantiated information, in contrast to knowledge and fact-based beliefs.

          • You’re free to hold that opinion. I find it repugnant. That group in Arizona calls for the deportation of U.S. soldiers who defended freedom in Iraq and Afghanistan. You agree with them, I take it.

Let’s just be clear: You call for the deportation of U.S. soldiers.

Think about how that sounds to a soldier for a while. When you get out of the mode of scrambling to assault every fact I present, you’ll probably think better of that position. For the sake of our nation, we can hope so.

          • You’re free to hold that opinion. I find it repugnant. That group in Arizona calls for the deportation of U.S. soldiers who defended freedom in Iraq and Afghanistan. You agree with them, I take it.

Whoever you are, stop putting words in my mouth. Did I write the words deportation ANYWHERE above ? Did I say that ? No, you did. I said I prefer my soldiers legal. I bet other soldiers do too. Maybe not in earlier years but right now we have a lot of opportunities for the less then loyal in our country. Think Fort Hood for one example. You brought up something else I will note too. Say John illegally crosses the border and then signs up as a soldier to stay in our country. Where are John’s loyalties really ? Would anyone know ? Considering that the first thing John did was illegally enter our country and become a law breaker, I would find that to be an opportunist, not someone that adores America. It is a way to stay here, even though John is clearly a law breaker.
I have no knowledge of the Az. group. How can you agree with something you have no knowledge of ? I wrote a post on a group in Bosnia I think it was that got passports in this way. I found that odd also.

I think of those that have fought for our country in the past. The Irish, Italian, Hispanic, etc…that came here for a new life. They came here the right way, they had their papers stamped, they had their family working like mules for a better chance. They were not working our system for all it had with free medical, free food, free this or that-they were working. They were LEGALLY here. They came here the right way. When you offer someone something in return for their law breaking it becomes a different discussion completely. A discussion I never had with you, whoever you are. You just swoop in like a vulture here and twist words again. I find people that break the law or abuse it to be repugnant. I find you repugnant too. Please go twist words elsewhere, as I find you and your twisting to be nothing more then distraction. I love my country and it’s soldiers as well as the law abiding people that have come here. I respect our military and those that serve in it. Not those that come here with an illegal plan and status. Sorry, but it is my own OPINION again.

Tea Party ? You seem to have major issues with them, so take it up with them. I have no issues with the Tea Party unlike you. I feel they have the right to their OPINIONS too.Yes, those grandparents and parents waving their flags. Yes, those red, white and blue wearing, all American people that respect our laws here. Sitting at parades in their lawn chairs waving OUR flags. You would have issues with that ? I see them as loving our constitution and our laws. I see them as opposite of lawlessness. So there you have that thing called OPINION again, which seems an issue to you. I love people that love us back, those not using us for something they decided they want.

          • Where is your proof that the AZ Tea Party supports deportation of legal soldiers?

          • Another example of my comment above. h/t Miri;

Pat Buchanan wrote a piece about this topic: Say Goodbye to Los Angeles. This is part one. If I remember, when they publish part two, I’ll post it:
            http://townhall.com/columnists/patbuchanan/2011/06/28/say_goodbye_to_los_angeles

“Indeed, were U.S. fans in a Mexican town to boo, jeer and chant obscenities at a Mexican team before, during and after a match, and blow horns during the Mexican national anthem, they would be lucky to get out of the stadium alive.

What does this event, in which Plaschke estimates 80,000 fans in the Rose Bowl could not control their contempt for the U.S. team and for the U.S. national anthem, tell us?

We have within our country 12-20 million illegal aliens, with Mexico the primary source, and millions of others who may be U.S. citizens but are not truly Americans. As one fan told Plaschke, “I was born in Mexico, and that is where my heart will always be.”

Perhaps he should go back there, and let someone take his place who wants to become an American.

By 2050, according to Census figures, thanks to illegals crossing over and legalized mass immigration, the number of Hispanics in the U.S.A. will rise from today’s 50 million to 135 million.

Say goodbye to Los Angeles. Say goodbye to California.”

We should say goodbye to them and cut off all the money extracted without our permission from our wallets in order to give benefits to illegals who care not one whit for THIS country.

        • Applause, applause for that takedown of Ed, Renee. Kiss, kiss. Great rant. Right on point. Methinks he misunderestimated his debate opponents here.

      • I continue to be puzzled by Ed’s claim that the “Arizona Tea Party, to which that article ultimately points, is calling for the deportation of any U.S. soldier who is not a citizen, and especially those who may have entered the U.S. without documents.” Does anyone know where Ed gets such a claim?

Bad Eagle’s post does have a link to the Tea Party site. Here’s the text about this issue, with my comments in brackets and emphasis added:

“On Friday, the Obama administration issued a memo announcing that federal immigration officials do not have to deport illegal aliens if they are enrolled in any type of education program, if their family members have volunteered for U.S. military service, or even if they are pregnant or nursing. [TRUE]

This new policy of “prosecutorial discretion” was quietly announced on Friday afternoon, and completely ignored by the mainstream press. [TRUE; in fact, stories that were once out there are now missing.]

Author of Arizona’s SB1070 and Kansas’ secretary of state, Kris Kobach, told the Daily Caller: ‘They’re pushing the [immigration] agents to be even more lax, to go further in not enforcing the law. At a time when millions of Americans are unemployed and looking for work, this is more bad news coming from the Obama administration… [if the administration] really cared about putting Americans back to work, it would be vigorously enforcing the law.’ [If the administration REALLY cared about the law and respected the separation of powers, it WOULD BE ENFORCING ALL LAWS AS WRITTEN.]

Late last year, the so-called DREAM Act which would give legal residency status to millions of illegal aliens who attend college or join the military was defeated in the Senate. [TRUE]

Every major poll has shown that the American people are overwhelmingly opposed to the DREAM Act as well as to any other form of amnesty. [TRUE]

However, with Obama’s poll numbers plummeting, this use of his executive powers is seen as an obvious ploy to solidify the Latino vote in the 2012 presidential election.” [TRUE]

ALL TRUE, but where is ANY call to deport “legal soldiers?” NOWHERE. This is how the dishonest “debate.” Mischaracterize, smear, lie.

        • “On Friday, the Obama administration issued a memo announcing that federal immigration officials do not have to deport illegal aliens if they are enrolled in any type of education program, if their family members have volunteered for U.S. military service, or even if they are pregnant or nursing. [TRUE]

It’s only a smear if we assume, as you appear to, that the solder herself is not a a member of her family and not subject to deportation. Your assumption would be contrary to ICE rules. That assumption on your part does not change the facts, and does not make my pointing out the nefarious end result of your favored policy, “a smear.”

Do you really think that just deporting the families of our soldiers would have no effect on morale, or their ability to secure freedom?

Obama did the right thing in telling ICE to concentrate on getting criminals, and leave soldiers and their families, and hard-working, degree-seeking students, and other law-abiders, alone. Those who claim contrary are no friends of any American, nor of America.

          • Ed, you must subscribe to the Bill Clinton rule of language. It all depends upon what the meaning of is is. What person would refer to himself or herself as one of his/her own “family members?” Nobody. It’s a clear sentence: “do not have to deport illegal aliens … if their family members have volunteered for U.S. military service.”

THEIR family members. The “their” is the illegal alien. Any family member who may or may not have volunteered for U.S. military service is not the person who’s being discussed with regard to deportation. That volunteer may or may not be an illegal alien. That’s not the person ICE is talking about deporting. It’s the known illegal alien who might have a family member who volunteered for the U.S. military. IF it were the illegal alien himself or herself, it would read, “do not have to deport illegal aliens if they have volunteered for U.S. military service.”

I have to remember to add to my daily prayers thanks to the Lord that I was blessed with the great teachers I had in elementary school, high school, and at university.

Ed, why would a volunteer in the military be subject, under ICE rules, to deportation when you’ve already told us that such a soldier IS a legal soldier? You make no sense.

Who is talking about “smears”? YOU! Where, please tell me, did I EVER state that it’s my “favored policy” to deport U.S. soldiers? I didn’t.

You are truly arrogant when you try to equate being a friend of America or Americans with supporting Obama’s policies and/or YOUR preferred policies.

    • Renee, here is the EO establishing the White House Rural Council — please read it. There is nothing at all in it about land control. Let me repeat that — there is nothing at all in that EO about land control.

Why would those groups tell such fantastic, inaccurate tales about Obama, and about land control? If they can’t get their facts right on something so easy to check, should we trust them as sources on anything? (Nor did President Clinton “seize” the National Parks. National Parks have been under the jurisdiction of the federal government since their inception, in the Lincoln administration. National Parks rarely, if ever, acquire land that is not already public; when the parks acquire non-public lands, it is through sale or gift — I am unaware of any use even of eminent domain in those cases, let alone “seizure.”)

May I repeat my question? What Executive Orders from Obama pose problems — and please, don’t send made up stuff.

      • well just a quick check to find something to show you sort of how it works. The UN does have much influence on any national monument ,park, historic site , from the Taj Mahal to our dinky small coastal parks. Just cruise around any National park Website and you’ll find the UN or Unesco symbols. And they do coerce and help control what goes on with them.

The website Renee posted is at least spot on about losing land and control of it. Whether an EO exists recently, I don’t remember one, but some of the last ones I didn’t read in their entirety. Not only are we influenced and moved to do the UN’s bidding though, the government often gives grants to non profits that are buying up huge swaths of land whether for the sake of ecosystem protection, marine science and geo studies and these groups partner with the UN. so more and more the general public can only access state or federal properties under UN controlled conditions.

I’ve witnessed it. And almost all state properties are now federally funded properties so they fall under just about as many sanctions of the UN’s. Here’s just a quick sample and you can see that in the 1970’s, which is when sustainable living and the like was first introduced. I remember when counties had sustainable living centers(many still separately exist)which were funded by the fed.

        • I am sorry but I don’t write very well is this new reply box. Here’s a site . read down alittle and you find what I was saying.
          http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread45831/pg1

        • The UN does have much influence on any national monument ,park, historic site , from the Taj Mahal to our dinky small coastal parks.

The United Nations has zero say on the designation or operation of any U.S. National Monument. The UN has zero say on the designation or operation of any National Park, or any other component of the National Parks System. The United Nations has zero say on the designation of any state or local park.

That is by law in the U.S., and under the UN Charter. You claim the UN has some influence? Please offer some evidence.

Check the management plan for any component of the NP System, you’ll find zero influence from the UN. We write those plans in the local offices of the unit, after public hearings in which stakeholders get a fair say. By law, those plans must reflect the views of U.S. citizens — and in many cases, U.S. citizens have sued to change those plans when they didn’t think they got a fair say. The National Park Service bends over backwards to accommodate stakeholders in the Parks — citizens, inholders, neighboring communities, the states in which they are located, landholders next door, landholders and residents in the larger ecosystem when appropriate — but there is no provision for the UN to have any say in the management of any land in the U.S. (other than UN headquarters, and even then they have to get permission of the City of New York and the U.S. Government).

The UN confers “heritage” status on lands that have great historic or scientific value, but under the UN Charter that status may not interfere in any way with local land management, nor is there any money appropriated (nor can there be) to do anything with regard to management of the land.

I’ve been deeply involved in these issues for several years, officially and unofficially. I can tell you that no UN functionary has ever showed up for a hearing in any town at any time, and I’ve been to dozens of these things.

Moreover, while I don’t doubt that some of the prized lands we treasure as components of the U.S. National Parks System have earned recognition under the UN’s heritage lands program, it is untrue that the UN log appears at most NPS websites, or any website that I have found in a half-hour of searching. I ask you please to offer the URLs for any such logo’s appearance. And if you find such a logo, can you offer any indication, from that website, or from any other source, that the UN has anything to do with the management of the lands? On this issue I’m from Missouri — from the Truman Library and Museum — show me.

Plus, there is no Obama Executive Order which changes that arrangement in any form.

Our National Parks belong to us, to you and to me. The UN is prohibited by treaty and by its own rules from owning land. There is no reason we would offer National Parks as collateral to the UN. That’s complete hooey.

          • Sorry Ed, but you are wrong, absolutely. Go yourself to a national park website and you’ll most likely find the UN symbols. While we did oust some Unesco clutches we have wholeheartedly joined and partnered with the UN and their Biospshere, Sustainability ,and world land management sanctions. Evidently you didn’t even bother glancing at the website I posted. Now granted that was sort of lame, but then I am way past worrying if you believe it or not. Did you even know that under executive authority a President can add a U.S. site to the UN’s list. It does not usually go thru Senate. However in 1999 and I think again in 2001 H.R. 883 did not pass the Senate. Sponsors of the Bill expressed concern that adding a U.S. site to the UN’s list of sites might not protect private propertiy owners. There has been other legislation concerning it both ways. you never anwered my question if you ran a government funded website. I thought you did Ed. Ed, you can find information from as far back as the 70’s and see the UN’s authority all over it . It ain’t hard to find. Find it yourself. You sound sort a smart till you get to this. My neighbors both leave everyyear to go to work for the summer at a huge National Park. They know. You just don’t.

          • Sorry Ed, but you are wrong, absolutely. Go yourself to a national park website and you’ll most likely find the UN symbols.

So, I’ll find the UN logos, but you can’t tell me where. I don’t find them, you claim I’m wrong. I ask you to give us URLs, you can’t. And I’m supposed to give you credence there?

The more serious question is this: Just what actions do you claim the UN has taken with respect to management of any piece of land in the U.S.? Got any documentation?

Frankly, from a legal standpoint, the designation of a building as an Historic Building by the National Trust for Historic Preservation has actual legal effect — owners need to inform the National Trust when they plan to tear down the building — and that is much more powerful than designation by the UN, which carries no legal effect, no appropriations, and by U.S. law and the UN Charter, can carry no legal effect.

So, if there is a logo of the UN at any website, it’s an indication that the land is special. Here in the U.S., we love our National Parks, and we know that — and we take that designation as a point of pride, sort of like the Seal of Approval of the American Dental Association on a tube of toothpaste. Same legal effect, you know — zilch.

But then, you may think toothpaste is a UN conspiracy, too.

Got information? I’d sure like to see some.

          • I’ve been to many of those meetings where citizens supposedly give input, too. You know what happens in too many cases? It’s Kabuki theater. They give lip service to obtaining public input. They allow a number of chosen people to speak, often for a limited time, and then they ignore what the majority of the people said and go ahead and do what they planned to do all along. The community input phase exists simply to make people BELIEVE they had a say in the process and the result they see is from consensus. It’s not. It’s make-believe consensus.

      • Wow. I read this first. It sounds good, a lot of lawmakers looking over our land for us. This looks good.
        Snip~
By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America and in order to enhance Federal engagement with rural communities, it is hereby ordered as follows:

Section 1. Policy. Sixteen percent of the American population lives in rural counties. Strong, sustainable rural communities are essential to winning the future and ensuring American competitiveness in the years ahead. These communities supply our food, fiber, and energy, safeguard our natural resources, and are essential in the development of science and innovation. Though rural communities face numerous challenges, they also present enormous economic potential. The Federal Government has an important role to play in order to expand access to the capital necessary for economic growth, promote innovation, improve access to health care and education, and expand outdoor recreational activities on public lands.

To enhance the Federal Government’s efforts to address the needs of rural America, this order establishes a council to better coordinate Federal programs and maximize the impact of Federal investment to promote economic prosperity and quality of life in our rural communities.

Sec. 2. Establishment. There is established a White House Rural Council.

Sec. 3. Membership. (a) The Secretary of Agriculture shall serve as the Chair of the Council, which shall also include the heads of the following executive branch departments, agencies, and offices:
        (1) the Department of the Treasury;
        (2) the Department of Defense;

        (15) the Federal Communications Commission;
        (16) the Office of Management and Budget;
        (17) the Office of Science and Technology Policy;
        (18) the Office of National Drug Control Policy;
        (19) the Council of Economic Advisers;
        (20) the Domestic Policy Council;
        (21) the National Economic Council;
        (22) the Small Business Administration;
        (23) the Council on Environmental Quality;
        (24) the White House Office of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs;
        (25) the White House Office of Cabinet Affairs; and such other executive branch departments, agencies, and offices as the President or the Secretary of Agriculture may, from time to time, designate.
        (b) A member of the Council may designate, to perform the Council functions of the member, a senior-level official who is part of the member’s department, agency, or office, and who is a full-time officer or employee of the Federal Government.
        (c) The Department of Agriculture shall provide funding and administrative support for the Council to the extent permitted by law and within existing appropriations.

          • Oh yeah, Renee, have you ever heard of the good steward or farm stewardship program? I don’t know that much about it but My friends have huge tracks of farmland and they get a tax break if they become partners through the county in this good steward program. They have to of course meet lots of criterea and plan not to use it except for certain purposes. They are proud of there farm and they see nothing harmful about it. They are just tickled they get the very discriminating tax break. I warned them ,but hey ,they consider themselves good stewards of their property and they are proud of their very self sustaining piece of farmland. This program has all the signs and bells and whistles of a UN inspired project.

    • Renee, thanks for that link. I’d never seen Bad Eagle’s blog before. Interesting guy. Have to find time to read his other posts.

It seems people are confusing memoranda with executive orders (if there is a difference). This is the item they apparently refer to with regard to immigration non-enforcement. http://www.ice.gov/doclib/secure-communities/pdf/prosecutorial-discretion-memo.pdf
Can you imagine? A law enforcement agency that sets “priorities” concerning the law. I didn’t think, when Congress passed laws, they imagined that those charged with carrying out the LAW (who are sworn to uphold it) would pick and choose which provisions to enforce and would “prioritize” via “discretionary enforcement decisions.”

This memorandum is especially galling because it flies in the face of Congress, which did NOT pass the so-called “Dream Act”. Whatever you want to call it, it’s an executive fiat that gives permission to do an end run around Congress and the express wishes of the American people. To top it off, they blame their actions on scarce resources (brought about, of course, by the Obama-caused economic crisis). Notice that if the agency is going to use “executive discretion” in a particular case, they’re advised to do it at the earliest possible stage. My guess is this means: Don’t even apprehend. If you find a “student”, just ignore the student. Don’t even bring the student into the system. That way, NOBODY knows that “students” are being let go. There’s a reason. Politicization of ICE. Pure and simple.

      • Miri,

You missed it when you checked in..I did a new post on the lawless immigration policy,

        • Yeah. Sorry. I did miss it. I came right here to this post before I checked the front page and I haven’t been to the front page until just a while ago. Good post. I recommend it to all of our readers, especially Ed. 🙂

    • What a cool dude! Dr. David Yeagley. Read his bio: http://www.badeagle.com/about-david-yeagley/

Papoose: Do you know of him? A kindred spirit and First Nation kin. Two masters degrees and a doctorate! The “sole voice of conservative thought among American Indian intellectuals.” Thanks, again, Renee. Love this guy.

      • As I recall, the Comanche’s got lots of money from the Stimulus bill, and other related bills. I think they also got a grant from the DOJ. So it is interesting that he is so anti-Obama. Yet his eyes are wide open.

One of the articles he wrote said the dems were trying to equate the black man with the Native American Indians, and they weren’t falling for it. Yet the Native American Crows can now claim Obama as one of their own. Does that now make him red, white and Arab err black?.

  20. Sure, AOne — just as soon as you tell us your law school, graduation date, and bar affiliations.

My life is very much a public record, and it affects the accuracy of my statements not one whit. Nor does it change the fact that the president of the U.S. may not order a news blackout, especially on nuclear power plant safety issues. My law school doesn’t change the fact that these false claims on the Nebraska nuclear plants are made first by a Pakistani outlet — any reason for bias there? — based on a report it claims came from the Russian atomic energy regulatory agency (any reason for bias there?) that neither you nor anyone else has corroborated as actually existing, let alone accurate.

Come on over to Millard Fillmore’s Bathtub (you should be able to get there clicking on my name at the top of this post), snoop all you want.

    • Unfortunately, since Obama usurped the oval office, we are now trained to question every single thing that is done by this administration. Since the NEWS BLACKOUT ON HIS ELIGIBILITY started it, we do continue to question and analyze what they do. Their values do not coincide with ours, since we like our country the way it was before this Marxist regime decided they wanted to transform it into another third world country through whatever ideology they are now following. The debauchery and criminality of the Left is in full view as they have come out of the closet. You are apparently still trying to defend the indefensible and our readers aren’t buyin’!

Also thinking of blackouts..if information is scrubbed from the internet..would that be considered a blackout? If Obama’s administration wanted to shut up the conservative information flow via a Net Neutrality law..would that be considered a blackout? If the Left continually attacks FOX, or Rush because of their news broadcasting…do they want a blackout? I guess it all comes down to what a blackout really means..and usually it means they want to cover their criminal asses as they do not want any accountability for their actions . Propaganda is in full swing from the leftists media outlets and all of the Soros paid journOlist members or cabalists.

The above article quoted information ..it never said anything was written in stone. I think saying that information coming from Russia or Pakistan would be highly questionable is quite accurate.

      • Yep, all those scrubbed sites and bits of REAL information just went poof….thousands of them. Not scrubbing or BLACKOUTS, just accidents…INTENDED accidents ?….much better reading on that subject Bridgette….found them over and over for 3 years…those accidents….so many still hidden though in Google Cache…..we found some of them…others did too….those pesky accidents…

    • excuse me Ed, but do you run a government website? It was something in your language of one of your posts.

      • No, I run no government website.

My office was responsible for the creation of the first U.S. Department of Education “bulletin board” and list-serv, in the days before blogs, and in the days before web pages. I am employed by a local school district. My views do not necessarily reflect the views of my employer nor any of my past employers in the Congressional or Executive branch, nor in any private enterprise — though, were they wise, they would let their views follow mine.

        • We don’t need no education
We don’t need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
          Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it’s just another brick in the wall.
All in all you’re just another brick in the wall.

    • I believe there’s a big difference here, Ed. AOne speaks. AOne doesn’t brag about credentials, real or imagined. We take AOne for what AOne says. And what AOne does, which is a lot of tremendous research and analysis. But when people come here touting creds, then it’s fair, imho, for the readers to ask for evidence.

As for the alleged news blackout, back to the top. Bridgette wrote the disclaimer right there in the original post. Do you really think we don’t take what the Russians and Pakistanis say with a grain of salt (unlike CNN, which seems to love Al Jazeera)? The sad thing is that now, with this administration, we have to EQUALLY DOUBT the missives from our own government AND we know we can’t trust the “mainstream” media. They LIE. They lie. They obfuscate. They bury. They ignore. They rationalize. They no longer act as a counterbalance to an over-ambitious administration. With this administration, they are little more than a propaganda arm OF the administration. How else do you explain the Journolist? Remember those Obama Truth Squads? That was BEFORE the election! You want us to believe that Obama can’t order a “blackout” (by any means necessary, such as private meetings with heads of networks) but somehow, during the campaign, he could community organize troops of sheriffs and local prosecutors to intimidate media and outspoken people into NOT SPEAKING, specifically into not ever saying Obama’s a Muslim or he’s not a citizen (which, btw, for the gazillionth time, was NOT the issue. He’s a citizen; he’s NOT a natural born citizen.)

  21. Speaking of Obama’s records releases, from the White House:

    The White House Blog
    Nearly 1.4 Million Records

Posted by Kori Schulman on June 24, 2011 at 02:59 PM EDT

In September 2009, the President announced that – for the first time in history – the White House would routinely release visitor records. Today, the White House releases visitor records that were generated in March 2011. Today’s release also includes several visitor records generated prior to September 16, 2009 that were requested by members of the public in May 2011 pursuant to the White House voluntary disclosure policy. This release brings the grand total of records that this White House has released to nearly 1.4 million records. You can view them all in our Disclosures section./blockquote>

    • Gosh, we are going back in history for these …I am sure there was no reason for the WH to hold back their visitor logs ..that is why the media was making a big deal out of those visitor lists..I think I remember that Bill Ayers or William Ayers was someone they said had the same name according to the transparent WH. I believe it was Breitbart writers that were examining and questioning those so called WH Visitor Logs.

      • Remember what they do now, Bridgette? They meet in coffee houses near the WH so they don’t have to log the asshats in or disclose their meetings with them. And they use those Blackberries so there are no records TO release. ROFLMAO. Too precious for words. So naive.

  22. Excellent article and information.

The Purposeful Flooding of America’s Heartland
    June 22, 2011 Snips

Some sixty years ago, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) began the process of taming the Missouri by constructing a series of six dams. The idea was simple: massive dams at the top moderating flow to the smaller dams below, generating electricity while providing desperately needed control of the river’s devastating floods.

But after about thirty years of operation, as the environmentalist movement gained strength throughout the seventies and eighties, the Corps received a great deal of pressure to include some specific environmental concerns into their MWCM (Master Water Control Manual, the “bible” for the operation of the dam system).

Things turned absurd from there. An idea to restore the nation’s rivers to a natural (pre-dam) state swept through the environmental movement and their allies.

The Corps began to utilize the dam system to mimic the previous flow cycles of the original river, holding back large amounts of water upstream during the winter and early spring in order to release them rapidly as a “spring pulse.” The water flows would then be restricted to facilitate a summer drawdown of stream levels. This new policy was highly disruptive to barge traffic and caused frequent localized flooding, but a multi-year drought masked the full impact of the dangerous risks the Corps was taking.

This year, despite more than double the usual amount of mountain and high plains snowpack (and the ever-present risk of strong spring storms), the true believers in the Corps have persisted in following the revised MWCM, recklessly endangering millions of residents downstream.

At the time of this writing, the Corps is scrambling for political cover, repeatedly denying that it had any advance warning of the potential for this catastrophe. The official word is that everything was just fine until unexpectedly heavy spring rains pushed the system past the tipping point.

    • Rats! You beat me to the punch. Was going to post this, too. It’s a great article with much food for thought.

  23. As water ebbs in Minot, thoughts of recovery
June 26 1 hr 19 mins ago AP Snips

MINOT, N.D. – The Souris River began a long, slow retreat in Minot on Sunday, leaving behind an arduous rebuilding job for more than 4,000 homeowners and hundreds of business operators, most of whom lack insurance to pay for it. Because they don’t have coverage, federal assistance could amount to as little as a few thousand dollars apiece. Loan and grant programs will provide some help, as will an emergency relief fund just being set up.

Still, there was at least one ray of hope: State lawmakers might be able to lend a hand, thanks in large part to North Dakota’s oil boom, which generates $1 billion a year in tax money and has helped shield the state from the worst of the recession.

Few people in Minot carried flood insurance ….”we were not in a floodplain anymore” after a 1969 flood led to construction of levees and straightening of the river channel.

    • More people dependent upon the government or grateful to the “government” when in reality their gratitude should go towards the people whose pockets are picked in order to allow Obama to make dependent ever more and more “folks”. My gosh. I read articles in the WSJ about Hugo Chavez and it’s like reading the story of Barry O. So many parallels. Have we even discussed Hugo’s mysterious ailment? Operated on in Cuba. Abdominal abscess. Curious, huh?

  24. Floodwaters surround nuke plant after breach
    June 26, 6:03 pm ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A tear on Sunday in a temporary berm allowed Missouri River flood waters to surround containment buildings and other vital areas of a Nebraska nuclear plant, but reactor systems were not affected. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) said the breach in the 2,000-foot inflatable berm around the Fort Calhoun station occurred around 1:25 a.m. local time.

More than 2 feet of water rushed in around containment buildings and electrical transformers at the 478-megawatt facility located 20 miles north of Omaha. Reactor shutdown cooling and spent-fuel pool cooling were unaffected, the NRC said. The plant, operated by the Omaha Public Power District, has been off line since April for refueling.

Crews activated emergency diesel generators after the breach, but restored normal electrical power by Sunday afternoon, the NRC said. Buildings at the Fort Calhoun plant are watertight, the agency said. It noted that the cause of the berm breach is under investigation.

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20110626/ts_nm/us_usa_nuclear_plant;_ylt

    • Crazy! Is this a different levee or berm than the one that broke the other day and made the water go down? I suspected that was a convenient breach, which might have taken pressure off the plant without them having to blow the levee themselves, thus admitting that they screwed up, big time. Now there’s suspicion that the berm was breached to endanger the plant again?

btw, this is barely mentioned on the TV nightly news, if at all. Do you notice? Maybe a self-imposed blackout to favor the chosen one. With the Japanese nuclear disaster fresh in everyone’s mind, it SHOULD be the kind of story they hype, hype, hype. As a matter of fact, if they did hype it, they’d get viewers. If they were the sheer capitalists that Ed suggests, then they would hype it, but they don’t. Why don’t they? Hmmmm? Because it doesn’t help make Barry and his lame administration look good. That’s why. 99.99% of lamestream media personages are liberal. That’s why. That’s diversity for you.

      • I’ll answer my own question. The berm was inflatable, so it isn’t the one that accidentally (?) ruptured, relieving pressure on the nuke plant. But then somehow the inflatable berm got a slice in it and voila! Back to worry about that plant. The thing is, if there’s no blackout, there’s still some weird stuff going on. Links aren’t working. Or the browser crashes when I click on links to find more information about this issue. Bridgette: That Yahoo! link is broken, too. I found other versions of the story, but when I clicked them, poof! Browser crash. Almost as if somebody doesn’t want people reading and learning.

  25. http://michellemalkin.com/2010/08/20/and-now-the-stealth-obama-ocean-grab/

That’s a great article by Michelle Malkin about the stealth attempt to institute the “Oceans 21” bill, which Congress won’t pass, by fiat. She mentions other such overreaches by the Obama administration–rule by executive order (or memorandum). Whatever. A memo by any other name would still smell of mendacity. Which reminds me that I asked Ed many questions which he just skims right on over, to focus on distractions. You called it, Renee. And I’m done with this homework assignment. As AOne said in so many words, if you want to know, read the whole blog. 🙂

    • I remember researching the information about the lakes, rivers and streams coming under the government control…but not the Oceans. I thought this occurred last year and was defeated. Yet the name Oceans 21 doesn’t ring a bell. Will have to check.

  26. There are also memos for the NLRB. End run around lack of card check legislation. More payback for the unions. Who are angry at Barry. So much about this topic that I don’t think we’ve discussed. Will try to dig it all back up and post it this week.

  27. You’re a topic of discussion, you know.

    • So are you, Ed. We don’t care. Whatever. We’ve got your number and it’s ZERO.

Hey, Teacher, leave them kids alone.

    • Gosh Ed, we sure would like to send our readers to your blog..but it is unfortunate that you won’t be capturing our readers with your leftist twists on facts. Therefore, I am removing your blog citation. You are welcome to blog here, but not use our blog to get readers at yours. Ain’t gonna happen.

      • Thanks, B. I was inclined to ban him altogether, since he persists in distorting, attacking us personally, insulting our intelligence, and twisting our words.

        • Miri, attack and insult seems to be progressive Ed’s m/o. Just google Al Gore – Ed Darrell, for one. You are SO busted ED, flake off progressive rodent.

          • Yep, Leza. SO BUSTED. Climate change. LOL.

Of course the climate changes. It’s been doing so for lo these BILLIONS OF YEARS. If climate doesn’t change, where’d those two miles of ice sitting on top of Michigan go since about 10,000 years ago? (btw, WELL prior to the invention of the SUV.) If MAN causes “global warming”, now known as “climate change”, then why is Mars also warming?

            No, it’s not.

            Yes, it is.

            Nevermind.

      • Dang..Meet the OBOT, Ed! Holy cow, he lives in my neighborhood if that is true! He is from Dallas! This history teacher works in the Dallas Independent School District. Yet, he looks so normal.

If Ed is still teaching at Molina High School…these are his students. Very telling.

The attendance rate for students at the school is 92%, in contrast to a state average of 96%. 80% of the students at Molina are economically disadvantaged, 7% are enrolled in special education, 9% are enrolled in gifted and talented programs, and 22% are considered to be “limited English proficient.”

The ethnic makeup of the school is 89% Hispanic American, 9% African American, 1% White, non-Hispanic, 1% Asian/Pacific Islander American, and less than 1% American Indian/Alaskan Native.

        • Nice shot of me — thanks for using it. I’m fond of that photo for a couple of reasons beyond its soft focus. One can’t tell, but I’m seated in front of Lincoln’s cabin, or the reproduction of it, in the Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, Illinois. As a purveyor of history, that museum does great stuff. I hope you’ll make the detour to Springfield and spend a couple of days in the exhibits there, and others around Springfield.

And the photo was taken by our older son, Kenny.

Yeah, I work with students who are majority minority — they are, as all children of that age are, the future of our nation. It’s a task I gather you would find distasteful? Why bother to comment on the racial makeup if it didn’t bother you? In any case, those kids are smart cookies, if lazier than my generation (aren’t they all? I know my teachers regarded our generation as lazy . . . as did Aristotle’s teachers regard him, and he those he taught). Their parents or grandparents are immigrants, often. Still, with that makeup in the students in the classes, their families have often been in this land longer than mine. I’m only third generation on my father’s side. My grandparents and great, great grandparents came to this nation in the same condition and for the same reasons the ancestors of my students did. It’s a joy, often, to teach U.S. history to kids who opportunities, and who have a genuine desire to learn the facts.

My classes had attendance of 98%, by the way — higher than my old schools in Utah. Molina High leads Dallas district for general education high schools in achievement on state tests. We get beaten only by a couple of the magnet schools — you may have read about them recently in Newsweek.

In short, I teach some of the best students in the nation, though they have been regularly suppressed in their drive to achieve.

So I feel a strong obligation to getting history right, to getting the facts right, to avoid being snookered by voodoo history, bogus history, and simple error. We owe it to the memory of Lincoln, and more, we owe it to those students.

I hope you’ll see the wisdom in striving for accuracy.

          • Ed, one reason it might be pertinent to examine the make-up of the school where you teach is so that people understand better where you’re coming from. A person’s environment often informs his or her opinion. Don’t you think? Why do you assume Bridgette finds the make-up “distasteful” AS IF that’s the only reason she could possibly have for mentioning it. Why does the government compile the stats in the first place? Because they’re distasteful?

Why are your kids “regularly suppressed in their drive to achieve?” What a curious thing to say. Suppressed? By whom? Parents? Teachers?

We always strive for accuracy. Do you? We already recognize the wisdom of striving for accuracy, as regular readers of our blog know. You don’t need to hope that we do. We do and have always done.

We hope that you see the wisdom not only of being accurate but also of not insulting your hosts.

          • Miri, it is a teaching theology method known in the teaching workshops at Theater of the Opressed. Large teacher workshops for social justice and CHANGE, a major theme in their teaching methods. Sounds like Ed has been to some. In their own words, they say “Saul Alinksy would be proud of us”. I have the original teacher’s workshop summit in Rio de Janeiro from the 70’s and they go on in Universities and other various places around the country, today, like University of Texas and so on.

    • As to Ed’s viewpoint, where he shows his true commie colors. And Ed, if you aren’t one, then why are you protecting the Marxists, commies, and Islamic terrorists that are now in line and associate themselves with the Democratic Party? Can’t say that you didn’t know that…since they had that huge rally after Beck’s where they were all waving their SEIU flags, union flags, communist flags and socialists flags, etc…with sign-up tables to boot! Didn’t you figure out yet that your once Democrat party was hijacked?

Just for everyone’s education about Ed’s thinking or should I say his inability to reason logically. From his Leftist website. He must be in bed with Dr. Con. With so much evidence to the contrary…he keeps up the Obama charade for his readers. Who knows what garbage he feeds his vulnerable students.

Ed Darrell says: October 24, 2010 at 6:50 pm
[Question] Why is Obama challenging the request to see his birth certificate?
[Ed’s Answer] Who lied to you about that? Will you let that person keep you in the dark about other things?
Obama posted his birth certificate, on-line, in June 2008. Why do you refuse to honor Hawaiian and U.S. law, and honor a duly-issued, sealed-by-the-State-of-Hawaii document?

      • I’m still waiting for Ed to answer whether or not his reporterly and lawyerly instincts detect that whiff of mendacity when this least transparent POTUS in history continues to HIDE his credentials, even after he claims that he released them. Polls don’t lie. Barry is in deep trouble. We the People recognize a charlatan when we see one.

  28. From Ed’s blog diatribe…where he says things that weren’t even mentioned, but is apparently referring to WTPOTUS. Talk about protecting the One..the USURPER!

Second, and probably third: There is the minor kerfuffle of the hoax report out of Pakistan that nuclear power plants in Nebraska are either near meltdown, or already melted down, and you don’t know about it because President Obama ordered a news blackout to avoid panic but at the same time condemning hundreds of thousands of Midwesterners to radiation poisoning deaths. It’s an absurd story on several fronts and several levels — news of the flood plight of the power plants has been reported around the world, for example — but those bent on being suckered by every conspiracy claim to come down the pike, or bent on criticizing President Obama no matter how much they must twist the fact to do it, cannot be dissuaded.

Take for example this odd blog: A discussion of the imagined meltdown quickly disintegrates into defense of holding on to birther views despite Obama’s release of his “long form” birth certificate (no good information goes un-urinated upon). [CLASSY, Ed!] Then discussion veers off into all sorts of paranoia — UN “control” of U.S. lands, occupation of several states by rogue Transportation Security Agents (you didn’t hear about it due to the news blackout, most likely), Obama’s being controlled by or controlling GE (‘didn’t GE have something to do with the design of those nuclear reactors?’), Army Corps of Engineers plots to flood the Midwest (????), Obama’s overturning the Constitution through the use of executive orders (which no one there can find at the moment, but they’re sure they exist, somewhere . . . gee, did we misplace it?) including a wholly imaginary order to take over all rural lands in the U.S. (why?), and complaints that the U.S. is not deporting U.S. soldiers or their families quickly enough.

Such a ball of delusional paranoia and errors of history, law, and other facts! One might imagine these people so involved in tracking down misinformation and distorting real information that they forget to kick their dogs. (Seriously, I’d tend to think these people could be helped by having a dog or a cat, except for the very real fear I have they’d forget to feed the creatures; like a drowning person, fighting all efforts to save them.)

    • A PRIME EXAMPLE of a PROGRESSIVE WHO is teaching someone’s children how to adhere to the party’s ideological line..whatever that may be right now! May you, Ed, be kicked to the proverbial curb. Hopefully, some student’s parents will see what you are teaching and bring your “scholarly” ass in front of an educational review board that isn’t unionized. You are a great example of how the NEA works. To bad you aren’t in New Jersey.

      • I get visited by the local and state authorities several times a year — checking for accuracy, that we stick to the state standards, etc. I’m happy to report, state standard-wise, I had a 100% pass rate for my kids in U.S. history. It’s an odd calculation required by our Republican overlords in Texas — not all the special education kids count in the pass rate — but about half my special ed kids got “commended” on the test.

I’m teaching the facts of U.S. history, and how to find them and keep them accurate, every day.

Most of the comments on this board wouldn’t muster in Texas. Mind you, Texas is a Republican state, and those standards are quite conservative. But your comments don’t measure up.

I tell students early in the year that I can’t push them through the test, that they must learn the facts. Same here: All I can do is show you the facts. You have to learn them yourself.

Prime example of a progressive? As a leader in the conservative movement in the West, as a Reagan administration appointee, I’d hope so.

What sort of limbo does that leave you in?

        • YOU had a 100% pass rate? I think that’s the kids’ accomplishment.

We’re glad to hear that you’re teaching history FACTS.

Our comments, Ed, are comments. Opinions. Speculation. When they’re facts, we say so. When they’re possibly biased, bogus, bloviating, we say that, too, as with Bridgette’s clear disclaimer at the top of the post. Throwing a topic out for discussion isn’t “history”, nor do we comment in order to be graded by you, as I said before.

You haven’t shown us facts. You’ve disputed facts that we’ve shown you. And you’ve personally attacked and ridiculed us, here in our house and on your own blog.

What makes you think that because you claim that Reagan appointed you to something or other, that somehow leaves us in limbo? The universe doesn’t revolve around you, Ed. People don’t exist to be judged by you.

I have to wonder whether or not Ed’s history includes such topics as Aztlan and the supposed righteousness of the Reconquista.

        • As much as I hate to do it I’m going to apologize to Ed now that I see he’s wondered out of his pasture again. Ed , on the issue of UN logos on some of the state and national parks websites, I can’t find them anymore. So Ed, for now you are right. But Ed, I wouldn’t have said that unless I thought I could show you. First thing I did was go back to Cape Hattaras National seashore and Cape Hattaras Light House’s website, also it’s where Kitty Hawk and THe Orville Wilbur Wright memorial is because that’s where I first saw this phenomena. The UN emblem was on the top left of the site. I spoke about it to friends and showed it to my husband. Well now the department of the interior’s emblem is on the right and no UN symbol anymore. I looked and looked for info showing maybe a reason the emblems were removed and could find nothing either. So you now are right, but I did not make this up. I did find some blogs and sites where people were talking and asked this same question as they had seen these logos and emblems also on Park websites. My family and I have been going to the Cape hattaras light house and seashore since the 70’s and I have checked their site for most the years they have existed, checking on different aspects of that area. They are a UN biosphere area and global heretiage site. UN policies along with Audabon society have just about ruined the livlihoods of all the people living their. We have friends that have lived there for years and have businesses there. UN’s funded infuence is ruining their lives. Till I get to the bottom of why the logos are no longer there you are correct in saying they aren’t there, but they were there. There are States that have passed resolutions as UN Free Zones vowing no logo of any kind may be present in their cities , which would seem to imply that their logos may have been more prevalent till some people complained of their influence. I don’t know really.

          • also Ed, I have a feeling that there are a few folks from Texas that blog here that do just fine in the muster department. I am not sure what you mean we or they don’t measure up. Measure to what standard? Yours so far would not be something I measure anything by.We are not your students. While I am here to learn, I find this blog to be satisfactory and I can discern for myself what I need. I can extrapolate just fine. While everywhere on the entire internet no one can be certain of complete truths anymore, but many have waded into the quadmire. While I am here intended respect is needed,at least enough to keep it pleasant. And when things aren’t to my measuring standards , I just go do something else.

    • Funny comment. My dog and cat say someone is full of it.
I do not remember us commenting that that plant was in meltdown do you all ? Funny spin again…
What spin, what twisting. Truly amazing. A legend in his own mind. Just who asked for another one of those ?

      • Renee, did you happen to see what might be a form of a meltdown? Los Alamos. http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/2011/0630/Los-Alamos-fire-could-become-the-largest-in-New-Mexico-history

Been keeping up on that wildfire that threatens to burn radioactive stuff making radioactive wind? Nice, huh? Is this the fire someone said illegal immigrants caused? (Just kidding, Ed. I know the person was talking out of his wazoo. But what DID cause that fire?) Isn’t this the second time Los Alamos has been threatened by fire?

Of course, this is probably caused by climate change. Don’t you think? Oh, wait. They do say that in the headline. What tripe! I can believe suppression of the natural cycle of burning. But climate change? Please. These fires have been around for millenia. They’re important for plant diversity, btw.

        • for the last several weeks we have had two, actually three separate large forrest fires near us, sort of contained. The large and small ashes, the damp stinch , and pure burning smell has left many coughing and waking up with head aches and such. Depending on the wind or lack of wind , sometimes it looks like hazy California smog, with an orange pinkish glowing ball for the sun. I think both fires were started by lightning. One fire is really the smoldering and burning of a peat bog that stretches for miles. This is a natural phenomenon and is actually very healthy, as long as it can be monitored. The other fire has burned many hundreds of acres of forrest and detoured traffic, but is still about 40% out of control. Hoping a few more rains will help. And one fire was a somewhat controled burn, but not completely confined. The whole spring and summer you wake up thinking its foggy out and discover upon opening a door or window, no, it’s still the fires burning.

        • Yes Miri- I have. It looks suspicious.

          • Yes Miri- I have. It looks suspicious. I am adding here that the reason I think so is because of the Greer, Az. fires I wonder about now too. Could be nature or coincidence and so could the weather but I now have issues with too many coincidences soooo…

  29. Isn’t Ed just a special person? He’s a high school teacher! Could he be “teaching” your child? What I said:

Hey, Teacher! Leave them kids alone.

Seriously, I hope that Ed uses his ODD blog and ours in class. The native intelligence of American children (unless intimidated into NOT SPEAKING) is something I rely on, so long as they’re allowed to deviate from the party line. But, sadly, I’m not sure that would hold true in Ed’s class. Imagine if he speaks to his students as he speaks to us, as a GUEST here in OUR house. Imagine if he characterizes them in class as he does us. Singles one or another out for daring to depart from the Theory of the World According to Ed.

  30. I almost missed Ed’s last quoted statements. ROFLMAO. He’s trying to SAVE US from drowning. OMG. Too precious. Bless his pointed little head.

  31. That’s funny, Papoose! Here’s a story right up Ed’s alley: Censor opinions; don’t debate them: http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2011/jun/27/lord-monckton-university-lecture1

Academics in Australia are calling for the University of Notre Dame in Fremantle to cancel a lecture due to be given by the prominent climate sceptic Lord Monckton on Thursday.

In a letter seen by the Guardian, which is currently being circulated among academics, the undersigned say that Monckton ‘stands for the kind of ignorance and superstition that universities have a duty to counter’ and ‘Notre Dame has a responsibility to avoid promoting discredited views on an issue of public risk’. Signatories already supporting the open letter include professors and lecturers across Australia, but also academics in the UK and US.”

Riddle me this: Weren’t global warming “academics in the UK” the very ones who FUDGED data to match preconceived notions of how the universe should be, in their warped imaginings? All for political and financial reasons, by any means necessary, for the sake of the NWO and to bring low the USA. University of East Anglia, iirc.

Wasn’t another self-proclaimed academic, namely Algore, a fellow prevaricator for political (and personal financial) reasons, via his infamous damned-lie, statistics-fudging “hockey stick” graph? I do believe so. Talk about “discredited ideas!”

But these asshats don’t want to give logical, intelligent Lord Monckton a venue in which to speak. NO, the Orwellian left MUST censor opposing views. The people cannot, at all cost, be ALLOWED to make up their own minds. The progressives WILL RAM THEIR NWO DOWN OUR THROATS, WHETHER WE LIKE IT OR NOT. THEY WILL IMPOSE THEIR VISION ON THE ENTIRE WORLD. WHAT DOES THIS MAKE THEM? Hmmm?

“The letter continues: ‘We all support academic freedom and the freedom to express our ideas and beliefs … [However] Notre Dame’s invitation to Lord Monckton makes a mockery of academic standards and the pursuit of evidence-based knowledge.”

ROFLMAO! They support “academic freedom” and freedom of speech, SO LONG AS YOU SAY WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO SAY. OTHERWISE, SHUT UP. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO SPEAK IF YOU DEVIATE FROM THE PARTY LINE.

Monckton was exactly right and he shouldn’t have apologized. They are Nazis.

    • I really have not dwelled too long on Ed’s Opinions and so far, really haven’t been able to tell if he’s just not borrowing our opinions and trying to magically stir em up in his magic potion bathtub and make them into something else. And “Frankly Speaking” I don’t give a Rat’s Asteroid” if Ed has an opinion. It sounds like a growth….ooops,no that would be an apendage.

  32. No meltdown in Nebraska yet.

  33. NC Nuclear Reactor Leaking Radioactive Water

    Posted on July 11, 2011 by Eowyn| 2 Comments

    North Carolina State University

Report: North Carolina nuclear facility with superheated uranium leaking ten gallons of radioactive cooling water per hour

by Ethan A. Huff, staff writer of Natural News – July 10, 2011

A nuclear research reactor at North Carolina State University (NCSU) in Raleigh, NC, was recently shut down after it was discovered that the plant has been leaking about ten gallons of nuclear cooling water per hour for at least the past week. Officials from the university, however, claim that the leak, which stems from the 15,000 gallons of water used to cool the superheated uranium reactor core, poses “no public health threat.”

The announcement comes on the heels of several others involving US nuclear plants, including the potentially ill-fated Fort Calhoun Nuclear facility near Omaha, Neb. (http://www.naturalnews.com/032870_F…), and the Los Alamos National Laboratory that was threatened by wildfires last week (http://www.naturalnews.com/032871_w…). In the NC case, reports do not indicate why radioactive cooling water is leaking from the facility, but its operators insist, just like the experts associated with the other nuclear plants are doing, that everything is just fine.

“The leak is the size of a pinhead,” said NCSU spokeswoman Caroline Barnhill concerning the incident, in an attempt to quell concern. The school insists that the radioactive water poses no threat whatsoever to humans or to the environment because exposure to it is allegedly the equivalent of undergoing an X-ray. The school also says that because the leak is under 350 gallons per hour, it did not even have to notify the public about it (but decided to anyway).

It is interesting how every time there is a radioactive discrepancy, experts insist that it is harmless — and they almost always, especially in recent days, refer to it as being no different than an X-ray.

Worried about the radiation emitted by naked body scanners at the airport? Do not worry, they say, it is just like getting an X-ray. Radioactive water is leaking from a nuclear facility? No worries — it is no different than an X-ray.

Even in Japan, just after the massive earthquake and tsunami hit Fukushima, experts basically ordered people not to worry because the radioactive fallout was no different than “a chest X-ray,” they falsely said (http://www.naturalnews.com/031759_r…).

If radiation was not the serious, deadly substance that it is, such idiotic propositions about its safety would be humorous. Every disaster, after all, whether it is a small water leak or a three-core nuclear meltdown, ends up being the equivalent of an X-ray and nothing more. And as silly as it sounds, experts routinely use the line about X-rays in their attempts to placate the public and rock it back to sleep.

Reports do not indicate very many details about the situation at NCSU, other than to denounce that it is of any danger whatsoever. But clearly this statement alone is untrue based on the X-ray explanation, because X-rays themselves are dangerous and are known to cause cancer (http://www.naturalnews.com/X-rays.html).

So to suggest that the radioactive water leak in NC poses absolutely no threat is itself a lie by default. And if experts are willing to lie about the little things, there is no telling what else they might be hiding from the public.
