Osama Bin Laden Dead, Body In US Custody, Obama Makes Statement, Interrupts Sunday Night TV

Osama Bin Laden Dead,  Photo, Mail Online

Here’s to our Armed Forces who, after 10 years, finally located and destroyed our arch enemy, the terrorist and murderer Osama Bin Laden.

Good work!! Congratulations!!

President  Obama made a statement about the death of Osama Bin Laden, whose body was in US custody.

Regular TV programming had been interrupted while Obama was stringing us along. He was late with his statement, delaying, making us wait.

I know why. It finally dawned on me. His staff had to get his teleprompter programmed. Oh, how could I have not realized sooner!

After Bin Laden was killed, his body was taken by Navy Seals. US personnel scanned Bin Laden’s face into a facial recognition database, performed DNA tests then wrapped him in a white sheet and dumped off the side of their aircraft carrier. Amen.

Osama was reportedly shot in the head and, if the White House releases pictures of Osama Bin Laden’s dead body,  I  hope it’s not that obviously photo-shopped photo of  a dead Osama Bin Laden, with a gooey looking head wound, that’s been floating around on the internet. After all, Obama has problems with phony looking documents and photos.

ABC News Reports,

Bin Laden was located at a compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, which was monitored and when the time was determined to be right, the president said, he authorized a “targeted operation.”

“A small team of Americans carried out the operation,” Obama said. “After a firefight, they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body.”

DNA testing confirmed that it was bin Laden, sources told ABC News.

Obama said tonight that he was briefed last August on a possible but “far from certain” lead to bin Laden, but it took many months for the intelligence community to “run this thread to ground.”

“I met repeatedly with my National Security team as we developed more information about the possibility that we had located Bin Laden hiding within a compound deep inside Pakistan,” the president said.

“Finally, last week I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action and authorized an operation to get Osama Bin Laden and bring him to justice,” he said.

Fox News  Reports,

……U.S. officials said the helicopter raid in Pakistan was carried out by CIA paramilitaries together with the elite Navy SEAL Team Six. The U.S. team took custody of bin Laden’s remains, which American officials said were being handled in accordance with Islamic tradition.

The death marks a psychological triumph in a long struggle, although its ultimate impact on al Qaeda is less clear.

The greatest terrorist threat to the U.S. is now considered to be the al-Qaida franchise in Yemen, far from al Qaeda’s core in Pakistan. The Yemen branch almost took down a U.S.-bound airliner on Christmas 2009 and nearly detonated explosives aboard two U.S. cargo planes last fall. Those operations were carried out without any direct involvement from bin Laden……..

……..Based on statements given by U.S. detainees, intelligence officials have known for years that bin Laden trusted one al Qaeda courier in particular, and they believed he might be living with him in hiding. In November, intelligence officials found out where he was living, a huge fortified compound in an affluent suburb of Islamabad. It was surrounded by walls as high as 18 feet high, topped with barbed wire. There were two security gates and no phone or Internet running into the house.

Intelligence officials believed the $1 million home was custom-built to harbor a major terrorist. CIA experts analyzed whether it could be anyone else, but time and again, they decided it was almost certainly bin Laden.

Three adult males were also killed in Sunday’s raid, including one of bin Laden’s sons, whom officials did not name. One of bin Laden’s sons, Hamza, is a senior member of al Qaeda.

Sources said the attack was carried out by Joint Special Operations Command forces working with the CIA.

It is reported that Osama Bin Laden was offered a chance to surrender but refused and a very short time later took a bullet to the head.

One of four US helicopters participating in the raid suffered mechanical failure and crashed into Bin Laden’s compound. Navy Seals blew up the helicopter  for security reasons. The compound is now on fire.

  1. Brennan was in the room watching what was happening. He is standing sort of behind Hillary!, but I do not see Jay Carney in the room, so maybe Carney is wrong. Pamela Geller at Atlas Shrugs also says what the Insider says. Obama did not want to do this. Too bad they released that photo. Not only does it make Obama look small and not in charge, it will make it harder for them to keep changing their stories.

    • Yes, it is too bad that they released that photo. Now we have their testimony that they watched the whole raid.

So why don’t they release photos or clips of the dead one before he took a shot to the face?

  2. http://www.infowars.com/forget-pakistan-us-knew-bin-ladens-location-all-along/

Bin Laden’s shocked neighbors have told the media of their disbelief that Bin Laden or his aides could have lived in the town without being noticed. Indeed, one man who lived next door to the compound raided by US Navy SEALS told Al Jazeera that residents in the area carry documents because they are constantly asked to identify themselves by military forces.

  3. Leza, it was already posted. BB

In a gruesome game of wait and see, the CIA is drawing out the release of photos its claims show a double-tapped Osama bin Laden.

Leon Panetta, Obama’s director at the CIA, told Brian Williams of “NBC Nightly News” today the agency would eventually present a photograph and pawn it off as evidence. In the meantime, we will be obliged to wait on pins and needles.

  5. Hi Renee,

I cannot see why China would care a fig about Israel. It has no strategic value to China or Russia and both countries have enough weapons to destroy it if it came to all out war.
I have thought for a long time that Iran is a Russian/Chinese proxy,
and that it probably already has nukes, not their own of course.
It needs to be seen to develop it’s own before Russia or China will give
    Iran the firing codes.

Now what can we conclude for sure about Osama? Well, for sure, he is dead. The prezodent wouldn’t take the risk of declaring him dead only for him to pop up a few months later in a new video. So we know the WH knows he is dead.

Whether or not he was killed in that compound could be dubious.
The rush to get rid of a body is suspicious.

The compound operation could be real, Russia could have decided
that their man in the WH was a more important asset than Bin Laden
and simply gave him up,Rasmussen Reports shows almost no change in Obama’s approval rating, which I take as a good thing.

I have never thought that Russia or China wants WW3. If they did theycould just fire their strategic arsenal. I have always thought that their plan is to detonate half a dozen “terrorist” nukes in key cities in the USA. I’m not going to make a list but you get the idea. The resulting economic damage to our country could take twenty years to repair, by which time Russia and or China will be Numero Uno. The secondary side effect (We destroy Iran) is also part of their plan. The KGB coined the phrase “useful idiots”.

Russia won’t want Iran around after it has done the job for t hem.
Conservative Monster asks a really good question: Why doesn’t Al-Qaeda ever attack Russia or China? They don’t you know, they just don’t.

  6. http://www.infowars.com/obamas-announcement-only-fuels-the-mythology-of-bin-laden/

Bin Laden’s body was then allegedly recovered by the U.S. military and kept in its possession until it was dumped at sea hours later. From here, the story begins to get very dicey. Both ABC News and the Associated Press have reported that the body has been identified by DNA testing using tissue and blood samples taken from his sister who died of brain cancer previously. However, Reuters reports that DNA test results will not actually be available for days still, and that his body was identified using facial recognition techniques.

Adding to the confusion surrounding evidence of bin Laden’s death, US military officials are said to have immediately disposed of the body in the Arabian Sea, supposedly adhering to “Muslim burial customs”. Washington insists that they have photos and video of the body, but have yet to release them to the public.

This means that, in theory, there can only be a limited number of actual witnesses and that there is no body to verify that it genuinely was bin Laden, leaving the public with only the government’s official version of events to believe. Confusion, not conclusion, will be the order of the day. It is likely that this tactic was an intentional one on the part of Washington, providing pundits and conspiracy theorists with an endless knot that will take decades to unravel.

White House fumbles getting its Osama bin Laden story straight

    DEBKAfile Special Report May 4, 2011, 3:20 PM (GMT+02:00)

The Abbottabad villa does not support US account of a fortress with few windows

Two days after the US President Barack Obama’s triumphal announcement that Osama bin Laden was dead, the White House was grappling with a serious credibility problem: Questions and contradictions are mounting about the how and why US elite SEALs killed the most wanted man in the world at his mansion in Abbottabad, Pakistan on May 2. New information proving the first stories wrong comes not just from a defensive Pakistan government but also from US officials.

Dismissing the conflicting disclosures as “artificial stories” and “conspiracy theories” won’t wash – not just in the US but in Arab and Muslim countries after Washington was forced to retract data the president’s adviser on terrorism John Brennan put before the media on Tuesday. It was admitted tardily that bin Laden was not armed when he was killed, there was no firefight in the Abbottabad villa and his wife was not used as a human shield.

Pakistani sources challenged other parts of the original narrative and Wednesday, May 4, the dead terrorist’s daughter told Al Arabiya TV most damagingly that her father was captured alive and then shot by US forces.

Even before that, amid rising demands for evidence that Osama bin Laden was dead, White House spokesman Jay Carney confessed Tuesday night: “Even I’m getting confused.” And no wonder. Monday, in his first statement on the operation, Obama stated: “And finally, last week, I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action, and authorized an operation to get Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice.” Was he talking about a targeted assassination?
Brennan later said that in the firefight in the terrorist’s bedroom he had been asked to surrender and was shot dead when he did not answer. Another US spokesman said the SEALs were ready to take him alive.
Other US sources described the shooting as happening quickly – “in the blink of an eye,” said one. The Republican leader Mitt Romney remarked: “Osama bin Laden took one in the eye.”

His daughter’s evidence contradicted this jumble of American versions. Even though she must have had a Pakistani green light for the Al Arabiya interview, her testimony cannot be lightly dismissed because she was present and shot in the leg before being taken into Pakistani custody. Her version makes it look as though US troops executed her father in cold blood.

The backlash from her testimony will not do much good to the delicate relations between the Obama administration and Muslim rulers like Saudi King Abdullah which are already tested to the limit over US involvement in the Egyptian uprising and Libyan war.
Pakistani leaders are caught awkwardly between an effort to clear their intelligence service ISI of American accusations of collusion in concealing the al Qaeda leader’s presence in its midst, and domestic opinion, which is outraged by their government’s suspected connivance with Washington to betray a Muslim figure and permit American forces to violate sovereign territory.

Reporters in Islamabad heard from the Pakistani foreign secretary Salman Bashir Wednesday, May 4: “We had indicated this complex (in Abbottabad) as far back as 2009 as a possible place,” after sighting suspected terrorist movements on the property. It was not known at the time that bin Laden was hiding there and there were millions of other suspect locations, he said.
Bashir also hit out at former CIA Director Leon Panetta’s comments that informing Islamabad in advance about the raid had been ruled out as “worrying.”
These comments are just the start of the war of words building up between the Zardari-Ghilani government and the Obama administration. Islamabad has one major advantage: The inmates of the Abbottabad villa and the injured persons present when bin Laden was killed are in Pakistani custody, some in military hospitals. They can be produced whenever necessary to rebut Arab and Muslim criticism of Pakistan’s conduct and fend off any attempts to undermine its ties with the Taliban, which has already vowed to avenge Osama bin Laden’s death in Pakistan and Afghanistan and outside those countries.
This verbal war will make further inroads on the Obama White House’s credibility.

    • Young Osama Daughter: They Captured My Father Alive & Shot Him Dead In Front of Us
      Wednesday, May 4, 2011, 5:06 AM

Osama Bin Laden’s young daughter told security officials that the US commandos shot her father dead in front of the family. She also said the US took the body of Osama’s son back with them.
      Al Arabiya reported:
Senior Pakistani security officials said Osama bin Laden’s daughter had confirmed her father was captured alive and shot dead by the US Special Forces during the first few minutes of the operation carried out at the huge compound in Bilal Town, Abbottabad.

Besides recovering four bullet-riddled bodies from the compound, Pakistani security agencies also arrested two women and six children, aged between 2 and 12 years, after American forces flew toward Afghanistan. Some reports suggest 16 people, including women and children, were arrested from the house, most of them Arab nationals.
A Pakistani security source told Al Arabiya that Bin Laden family members had been transported to Rawalpindi, which is near Islamabad. He added, “They are now under treatment in the military hospital of Rawalpindi, where they have been transported in an helicopter.” A source told Al Arabiya that Bin Laden’s [ ] had been injured either in her leg or her shoulder.
He added that the members of the household were children and Bin Laden’s wife, in addition to a Yemeni woman. He added that the woman might be the personal doctor of the family. Bin Laden was known to be afflicted with renal failure.
Sources speculated that US Forces could not arrest these family members because there weren’t enough places for them in the helicopter, after they lost another chopper during the operation.
About the slain woman: officials said she could either be Bin Laden’s wife or a close family member since she offered to sacrifice her life for him. “As per our information, she shielded Bin Laden during the operation and was killed by American commandos,” an official said.

The US Special Forces only took two bodies with them in the military chopper; one is said to be Bin Laden’s and the other his son’s. By the time Pakistani security agencies and soldiers arrived at the spot, the US commandos were flying over the mountains in the Pakistani tribal belt, well on their way to Afghanistan.

Sources said one of the two women taken into custody from the compound by Pakistani forces was one of Osama bin Laden’s several wives. “She is Yemeni and became unconscious during the operation,” said an official. Pleading anonymity, he said the woman was provided necessary medical aid till she became conscious.

UPDATE: Another report says that Osama’s son was alive when they took him away.

    • but was she shot in the leg like that guy that got nipped with gunfire in Gabriella’s shooting? I want to know. This daughter is already back the next day in the limelight? (is she really one of his many many children) How would we know for sure? I suggesst all in the story get DNA tested.

      • This sister that died of brain cancer, convenient, but Osama is the only son of Mohammed and Alia—-Hamri Ja-al- Attas. He had no full sister . He had no sisters or brothers by his mother and Mohammed.

  8. Why did they shoot an unarmed “osama” and then dispose of the body before it could be independently identified as osama. KSM was captured and much valuable intel was gotten from his interrogations that prevented future terrorist attacks. So why did they kill “osama” rather than capture and interrogate him?

  9. GW Bush Declines Obama’s Invitation To Ground Zero Victory Dance
Posted by Lady Liberty on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, 6:15 AM

President Obama, after having sharply criticized former President Bush “for neglecting the hunt for bin Laden by invading Iraq”, graciously extended an invitation to join him at ground zero in NYC on Thursday to celebrate the death of Osama bin Laden.

In an unexpected move, George W. Bush declined President Obama’s invitation, citing his desire to avoid the media glare. Bush spokesman David Sherzer told POLITICO in an email Tuesday night. “He continues to celebrate with all Americans this important victory in the war on terror.”

The president will travel to the site of the World Trade Center to mark the killing of bin Laden, who was gunned down during a daring raid on his compound north of Islamabad on Sunday. Word of bin Laden’s death prompted hundreds of New Yorkers to gather in celebration at the scene of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people in New York, Washington, D.C., and Shanksville, Pa.

Obama also extended an invitation to Rudy Giuliani to join him at ground zero. No word yet on whether he will attend.

  10. FOX has a poll asking if the photos of the dead Bin Laden should be released. Over 144,000+ responses so far. 78% believe they should be! It is totally up to Obama to decide if the photos will be seen…considered a national security concern.

Only he can make the decision and no FOIA requests can force the government to release them nor can any lawsuits be brought to make them. (Judge Napolitano).

  12. Iranian Regime & Taliban Doubt Bin Laden’s Death
Jim Hoft on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, 5:44 AM

Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi questioned the US reports on Osama Bin Laden’s death.
    Fars News reported:
Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi questioned the authenticity and reliability of the recent announcement made by the US president about the death of the Al-Qaeda Leader, Osama bin Laden.
“Bin Laden’s death report is suspicious in essence since they claim that they have discharged his body in the sea,” Vahidi told reporters on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting here in Tehran on Wednesday.
“We should ask why they have not allowed an impartial party to observe this process,” he said.

Likewise, the Taliban still does not believe that Osama Bin Laden is dead.
    My FOX Philly reported:
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said talk of Osama bin Laden’s death was “premature,” adding that the U.S. had not presented “convincing evidence,” the SITE Intelligence Group reported.
“As the Americans did not provide any acceptable evidence to back up their claim, and as the other aides close to Osama bin Laden have not confirmed or denied the death … therefore the Islamic Emirate consider any assertion premature,” said a statement emailed to media by Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid.

  13. http://www.myfoxny.com/dpp/news/pakistan-claims-it-warned-about-compound-in-2009-20110504-ncx

NEWSCORE – Pakistan hit back Wednesday about US fears that it could not be trusted with details of the raid on osama bin Laden’s compound and claimed it had identified the potential hideout as far back as 2009.

The foreign minister, Salman Bashir, said CIA chief Leon Panetta’s suggestion that Pakistan could have tipped off the al Qaeda leader and jeopardized Sunday’s operation was “disquieting.”

“He is entitled to his views, but I know for sure that we have extended every cooperation to the US, including the CIA, and to other countries as far as the campaign against terror is concerned,” Bashir told the BBC. “All the significant al Qaeda people who have been picked up, it was done by the ISI [Pakistan’s Intelligence Service], from Pakistan towns and cities.”

Bashir went on to claim that the ISI passed on its suspicions about the compound in Abbottabad two years ago.

“The fact is, on this particular occasion, it was pointed out by our intelligence quite some time ago to the US intelligence,” he said. “We had indicated as far back as 2009 [it was] a possible place.”

Bashir added that there were “millions” of other potential locations for bin Laden and that Pakistan had concentrated on the “caves and hideouts.”

The ISI said it again warned just six months ago that “suspicious foreigners” and even “al Qaeda operatives” were potentially inside the compound but denied knowing bin Laden was among them, according to Sky News. There was no immediate response to that claim from the Obama administration.

    May 4, 2011

A FEARLESS four-legged recruit joined US Special Forces as they stormed Osama Bin Laden’s secret lair.

The explosive-sniffing dog was strapped to an assault team member as they took on one of their greatest challenges to date. He was part of the operation in which the elite US Navy Seals lowered themselves down ropes from three Black Hawk helicopters into the terrorist supremo’s hideout in the town of Abbottabad, Pakistan, on Sunday.

Heavily armoured hounds — equipped with infrared night-sight cameras — have been used in the past by the top-secret unit. The war dogs wear ballistic body armour that is said to withstand damage from single and double-edged knives, as well as protective gear which shields them from shrapnel and gunfire.

German Shepherds have been leading the way in SAS raids in Iraq and Afghanistan. Wearing oxygen masks, the pooches have been trained to jump from aircraft at 25,000ft, before seeking out insurgents in hostile environments. The animals will attack anyone carrying a weapon and have become a pivotal part of special operations as they crawl unnoticed into tunnels or rooms to hunt for enemy combatants. The cameras on their heads beam live TV pictures back to the troops, providing them with critical information and warning of ambushes.

Dogs were also used in the capture of Saddam Hussein and in the killing of the Iraqi dictator’s two sons.

    • Yesterday, May 3, 2011, Alex Jones, Infowars, interviewed Dr. Steve Pieczenik for two hours during his daily broadcast. (7 parts)

Dr. Pieczenik reiterated the facts on the ground then, back in 2002, that Osama Bin Laden suffered from Marfan’s Syndrome and was in renal failure in 2001. The US CIA paid for Bin Laden’s treatment at a hospital in Dubai who shortly thereafter died by Special Forces. Dr. Pieczenik reported to Alex in 2002 that Osama’s body was then frozen only to be trotted out when it would be most useful to whomever was serving as President at the time.

Many who were more than aware of these facts were stunned to see President Obama and his White House staff use this sick ploy on Sunday night, which was intentionally orchestrated as a decoy. Yes. A decoy. The psyop operation you have witnessed in “real time” during the last 72 hours is deliberate.

  20. Pakistan Arrests C.I.A. Informants in Bin Laden Raid
    14 JUNE 2011
    ERIC SCHMITT and MARK MAZZETTI

WASHINGTON — Pakistan’s top military spy agency has arrested some of the Pakistani informants who fed information to the Central Intelligence Agency in the months leading up to the raid that led to the death of Osama bin Laden, according to American officials.

Pakistan’s detention of five C.I.A. informants, including a Pakistani Army major who officials said copied the license plates of cars visiting Bin Laden’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, in the weeks before the raid, is the latest evidence of the fractured relationship between the United States and Pakistan. It comes at a time when the Obama administration is seeking Pakistan’s support in brokering an endgame in the war in neighboring Afghanistan.

At a closed briefing last week, members of the Senate Intelligence Committee asked Michael J. Morell, the deputy C.I.A. director, to rate Pakistan’s cooperation with the United States on counterterrorism operations, on a scale of 1 to 10. “Three,” Mr. Morell replied, according to officials familiar with the exchange.

The fate of the C.I.A. informants arrested in Pakistan is unclear, but American officials said that the C.I.A. director, Leon E. Panetta, raised the issue when he travelled to Islamabad last week to meet with Pakistani military and intelligence officers.

Some in Washington see the arrests as illustrative of the disconnect between Pakistani and American priorities at a time when they are supposed to be allies in the fight against Al Qaeda instead of hunting down the support network that allowed Bin Laden to live comfortably for years, the Pakistani authorities are arresting those who assisted in the raid that killed the world’s most wanted man.

    • The last sentence sounds like how our “government” media operates, doesn’t it? Written by someone at the NY Times, too. One would think that they were supposed to be informing the USA about Bin Laden and his whereabouts. Who is hunting whom in the Pakistani government? Those doing the hunting must be complicit with Al Queda..
Time to cut off the funds..but then again we have Panetta who will be taking over Gates’ job, and his communist connections are extremely suspect, aren’t they.

      • You said everything I would have said. I used to think Panetta was okay. But of course, my information about him came from the media. Enuf said.

Pakistan due to get $300 million in U.S. security reimbursement
    KARACHI | Thu May 12, 2011 6:35am BST

(Reuters) – Pakistan is likely to get $300 million from the United States for costs incurred in fighting militants, officials said on Thursday, at a time U.S. legislators have been questioning aid to Pakistan after Osama bin Laden was found there.

The funds are part of a so-called Coalition Support Fund (CSF), a U.S. program to reimburse countries that have incurred costs supporting counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations.

“Pakistan should receive $300 million soon,” said a Pakistani finance official who declined to be identified.
The United States has reimbursed Pakistan $7.4 billion under the CSF program since 2001, when Pakistan joined the U.S.-led campaign against militancy. Funds that come in through the CSF are not officially designated as U.S. foreign aid.

Some U.S. lawmakers have questioned whether Pakistan was serious about fighting militants after U.S. special forces found and killed al Qaeda leader bin Laden in a Pakistani town near the capital on May 2.

Some of them have called for a suspension of aid but the U.S. administration has stressed the importance of maintaining cooperation with the uneasy ally in the interests of battling militancy and bringing stability to neighboring Afghanistan.

Pakistan has rejected accusations that it was either incompetent in tracking down the man behind the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States or complicit in hiding him in the town of Abbottabad, 50 km (30 miles) north of Islamabad.

U.S. legislators have long complained there is little accountability for the funds given Pakistan through the CSF. In 2008, U.S. auditors said there was not always enough documentation to verify that costs being reimbursed were valid.

The U.S. funds are due as cash-strapped Pakistan is in negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the release of the next tranche of an $11.3 billion loan.

Pakistan and IMF officials began talks on Wednesday — meetings moved to Dubai after bin Laden’s death — aimed at getting agreement on enough reforms in the coming budget to restart a halted IMF bailout loan. In August last year, the IMF stopped releasing funds because of Pakistan’s patchy implementation of promised fiscal reforms.

    http://www.uk.reuters.com/article/2011/05/12/us-pakistan-us-aid-idUKTRE74B0TD20110512

    • So we send them billions…plus they go for an $11.3 Billion loan from the IMF…and guess what folks, we supply most of the cash that is in the IMF as well. The US supplies the IMF with 20% of their money. Double dipping on the US taxpayers.

May Pakistan remain strapped for cash..as long as they continue their non-working relationship with the US as the money is to be used to “fight” terrorists, not support them. Keep funding them for what purpose? Let them kill themselves. Why would we expect something different from a corrupt government and a third world country? Where would they be without our funding for the last 10 years? Then our government can’t get information as to how the money is spent? I thought Hillary was going to fix that problem?

Why do we continue to support them? For fear of their nukes…solve the problem, take over their nukes. We have the armed forces close by… remove the nukes and then we are free of them. Then we have only Iran to worry about…well, Iran and all of its supporting allies. Who really has control over the nukes in the first place? If the government is protecting terrorists.. then it appears the terrorists already have control of them.

      • I believe that the problem is that the nukes are in “undisclosed” locations, so we don’t know where they are in order to secure them. Nice, huh?

        • We know where they are, as they have been inspected by our military. This is/was a major concern and so we have visited the locations. I remember a congressional hearing where either Gates, General Petraeus, or someone of their status stating the nukes were safe and they had visited..

          • U.S. confident of safety of nuclear weapons, despite al-Qaeda presence
            NEW DELHI, May 21, 2011

But it [US] was emphatically confident that the terrorist group could not lay its hands on Pakistan’s nuclear weapons guarded by the country’s military and was at pains to explain that it did not have any plan to seize them.

It is not clear if this assessment has changed after the discovery that bin Laden was living in Pakistan for at least six years under the shadow of a military academy. But a U.S. diplomatic cable of December 2, 2009 (237503: unclassified) shows that the U.S. was convinced that Pakistan Army was doing a capable job of protecting the weapons.

The cable was accessed by The Hindu through WikiLeaks.

            • Well, that’s good news. Thanks. I didn’t know that, but it’s dependent upon the Pakistani Army showing them all the nukes. This would be the same Army that might be infiltrated by people who helped hide OBL all those years? Of course our administration’s going to tell us they’re secure. “confident”. Right.

btw, Bridgette: Thanks for adding those tags for me. Just remembered to do it and found it’s already done. Tanks!

      • Strauss-Kahn’s IMF golden parachute
Congress should pull the plug on the international giant’s funding

        May 20, 2011 Snips

Congress does not give the IMF an annual funding, but periodically gives money requested for specific items like loans to countries. The last time the U.S. gave money to IMF was in 2009. The Obama administration requested, and the Democratic Congress authorized, an astronomical $108 billion in funds to the IMF. When the emergency supplemental appropriations bill was finalized, the Democratic Congress gave IMF approximately $18 billion.

At that time, the IMF also requested authority from the United States to sell about $9 billion worth of gold assets to pay for its operating expenses. Congress agreed to the gold sale only after getting assurances from the IMF that it would significantly cut its internal expenses. The IMF went ahead and sold the 12 million ounces of gold, but has refused U.S. requests for information on how the proceeds were used and how the operating expenses have been cut.

        • Do we see a pattern of giving money but not getting a financial report showing how the money was used or spent? We get “assurances”…are those verbal assurances or contractual? About time to put someone in charge that CAN vouch for the money and be accountable. Who are we giving money to that they can’t account for it?

          • Do we see a pattern of giving money but not getting a financial report showing how the money was used or spent?
Yes. We are suckers and are just here to pay. Nunya where it goes ya know ?

  22. SEALs Killed Usama Bin Laden Within Minutes, New Book Reveals
    November 06, 2011

The U.S. Navy SEALs on the hunt for Usama bin Laden killed the Al Qaeda leader within 2 minutes of entering his fortress-like home in Pakistan, a new book reveals.

Chuck Pfarrer, a former SEAL Team Six assault-element commander, says it only took the SEALs 90 to 120 seconds – from landing to firing the fatal shot – to take out bin Laden, according to his new book, “Seal Target Geronimo,” the New York Post reports. Pfarrer insists that the SEALs were not on a “kill mission,” and that the team would have captured bin Laden had he surrendered.

Pfarrer’s book reveals that the Seals’ nickname for bin Laden and his deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri, were Bert and Ernie, the Courier Mail reports

When they were first told they were going to Pakistan to pick up a high-value person who was holed up in a high-walled compound, they asked, “So is this Bert or Ernie?”

According to an extract from a Sunday Times report, two Seals kicked in bin Laden’s bedroom door. Bin Laden then popped out and then slammed the door shut. The room, the Navy Seals recalled, “smelt like old clothing, like a guest bedroom in a grandmother’s house”.

Inside was the Al Qaeda leader and his youngest wife, Amal, who was screaming as he pushed her in front of him. “No, no, don’t do this!” she shouted as her husband reached across the bed for his AK-47 assault rifle,” the extract read. The SEALs reacted instantly, firing in the same second. One round thudded into the mattress. The other aimed at Bin Laden’s head, grazed Amal in the calf. As Bin Laden’s hand reached for the gun, the Seals fired again, killing the Al Qaeda leader.

Pfarrer’s book, according to the Post, also reveals that the SEALs were angry with President Obama for announcing bin Laden’s death on TV just hours after they completed the mission on May 1.
