Obama: I Am Opposed to a Dumb War

Yesterday, I ran across a speech that Barack Obama made to an anti-war rally in Chicago on October 2, 2002.  Here is the speech in its entirety for the purpose of comparison to what he will say tonight, as a public service, when he tries to explain to the American people why he went to war in Libya (with my emphasis and some comments added):

Good afternoon. Let me begin by saying that although this has been billed as an anti-war rally, I stand before you as someone who is not opposed to war in all circumstances.

The Civil War was one of the bloodiest in history, and yet it was only through the crucible of the sword, the sacrifice of multitudes, that we could begin to perfect this union, and drive the scourge of slavery from our soil. I don’t oppose all wars.

My grandfather signed up for a war the day after Pearl Harbor [He enlisted 1/18/1942; Pearl Harbor was 12/7/41] was bombed, fought in Patton’s army. He saw the dead and dying across the fields of Europe; he heard the stories of fellow troops who first entered Auschwitz and Treblinka. He fought in the name of a larger freedom, part of that arsenal of democracy that triumphed over evil, and he did not fight in vain.

I don’t oppose all wars.

After September 11th, after witnessing the carnage and destruction, the dust and the tears, I supported this Administration’s pledge to hunt down and root out those who would slaughter innocents in the name of intolerance, and I would willingly take up arms myself to prevent such a tragedy from happening again.

I don’t oppose all wars. And I know that in this crowd today, there is no shortage of patriots, or of patriotism. What I am opposed to is a dumb war. What I am opposed to is a rash war. What I am opposed to is the cynical attempt by Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz and other arm-chair, weekend warriors in this Administration to shove their own ideological agendas down our throats, irrespective of the costs in lives lost and in hardships borne.

What I am opposed to is the attempt by political hacks like Karl Rove to distract us from a rise in the uninsured, a rise in the poverty rate, a drop in the median income — to distract us from corporate scandals and a stock market that has just gone through the worst month since the Great Depression.

That’s what I’m opposed to. A dumb war. A rash war. A war based not on reason but on passion, not on principle but on politics.

Now let me be clear — I suffer no illusions about Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal man. A ruthless man. A man who butchers his own people to secure his own power. He has repeatedly defied UN resolutions, thwarted UN inspection teams, developed chemical and biological weapons, and coveted nuclear capacity.

He’s a bad guy. The world, and the Iraqi people, would be better off without him.

But I also know that Saddam poses no imminent and direct threat to the United States, or to his neighbors, that the Iraqi economy is in shambles, that the Iraqi military a fraction of its former strength, and that in concert with the international community he can be contained until, in the way of all petty dictators, he falls away into the dustbin of history.

I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a US occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences. I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East, and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world, and strengthen the recruitment arm of al-Qaeda.

I am not opposed to all wars. I’m opposed to dumb wars.

So for those of us who seek a more just and secure world for our children, let us send a clear message to the president today. You want a fight, President Bush? Let’s finish the fight with Bin Laden and al-Qaeda, through effective, coordinated intelligence, and a shutting down of the financial networks that support terrorism, and a homeland security program that involves more than color-coded warnings.

You want a fight, President Bush? Let’s fight to make sure that the UN inspectors can do their work, and that we vigorously enforce a non-proliferation treaty, and that former enemies and current allies like Russia safeguard and ultimately eliminate their stores of nuclear material, and that nations like Pakistan and India never use the terrible weapons already in their possession, and that the arms merchants in our own country stop feeding the countless wars that rage across the globe.

You want a fight, President Bush? Let’s fight to make sure our so-called allies in the Middle East, the Saudis and the Egyptians, stop oppressing their own people, and suppressing dissent, and tolerating corruption and inequality, and mismanaging their economies so that their youth grow up without education, without prospects, without hope, the ready recruits of terrorist cells.

You want a fight, President Bush? Let’s fight to wean ourselves off Middle East oil, through an energy policy that doesn’t simply serve the interests of Exxon and Mobil.

Those are the battles that we need to fight. Those are the battles that we willingly join. The battles against ignorance and intolerance, corruption and greed, poverty and despair.

The consequences of war are dire, the sacrifices immeasurable. We may have occasion in our lifetime to once again rise up in defense of our freedom, and pay the wages of war. But we ought not — we will not — travel down that hellish path blindly. Nor should we allow those who would march off and pay the ultimate sacrifice, who would prove the full measure of devotion with their blood, to make such an awful sacrifice in vain.

The sheer hypocrisy of this speech, made when Obama was but an Illinois senator, is mind boggling in its audacity.  Do note in particular his phrase about the need to “begin to perfect this union.” That is one of the clearest examples we have to prove that, in his mind, this union is far from perfect and that ending slavery was only the beginning of the task.  He means to perfect it according to his personal bible–America As It Should Be, by Barack Hussein Obama.  Written by a person who does not believe in American exceptionalism, who was not raised to love America but rather to hate her by focusing upon her perceived flaws–a view filtered through the red lens of communist mentors, Muslim radical relatives, and far-left progressive, domestic terrorists.

I happened upon this speech yesterday, after reading an article on The Black Commentator that excoriated Obama for removing the speech from his website after The Black Commentator published an article and sent Obama a letter, both of which asked, in effect, whether Obama fights for black progressives or is a tool of the Democratic Leadership Council.  Their testy exchange is well worth reading in its entirety.

Yesterday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Sunday morning television programs that this Libyan kinetic military action is “a watershed moment in international decision making.”   In apparent disagreement with his Commander in Chief, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates said about Libya, “No, I don’t think it’s a vital interest for the United States, but we clearly have interests there and it’s a part of the region, which is a vital interest for the United States.”

Senator Joseph Lieberman of CT said, “it’s very important for everybody to understand that what we’re doing with the world community in Libya is what the Arab world wants to us do. What the Arab street wants to us do. So, finally, we are on the side of the mass of people yearning to be free within the Arab world.”

Let me get this straight: we are doing “what the Arab Street wants” by throwing cruise missiles into Libya; bombing buildings, tanks, and Libyan troops from 30,000 feet; spending our quickly diminishing treasure, and of utmost importance, risking the lives of our brave troops?

So what can we make of this insane comment?  What the ARAB STREET wants?  The Arab Street wants women as second class citizens, little more than herd animals that exist for the pleasure of the men who own them. The Arab Street wants women covered from head to toe, chaperoned by males at all times when allowed out of the house, unable to drive, unable to receive a decent education, unable to practice self-determination, and in some cases even subject to genital mutilation.  The Arab Street wants Sharia law, which means stoning of adulterers, chopping off the hands of thieves, four male witnesses to rape or else the woman is stoned as a slut, killings at the hands of her family any female who “dishonors” the family.

In Egypt, the Arab Street decided by over 70%, in the recent referendum, that they want RELIGION (Islam) to be part of their government.  The secular students who began the democratic revolution have been pushed aside by the imams and the Muslim Brotherhood.  The election is being rushed; the result will doubtless be an Islamic state in Egypt because haste benefits the most organized, meaning the Muslim Brotherhood, which are allied, inexplicably, with the Egyptian military that formerly supported the students.

Lieberman also said of Syria, “If Assad does what Qaddafi was doing, which is to threaten and go house-to-house and kill anybody who’s not on his side. There’s a precedent now that the world community has set in Libya. And it’s the right one. We’re not going to stand by and allow this Assad to slaughter his people like his father did years ago.”

In advance of his speech this evening, Obama reports that he’s drawing down our naval presence off Libya. Obama is proud that his dumb war in Libya has prevented Qaddafi from killing thousands.  Prevented “atrocities,” he says.  So now, like with jobs created or saved, we have the new standard that can justify ANY war:  Unknown, uncounted, impossible to verify lives “saved.”

I’ve said before that our military treasure matters little to Obama because spending it in any way serves his goal of diminishing the USA military.  Every war, every day of this kinetic military action, reduces our assets, depletes our stores of missiles, adds to the wear and tear on our aging fleets (tanks, planes and ships, all assets).  As his policies continue to destroy our economy, we have fewer and fewer resources with which to rebuild.

This is unilateral disarmament by attrition.  And now Joe Lieberman is on board?

Note:  As I composed this post this morning, Glenn Beck’s show came on the radio;  he also has apparently turned up this same speech from 2002, although he hasn’t yet talked about it.  Synchronicity.

60 responses to “Obama: I Am Opposed to a Dumb War

  1. More of Obama’s meaningless words as he travels blindly down the hellish path! “But we ought not — we will not — travel down that hellish path blindly.”

Obama’s Dumb Libya War is one where there was no debate or more importantly no Congressional approval. Obama’s Dumb War is one that wasn’t important enough that he address the nation before he engaged the military. It wasn’t important enough for him to oversee its beginning, instead he jaunted off to Brazil. Obama’s Dumb War included taking directives from the U.N. and following their resolution as though it had power over our country. In so doing, Obama abdicated the power of the president to the United Nations.

That we may be supporting Al Queda forces in the guise of rebels to take over Libya is also in the mix and one over which the administration hasn’t voiced concern. Obama’s playing childhood games in the real world arena and it shows his lack of experience in all areas both foreign and domestic.

This administration’s intrusion into other governments business started in Egypt and now has spread to multiple countries, no doubt with the assistance of the Marxist Muslim agitators fueling the flames. It wasn’t enough for Obama to cause a chasm within our own country with his divisive attitude, he had to interject his anti-American, foreign attitude on the worldwide stage. All of the Middle East civil unrest can be tracked back to Obama and those with whom he is in bed. Obama’s Dumb War has happened because he is dumb and is no leader.

The Peter Principle that states “in a hierarchy every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence” should be renamed the Obama Principle!

Our employee, Obama, must be demoted or fired because he is in way over his head.

Why we would expect anything different from someone who never ran as much as a lemonade stand is beyond my comprehension.

    • US Allies With Al Qaeda In Libya
      Did. Not. See. This. Coming.

      March 27th

As we’ve noted over the past weeks, we know precious little about the alleged “rebels” on whose behalf we’ve intervened in Libya.

Now a little more information is available:

In an interview with the Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, Mr al-Hasidi admitted that he had recruited “around 25″ men from the Derna area in eastern Libya to fight against coalition troops in Iraq. Some of them, he said, are “today are on the front lines in Adjabiya”.

Mr al-Hasidi insisted his fighters “are patriots and good Muslims, not terrorists,” but added that the “members of al-Qaeda are also good Muslims and are fighting against the invader”.

His revelations came even as Idriss Deby Itno, Chad’s president, said al-Qaeda had managed to pillage military arsenals in the Libyan rebel zone and acquired arms, “including surface-to-air missiles, which were then smuggled into their sanctuaries”.

  2. Good summary, Bridgette. Exactly! And now we have Al Qaeda affiliates obtaining weapons they’re able to seize only because we’re protecting them from Qaddafi (spelling of the day). How long until they turn these same weapons against our troops in Iraq or Afghanistan, if not in Libya itself?

They hated Qaddafi BECAUSE they perceived him as a US ally, which is also why they’re allies of Al Qaeda. So for the moment, the enemy (us) of their enemy (Qaddafi) is their friend, until we help them win and then we will be their enemy again. And they will have power plus all the wealth from those oil fields–none of which wealth will be returned to us to pay for their “liberation.”

What I fear is that Obama is not as dumb as he appears. He is the community organizer in chief who has helped make the plans that are now coming to fruition via unrest all around the world.

We saw it this weekend in London, where organized students and union members (no coincidence) vandalized banks and shops under the guise of “peaceful civil disobedience“.

It’s happening here in the USA, where unions take over state houses, riot in the streets, and Democratic “representatives of the people” high tail it out of their own states to hide out in ILLINOIS, the cave of the BEAR-ick clan, instead of doing their jobs representing ALL the people, which of course includes Republicans, Libertarians, Independents and non-union workers, all of whom may not have voted for them but whom they are still supposed to represent.

It’s happening throughout the Middle East, as you said, organized by nefarious groups that USE students, young people, laborers, the poor to create unrest and chaos, so that they can then waltz into the unstable void to seize POWER and CONTROL. This is Communist revolution around the world. At least, that’s what they’re trying to do. Will they succeed? Only if we let them.

When did the American people vote to give this POTUS the power to interfere in other countries whenever the UN orders him to? Obama said he’s carrying out the UN MANDATE.

So is the UN mandate on Libya or is it on the USA?

If this is a kinetic military action by the “world community”, is the world community footing the bill or are We the People? You can guess at the answer and that’s all good for Barry, too.

His communist/Marxist/socialist GOAL is to diminish the power, prestige, exceptionalism, military, and wealth of the United States of America, which he hates. He sees himself not as an American, first and foremost, but as a citizen of the world. A citizen who aspires to be the fawned-upon leader of the WORLD.

Presidency of the USA is small potatoes for an ego the size of Barry’s. He wants to be Supreme Leader of the World.

    • They hated Qaddafi BECAUSE they perceived him as a US ally, which is also why they’re allies of Al Qaeda.

He is the community organizer in chief who has helped make the plans that are now coming to fruition via unrest all around the world

      Good post and comment above..

  3. Thank you, Renee. I wish more readers would comment. We do value input, whether in agreement or disagreement. All views welcome here.

  4. I hope everyone who can stand listening to Barry tonight will come here to comment and “compare and contrast,” as Sean Hannity likes to say. I can’t listen as it happens. I’ll read it later because I cringe whenever anything comes out of those lying purple lips. This is a policy I made back when we were at TD’s and our friend Mary discussed with us his “hypnotic” personality. Neurolinguistic programming. Remember?

    • I’d say that you are now immune to any programming. He no longer has time to institute all of the techniques into his speeches. I can’t stand listening to him either..but will read the transcript. I prefer his teleprompter’s critique! Will he give this speech from the Oval office so he can appear to be president? How many times will he mention that he is the president or CIC? What are his ratings these days..who doesn’t turn the channel? I don’t even know what time slot he chose this time nor which networks are giving him free air time for his bloviating.

      • I have heard that he’ll speak from the Oval Office, but since it’s been reported (and ridiculed) maybe he’ll switch. He will probably copy another of GWB’s speeches. Combined with a few stolen phrases from JFK, Reagan, Truman, maybe even Ike, since Ike is in the news. My guess is that he’ll start off reminding everybody who he is–the Great and Powerful Oz. No, wait. Wrong movie. Back to The Manchurian Candidate. Ha! I don’t know when he’ll bloviate, either, but since O’Reilly now carries his water for him, perhaps right before “The Factor” so Bill can appropriately kiss his bum some more. Did you hear Bill’s talking point of the day on radio? It was all about how EVERYBODY should be on the side of this intervention otherwise they MUST BE for standing by as Americans and watching Qaddafi slaughter his people. Hey, Bill: inconsistent. By that standard, Barry should have SUPPORTED the Iraq intervention, seeing as how Saddam, among the few in history, used chemical weapons on his own people, slaughtering thousands whose bodies were readily apparent to all, unlike the “saved lives” in Libya that nobody can prove. You can’t prove you stopped something that never happened. But then, again, being the messiah–perhaps Barry is able to see ALL that “has not yet come to pass”–as if he’s looking into the Mirror of Galadriel, like Frodo in The Lord of the Rings. Ya think? All seeing, all knowing, Barry sees the future and acts to stop it. Gee, that reminds me of Minority Report, yet another movie. Movies on the mind today.

    • “Look Deep Into My Eyes”: Experts Agree Obama Using NLP
      (NLP = Neuro-Linguistic Programming)
      January 25, 2009

Just in case anyone thinks that the reports of our new President Barack Hussein Obama using 70’s style-mass-hypnosis techniques on his audiences are overblown, I came across a series of Barack Obama videos on an NLP training site. Apparently the experts agree not only that he’s using it, but that he does it so well they can use his techniques to train others.

      • Wow! Thanks for that. “Buyer” beware. You’re being sold a RED bill of goods.

      • There is an additional spin no one has looked into also. The studies on mind control and programming of those put under during surgery, etc…

      • Hi, I’m new here. Saw the link to this site at citizenwells and this comment caught my attention. I’ve wondered why no one ever talks about Obama using NLP. Here’s an interesting video from Oct 2008. It sure answers a lot of questions as to why so many people voted for him, don’t ya think?
Paper: Obama Clearly Using Covert Hypnosis Methods ……..

        • Hi Jonah and welcome. We have discussed this alot. Remember when the Euro newspapers kept covering this topic before and during the elections ?

          • Thanks for the welcome. I like what I see here so I’ll be visiting often. Must tell you my name is misleading. I’m female; a wife, mother and grandmother.

        • Welcome, Jonah. We’ve discussed his use of NLP frequently, going way back to when we hung out at another blog, before he insinuated himself into the WH. Thanks for the video.

    • Whoops. As predicted, American Thinker is on it:
      http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2011/03/obamas_libya_speech_reverb_wat.html

His address to the nation “will be delivered at the National Defense University, presumably from behind a podium, in front of an audience. President Obama prefers conspicuous reverb, giving his voice a god-like quality, so the extent of the reverb will be an indication of his desperation..”

And so he can plant enough minions in the audience so they can cheer and holler their approval, which would be quite a switch for students. I wonder if that auditorium has a jumbotron so they can flash the signals for applause (maybe even groans, hisses, and boos when he compares himself to GWB).

  5. It is not Libya.
This is the relevant information, has to happen before obama is gone:

Iranian Video Says Mahdi is ‘Near’
    By Erick Stakelbeck
    CBN News Terrorism Analyst
    Monday, March 28, 2011

New evidence has emerged that the Iranian government sees the current unrest in the Middle East as a signal that the Mahdi–or Islamic messiah–is about to appear.

CBN News has obtained a never-before-seen video produced by the Iranian regime that says all the signs are moving into place — and that Iran will soon help usher in the end times.

While the revolutionary movements gripping the Middle East have created uncertainty throughout the region, the video shows that the Iranian regime believes the chaos is divine proof that their ultimate victory is at hand.

    ‘The Coming is Near’

The propaganda footage has reportedly been approved at the highest levels of the Iranian government.

It’s called The Coming is Near and it describes current events in the Middle East as a prelude to the arrival of the mythical twelfth Imam or Mahdi — the messiah figure who Islamic scriptures say will lead the armies of Islam to victory over all non-Muslims in the last days.

“This video has been produced by a group called the Conductors of the Coming, in connection with the Basiji — the Iranian paramilitary force, and in collaboration with the Iranian president’s office,” said Reza Kahlil, a former member of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards who shared the video with CBN News.

Kahlili, author of the book, A Time to Betray, worked as a double agent for the CIA inside the Iranian regime. “Just a few weeks ago, Ahmadenijad’s office screened this movie with much excitement for the clerics,” Kahlili told CBN News. “The target audience is Muslims in the Middle East and around the world.”

To watch the video in its entirety, visit Kahlili’s website.

The video claims that Iran is destined to rise as a great power in the last days to help defeat America and Israel and usher in the return of the Mahdi. And it makes clear the Iranians believe that time is fast approaching.

“The Hadith have clearly described the events and the various transformations of countries in the Middle East and also that of Iran in the age of the coming,” said a narrator, who went on to say that America’s invasion of Iraq was foretold by Islamic scripture–and that the Mahdi will one day soon rule the world from Iraq.

    Other ‘Prophetic’ Signs

The ongoing upheavals in other Middle Eastern countries like Yemen and Egypt–including the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood — are also analyzed as prophetic signs that the Mahdi is near — so is the current poor health of the king of Saudi Arabia, an Iranian rival.
“Isn’t the presence of Abdullah, his illness, and his uncertain condition, great news for those anxious for the coming?” asks the narrator.

Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Khameini, and Hassan Nasrallah, leader of Iran’s terrorist proxy Hezbollah, are hailed as pivotal end times players, whose rise was predicted in Islamic scriptures.
The same goes for Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadenijad, who the video says will conquer Jerusalem prior to the Mahdi’s coming.

“I think it’s a very grave development,” Mideast expert Joel Rosenberg, author of The Twelfth Imam, told CBN News, “because it gives you a window into the thinking of the Iranian leadership: that they believe the time for war with Israel may be even sooner than others had imagined.”

Kahlili says The Coming is Near will soon be distributed by the Iranian regime throughout the Middle East. He explained that their goal is to instigate further uprisings in Arab countries.

    • I just posted this too Dave m…scary scenerio planned… for those that believe. It is not enough to ask “Is this for real ?” Those that believe it is real are what scares me.
The mind is it’s own place you know…it can make a heaven a hell and a hell a heaven and all of that….you know how that old saying goes.
      Very twisted…

  6. It’s being said that the Libyan military struck a deal with the Muslim Brotherhood, because “their time has come,” in which the military structure and apparatus stays the same but the MB gets its chance in the election. It’s also said this deal was approved by Barry. Mubarak goes into exile, with all his dough and family intact. He won’t be arrested. It will become an Islamic state. You can bet on that. What then for Israel? Supposedly Egypt will cede land in some kind of peace deal with the Palestinians and Israel. But some say it’s the end of Egypt as a country altogether. What will come will be a huge mega-country, the beginning of the Caliphate. The new Evil Empire that will war with the West.

  7. Most online comments on this are making fun of it or calling it fear mongering. They say it is not a real problem as the M.E. countries cannot get along well enough for this to happen.
    ttp://www.conspiracy.me/?p=40945
There is a map here I think.

    • It occured to me that possibly somebody’s alternate plan is to turn them all back into warring tribes so they fight each other and not us. But I can’t see that coming from this bunch.

This would certainly be extremely risky because it lets the proverbial genie out of the bottle with no clue what will happen next. Unorganized chaos? I can think of some that would enjoy such a result so they can waltz in and take power.

This administration seems like trying to herd cats. Nobody really in charge. Talking out of all sides of their mouths. Glenn Beck just said on radio that some Barry spokesperson said they haven’t ruled out ARMING the Libyan rebels to make sure they evict Gaddafi. Now didn’t Barry just say last night that we’re out of there? We have no more command and control? NATO’s running all? And we’re not going for regime change? So which is it?

I got it: Tell We the People one thing and do the opposite. So long as we “buy the story.” But we ain’t buying.

  8. Obama is reading his teleprompter and is standing in front of a navy curtain (not the ugly gold one) flanked by two US flags, not the presidential flag. Oops, he tried to look straight into the camera for a second or two. Otherwise, his head is going back and forth, purple lips moving, using hands for emphasis. Here he is talking to the American people and his head moves back and forth, left and right, left and right. He is now using the pointing technique.

His purple lips are moving and I have him on mute.

  9. He did not address the time frame, costs involved for the taxpayers, an exit strategy, Al Queda, oil, knowing the rebels, setting up a new government and he lied about consulting with Congress. It appears it was the normal waste of time. The analysts said he was trying to answer the criticisms from both the right and left. He was supposed to be addressing the people of the US, but he needed an audience.

    For your reading pleasure.

    • Thanks. That was fast! He wants to “update” us. He hasn’t “dated” us yet. Update on what? This is the first he’s said to explain himself.

“countless lives have been saved”. He’s right about that–countless. Nobody can count the dead who are still living yet might have been dead but might not have been.

As you predicted, Bridgette: Mentions he’s Commander in Chief in paragraph two!

Gaddafi (spelling of the day number 2) compared his people to rats; Obama compares us to enemies.

He did not consult Congress; he informed some of them of what he was going to do. Not with their authorization; not with their consent.

Can anyone imagine what this means? “I am convinced that a failure to act in Libya would have carried a far greater price for America.” What far greater price?

Ah, yes. Brought up Iraq and how “regime change” was a mistake. Must slam GWB and point out his own obvious brilliance and superiority.

A second reminder that he’s Commander in Chief.

There will be times, though, when our safety is not directly threatened [please everyone refer back to his anti-war speech about Saddam not being a threat to us; hypocrisy], but our interests and values are. Sometimes, the course of history poses challenges that threaten our common humanity and common security – responding to natural disasters, for example; or preventing genocide and keeping the peace; ensuring regional security, and maintaining the flow of commerce. These may not be America’s problems alone, but they are important to us, and they are problems worth solving. And in these circumstances, we know that the United States, as the world’s most powerful nation, will often be called upon to help.”

Yes, and wasn’t one of those times when Saddam was gassing 5000 people with chemical weapons and threatening our pilots, regional peace and security, as well as the flow of commerce? But that was a DUMB WAR.

The change in Egypt is going to inspire us? We’ll examine that inspiration in a few months, when the Muslim Brotherhood takes over.

Hmmmm. Is the North Star that star one sees on the Islamic crescent? Anybody know?

      • Northstar Islam is on Facebook. Is that a good enough clue?

        • So I figured. He simply CANNOT make an appearance without sending one of his subliminal symbolic messages to his people. I thought as much. That is a more than adequate clue.

          • Found this: “What was the angel telling him to read? Read Allah’s creation! Read the sunrise; read the world! … There were slaves that couldn’t read, but they could read the north star, to keep the star in front of them as they walked to freedom!” Brother Shaheed Bilal, Head of the Education Committee, The Masjid al-Nur of al-Islam, affiliate of the ministry of W. D. Muhammad (son of Elijah Muhammad), in a “mid-sized city in the Carolinas” according to the book, New media in the Muslim world: the emerging public sphere. In other words, black Muslims in America.

  10. i didnt see it but i was listening to savage who was playing it and talking over it. as usual, savage wasnt buying any of it.

  11. Obama’s Not Just Bombing Libya: The Main Course Speech That Felt More Like an Appetizer
Obama: Wherever people long to be free, they will find a friend in the United States. Except in Syria. And in Iran. And in…
Monday, March 28th at 9:38PM EDT snips

You might have heard that President Obama (finally) gave a speech about the shelling of Libya he ordered well over a week ago. Or, you might not have; he’s been trying pretty hard to keep our involvement in it out of the public eye, despite the US having the leading role in every phase of this “kinetic military action” except (1) decision-making, and (2) actually talking publicly about what the heck it is that we’re doing there.

What I did see was a very poor effort at communicating by a man who resented having to lower himself to even appearing to explain his actions and decisions to the American people, who has no clear thoughts whatsoever on what we’re doing in LIbya, who is so honored that Europe asked his military (the only one worth its salt across the board in the Western world) to go to war to protect its own oil interests, and who has no understanding whatsoever of the world outside his own Ivy-covered Ivory Tower.

  12. The insanity continues:
    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110329/ap_on_bi_ge/libya_diplomacy

NOW, after Barry says the goal is not to remove Gaddafi, and after some say that they’re talking about arming the rebels, the powers-that-now-be say the opposite. Gaddafi must go and they’re not arming rebels, but the Arabs want them to. Of course THEY want arms. Especially free ones from us. Heretofore, the Arabs had to BUY them. So they’re going to waffle and quibble and maybe will arm and maybe will not arm and maybe Gaddafi must go and maybe not. I’ve heard that they are planning to let him go into exile and not be prosecuted anywhere. This is what you get when progressives run a war. And they ridiculed GWB and Rummy.

  13. Check out how this kinetic military humanitarian action is winding down: http://gretawire.blogs.foxnews.com/update-from-the-pentagon-here-is-what-has-happened-in-last-24-hours/

“Update from the Pentagon…here is what has happened in last 24 hours
    Greta Van Susteren | March 29, 2011 3:25 PM …

    Subject: In Urgent: LIBYA UPDATE

22 Tomahawk missiles fired in last 24 hours

214 total Tomahawks have been fired throughout the mission, only 7 of those come from Coalition partners.

-Also 115 strike sorties have been flown in the last 24 hours.

-In total the coalition has flown 850 strike sorties, 422 of them US, 428 of them Coalition partners.

-This is important because for the first time the total number of strike sorties conducted by partners is now greater than that of the U.S. As noted earlier- the U.S. has launched nearly all of the Tomahawks.”

So is that 22 million more bucks worth of Tomahawks in the past 24 hours? Do we have any left or will Barry keep throwing them into the sand in the desert until they’re all gone?

  14. In regard to Obama’s laughable claims about what constitutes a “real leader” (himself versus GWB) and how a real leader gets a multilateral coalition so the US doesn’t have to do all the work, take all the risk, and pay for all, here are some stats:

GWB’s Iraq coalition: 48 countries, 40 contributing manpower and weaponry

Barry’s Libya coalition: 15 countries, 10 contributing manpower and weaponry

The Gulf War and Afghanistan War also had many more coalition partners: 34 and 42, depending upon the source, versus
Barry’s pitiful 15, with only 10 providing military support. So who’s paying now?

  15. A fun factoid: Obama’s speech was coordinated with Dancing with the Stars, lest the programs conflict and people watch the dancers WITH the stars instead of That One dancing as fast as he can under the North Star.

    Is someone’s star fading?

    • he looked like a reptile and slithered at every twissssssssssst and turn
~ most transparent empty suit contradicting his contradictions live.

      he’s dangerous

you can read him like a Bill Ayres book.

i read somewhere Jimmy and Roz are going to Cuba real soon. they are going scheme with Raul. wonder where the Dorhns’ will be. hmmmmm

      • I even heard THAT reported on the lamestream today–that Bill Ayers said that he wrote Barry’s book. And Barry’s fixin’ to announce another run? Best reconsider.

  16. “end game” ?

its all contrived. they are just getting started.

its a game to them and we are the prize.

  17. I suspect he has known all along. Either that or we have been wickedly set up.

  18. Obama’s Libya address ratings down from previous speeches
    Tuesday, March 29, 2011

President Obama’s speech viewership keeps on slipping. Monday night’s policy address on Libya delivered 25.6 million viewers, continuing the president’s trend of declining ratings for his issue-oriented telecasts.

The speech was down 12% from Obama’s address on Iraq last August (29.2 million), which fell 9% from his speech on the Gulf Coast oil spill in June (32.1 million), which in turn dropped 21% from his Afghanistan speech back in December of 2009 (40.8 million).

Last night’s address could have been dinged by starting slightly before primetime, at 7:30 p.m. (which also kept Obama from making ABC choose between the commander-in-chief and airing Dancing With the Stars at its usual time).

The president’s telecast was carried across eight networks, including ABC, CBS, NBC, TEL, CNN, CNBC, Fox News, and MSNBC.

    http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/03/29/obama-libya-address-ratings/

    • The United States enters 2011 with a population of more than 310.5 million people, according to a U.S. Census Bureau estimate.

If I calculated correctly, 8% of the population of the US tuned into O. The other 92% were enjoying their dinners or doing something else more important.

Color me embarrassed if my numbers are incorrect. I wonder what it cost the 8 networks to let him talk?

      • I’d love to know the percentage of the population that made a determined effort to AVOID seeing ANY part of his speech.

    • Down, even after they made sure to avoid a conflict with Dancing with the Stars! It wasn’t on PBS?

      • I think it was on PB S. I clicked on all the local channels trying to find one where his face wasn’t showing and that would cover PBS as I went through my favorites.

I am sorry that I added to the 8% by keeping him on mute.

  19. I’m into stats today! How low can it go?

Survey: Obama’s approval rating at all-time low 42 percent
    Wednesday, March 30, 2011

President Obama’s approval rating has hit an all-time low, according to a new poll from Quinnipiac University. The survey measured Obama’s approval at just 42 percent, with 48 percent of voters disapproving of the job he’s doing in office.

Fifty percent (50%) of voters surveyed believe the president does not deserve election to a second term next year — just 41 percent said he does. The 42 percent approval number marks a four percentage-point drop over the past month.

Obama is now in a dead heat with a generic Republican challenger, trailing an unamed Republican in a hypothetical 2012 match-up 36 percent to 37 percent.

“President Barack Obama’s approval numbers are at their lowest level ever! [My exclamation point!!]

    http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/polls/152649-poll-obama-approval-at-all-time-low

    • Brown pointed to Obama’s overall negatives on the deficit, economy, foreign policy and healthcare as driving up his disapproval numbers

The poll also gave Obama negative ratings on the military action in Libya. Overall, voters oppose the nation’s involvement in Libya — 47 percent to 41 percent — and a full 58 percent said Obama has not clearly articulated the goal of U.S. involvement.

      • It sounds like Barry has lost the confidence of his own people and so, by his own standards, he’s lost legitimacy (that he never had) and so MUST GO!

“Go away and NEVER come back!” Gollum to Smeagol (himself).

  20. What you won’t hear from this campaign or this party is the kind of politics that uses religion as a wedge, and patriotism as a bludgeon — that sees our opponents not as competitors to challenge, but enemies to demonize.”

    Barack Obama, June 3, 2008

“I always use the word extreme,
that’s what the caucus instructed me to do…”

Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer, Tuesday March 29, 2011

  21. ABC News:

Despite Obama’s public professions on religion and spirituality, many Americans continue to doubt the president’s faith.

Nearly one in five Americans incorrectly believes that Obama is a Muslim, according to a poll by the nonpartisan Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life released late last year.

The poll found the number surveyed who knew correctly that Obama is Christian actually declined, from 48 percent in March 2009 to 34 percent in August 2010. Forty-three percent of Americans now say they don’t know what Obama’s religion is at all.

Obama has never publicly confessed what is described in Romans 10:9-10. Obama has never publicly confessed, “Jesus Christ is Lord, and I believe in my heart that God has raised Him from the dead”.

Obama has publicly confessed the Islamic confession of faith, the Shahada, which are the opening lines of the call to prayer. He did so in Arabic. A single honest recitation of the Shahada in Arabic is all that is required for a person to become a Muslim.

So, by the confessions of Obama’s own mouth, we have more reason to believe that he is a Muslim than a Christian.

Obama knows what publicly confessing the Shahada in Arabic means to the Muslim world. When will ABC News ask Obama why he did so?

When will ABC News ask Obama why he

publicly confessed the Islamic confession of faith in Arabic

knowing that the Muslim world would interpret it as an indication that he is a Muslim?

  22. I don’t post here often, but I do read your blog a lot. I was wondering if anybody noticed that when Donald Trump released his birth certificate-and it was originally only his hospital issued COLB, several lib bloggers (like Ben Smith at Politico) instantly said that it was only a COLB, and therefore not legal? It was funny, because they have previously (about Obama) said it was the same thing. So now Trump has released the long form.
Also, on a blog called Jeffersonsrebels.blogspot, there was a good article about what constitutes a NBC based upon the writings of the man who wrote it.

    • Thanks jd. Don’t be a stranger. Join in the conversation anytime!

Yes, we noticed the two different BC’s that Trump offered to prove he is eligible and an NBC. Will check out Jefferson rebels too.

  23. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/could-samantha-power-mrs-cass-sunstein-be-the-next-secretary-of-state/

Samantha Power — a.k.a. Mrs. Cass Sunstein — may be expanding her influential role inside the Obama White House.

Since the New York Times ran an in-depth profile of Power ran last week, rumors have circulated she may step into a much more public role as the next secretary of state or national security advisor. Highlighting Powers’ Irish heritage, Irish Central predicts that Powers could fill the position of America’s top diplomat if President Obama secures a second term, with Hillary Clinton due to step down.

She has been the main architect, along with Hillary Clinton, of the Libya policy
and has an increasing influence in the White House inner circle. No Irish-born person in recent history has had such influence on a president. Power, now 40, moved to the US from Ireland at age 10. …

Power, who is one of Obama’s key advisers on foreign policy, insisted that Libya was not going to be the main topic of conversation.

  24. Obama losing the Saudis?
April 7, 2011 by Ed Morrissey Snips

After remarking on the difficulty of establishing democracy in the Middle East, Brokaw said that Defense Secretary Robert Gates “will face some tough questions in this region about the American intentions going on now with all this new turmoil, especially in an area where the United States has such big stakes politically and economically.”

“And a lot of those questions presumably will come from King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia,” reported Brokaw on the Nightly News. “I was told on the way in here that the Saudis are so unhappy with the Obama administration for the way it pushed out President Mubarak of Egypt that it sent high level emissaries to China and Russia to tell those two countries that Saudi Arabia now is prepared to do more business with them.

    http://hotair.com/archives/2011/04/07/obama-losing-the-saudis/

    • This is all we need…to lose another country and have them ally with China or Russia! Another country unhappy with the Messiah? Gosh, Obama was the world savior and what a heck of a job he is doing.. the world is on fire and he started it with his apology speech in Cairo, then helping bring down Egypt’s president, and furthering it in Libya. Give him another Nobel!
