Bad News On the Rise?

by Miri

Some bad news, and I mean that literally. BAD news coming.

AOL has purchased Huffington Post and Arianna, as editor-in-chief, will control the content of this new AOL mega-media operation. She claims her ideology will not affect how AOL publishes whatever the hell she’s going to decide to publish. My guess: Full out support of Obama for 2012. AOL as Barry’s Pravda. Ya think?

Just think about it: What a platform for the progressives! Every person who uses AOL as a homepage will be hit every day, when they log on, with Arianna’s warped POV. Check this out:

“As part of the transaction, Arianna Huffington, The Huffington Post’s Co-founder and Editor-in-Chief, will be named President and Editor-in-Chief of The Huffington Post Media Group, which will integrate all Huffington Post and AOL content, including Engadget, TechCrunch, Moviefone, MapQuest, Black Voices, PopEater, AOL Music, AOL Latino, AutoBlog, Patch, StyleList, and more.

The Huffington Post over-indexes on educated, affluent users, reaching the key decision makers in C-suites around the globe. The Huffington Post speaks to this influential audience via a host of prominent voices on its group blog.

Among those who have blogged on The Huffington Post are: President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Larry Page, Diane Sawyer, Buzz Aldrin, Nora Ephron, Bill Maher, Madeleine Albright, Robert Redford, Katie Couric, Neil Young, Rahm Emanuel, Mia Farrow, Senator Russ Feingold, Senator Al Franken, Ari Emanuel, Harry Shearer, Senator John Kerry, Representative Nancy Pelosi, Madonna, Lawrence Summers, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ryan Reynolds, Craig Newmark, Alec Baldwin, Aaron Sorkin, Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson, Russell Simmons, Sean Penn, Bill Gates, Norman Lear, Charlie Rose, Elizabeth Warren, Tavis Smiley, Sheryl Sandberg, George Clooney, and former President Bill Clinton.”

Look over that list and tell us what’s missing. Reliably CONSERVATIVE VOICES.  But this new, huge enterprise will include “black” and “Latino” voices.  Most certainly, because these are important factions of the leftist base–those groups which will always be exploited and used, but never really helped, by elites the likes of those listed above.

At this link, you’ll see Arianna with her new krewe.  What’s missing there?  Women (besides Arianna) and “seasoned citizens,” (if you subtract Arianna and the one gray-haired fellow on the left.

The New York Times tells us, “By handing so much control over to Ms. Huffington and making her a public face of the company, AOL, which has been seen as apolitical, risks losing its nonpartisan image. Ms. Huffington said her politics would have no bearing on how she ran the new business.”

I can’t imagine who has categorized AOL as “apolitical” in the past, unless of course progressives themselves, who consider leftist, progressive, biased media as normative, because all conservative thought is deranged, in their opinion.  Angry and deranged.  It’s a matter of faith for them.

However, it’s also par for the course that MOST in the lamestream media believe that they’re nonpartisan reporters of fact.  They excoriate FOX News, which features progressive-minded journalists but also an equal number of conservative voices, which goes to show how the lamestream truly defines “unbiased” and “fair” and “balanced.”  No contrary opinions allowed.  Group think or no think.  My way or the highway.

This bad news is not good news for the news media.  But it will be, imho, good news for Barry, Soros, and all their minions.  Certainly great news for Arianna.  Will she pay her “fair share” of taxes, now that she’s even wealthier than before?  Somehow, I think not.   Somehow I think that Arianna will find tax shelters.  When Barry wants to “soak the rich,” he’s not talking about the likes of Arianna Huffington.

  1. Miri, Maybe we should put up a for sale sign too ! We could offer a great price too ! Say ummm…250 million maybe ? LOL !

    • I think AOL is offering Obama a part time job as MAILMAN. God, can you imagine everyday when you log on now and … get the…..”YOU HAVE MAIL” there he’ll be hand delivering (or spoon feeding) some sucker information on his other part time job. Yeeksh!!!!!

  2. Oh, right. Good idea. We have to start somewhere. 🙂

I think Arianna had some BIG people (Soros?) behind her. Remember her switcheroo? She used to be (ahem) conservative. Suddenly, she’s left of the left. I’m not expecting much from her. Are you? I think people better be prepared to vote with their feet if AOL becomes the All-Obama-Loving media.

  3. Yeah, just right , Freedom for sell. Screw Arianna Huffington, the french son-of a -bitch. What has she to do with American freedom, freedom of speech, freedom of personal responsibilitly, freedom of living our lives day to day as we se fit. F—- to go fishing when we want to. Freedom to vote when we want too. Freedom to vote for whom we choose. Freedom to ignore a blog page that is contradictory to the original declaration of independence, freedom to ignore the American Constitution. Freedom to ignore Arianna Huffinton. Screw Arianna Huffington. She isn’t worth mentioning. So why do I [mention her] because she just chaffs my ass.

  4. I used to have big hair like that!

  5. Rosemary Woodhouse

@ Miri – The woman in charge of Huff Po is a Puffed up Ho. She was conservative when it suited her purposes. She is nothing more than a social climbing opportunist.

  6. Rosemary Woodhouse

    @ skeeter- she’s not French. She’s Greek.

Skeeter, do you post by another name elsewhere? Your posts remind me of someone else’s at another blog.

  7. Olbermann is landing with a thud at Al Gore’s online/TV station (CurrentTV) where he’s going to be the “chief news officer” and have a “news” and “commentary” show every night, as if anybody’s going to watch. I’m sure the “news” will be more commentary than ever. I tried to watch something on MSNBC last night, while surfing. I couldn’t believe that there appears to be no change in their trajectory. The entire focus of this ranting host’s meme was the “false” belief by 25% of Americans and nearly 50% of Republicans that Barry’s a Muslim. That wasn’t all of it, though. He spent most of the segment trying to make his bogus point that it’s FOX News’s fault that so many people believe Barry’s Muslim. He went way back to that fist bump episode between Barry and MO that got one of the FOX people fired. But he totally ignored ALL the evidence that’s clearly there for any thinking person to see: Barry’s favoritism towards Muslims, his “justice” dept.’s looking the other way concerning jihadis here (Hasan, e.g.), his refusal to give his daughters birthday and Christmas gifts, his dragging his feet about getting a dog, has anybody ever seen him eat bacon? The list goes on and on. Besides which, Barry said to George Stephanopoulis, “MY MUSLIM FAITH.” But none of the evidence that people see every day can explain it. The explanation MUST BE that FOX News implants ideas in the brains of all those little people who can’t think for themselves–We the People who cling to our guns, religion and xenophobia. Bottom line, if I get the guy’s point, FOX represents evil propaganda, so for the good of the country, it ought to be shut down.

  8. This is so funny. Progressives fear that Arianna “sold out” fellow progressives. Well, she does have that history. Flip, flop. Flip, flop. Once a turncoat, always a turncoat.

Egypt nears military coup. USS warships in Suez Canal
    DEBKAfile Exclusive Report February 8, 2011, 11:20 PM (GMT+02:00)

A fresh surge of popular anti-Mubarak protest ripping across Egypt Tuesday, Feb. 8 has brought the country closer to a military coup to stem the anarchy than at any time since the street caught fire on Jan. 25.

Vice President Omar Suleiman warned a group of Egyptian news editors that the only choice is between a descent into further lawlessness and a military takeover in Cairo. The distinguished political pundit of the 1960s and 1970s Hasnin Heikal saw no other way out of the crisis but a government ruling by the army’s bayonets.

The arrival of US naval, marine and air forces in the Suez Canal’s Greater Bitter Lake indicated that the crisis was quickly swerving out of control.

debkafile’s military sources report that the American force consists of the USS Kearsarge Expeditionary Strike Group of six warships. Helicopters on some of their decks are there to carry and drop the 2,200 marines of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit which has been bolstered by two special operations battalions.

The flotilla has a rapid strike stealth submarine, the USS Scranton, which is designed to support special forces’ operations.

The US strike force has taken up position at a strategic point opposite Ismailia between the west bank of the Suez Canal and its eastern Sinai bank. It is poised for rapid response in the event of the passage of about 40 percent of the world’s marine freights through the Suez Canal being threatened or any other extreme occurrence warranting US military intervention.

For a few hours Tuesday, it looked as though Egypt was finally going back to normal after a two-week popular uprising. But then, suddenly, thousands again took to the streets and squares of Egyptian towns – from the Western desert on the Libyan border up to the northern Sinai town of El Arish in the east, recalling Hosni Mubarak’s warning of chaos if he were to depart too soon.

They mounted their biggest demonstration of the campaign to oust Mubarak – in Cairo, Alexandria, the Delta Cities, the industrial belt around Mahalla-el-Kebir and the steel city of Heluan, shouting “Death to Mubarak!” and “Hang Mubarak!”
Although reforms and pay hikes have been pledged by the new Egyptian government, large groups of workers, mainly in Cairo, rebelled against state-appointed managements and set up “Revolutionary Committees” to run factories and other work places, including Egyptian state TV and Egypt’s biggest weekly “Ros el-Yusuf.”

The stock market and the pyramids remained closed and traffic blocked solid on the streets of Cairo.

  10. I don’t have any idea if it’s the same guy but we have a Skeeter over at chronwatch-america on their blog.

  11. This is unbelievable. The value of AOL stock decreased by the exact amount that AOL spent to buy Huffpo. What a deal for the poor stockholders:

    • I told ya….as wonderful of a brainy idea as New Coke was(NOT)
Now watch them loose customers thisfast if rates are raised to cover their loss-dumb idea…a bad idea at the least, a huge business boo boo at best…Stock holders will soon be asking someone to resign I bet too…who was the brainchild of this oopsie ? they may need to update their resume ASAP…

There’s some bad new for US Weekly. They picked up a spoof and reported it as truth. Well, considering that the spoof played into their preconceived biased opinion of Sarah Palin, it’s easy to understand why they wouldn’t notice immediately that it IS satire. They truly do think Sarah is a bigoted xenophobe who’s too stupid to know that Christina Aguilera is an American citizen, so when they read that spoof, they believed it to be true. More fool they.
