Glenn Beck’s Rally, “Restoring Honor” Washington, D.C.

Glenn Beck knew that the media will under-report those in attendance, so he showed the photo above on his show. He also intends to take a real count and would tell how that was being done on Saturday.  Additionally,  they did not issue any Press passes!  Why have them there since they wouldn’t report with any accuracy!   No doubt they will be in the audience, but they will be treated equally.

The center strip, leading to the reflecting pool, holds about 200,000 people. He said that was the person count for MLK’s, “I Have a Dream” speech.  The open grassy area to the left, will hold another 150,000 patriots.

The information about C-Span was reported on Free Republic, I don’t know if it is true.  When I checked Glenn’s site, he had only stated that Facebook would be streaming live.

C-SPAN will be covering Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally at the Lincoln Memorial this Saturday, with Sarah Palin among those expected to attend. Coverage begins 10:00 a.m. ET.

In case you are interested, C-SPAN also will cover Rev. Al Sharpton’s “Reclaim the Dream” rally at Dunbar High School in Washington, DC. That event will be shown on C-SPAN later on Saturday.

If you recall they were the ones that intimidated voters in Philadelphia, and one of their “esteemed members” called whites, “Crackers, and suggested that all white babies should be killed.

          When you attend a rally, do you hope for violent people to attend, in order to be sure there’s adequate inclusiveness, in the form of criminals as well as law-abiding people being represented?

  5. The representative for the Yuchi tribe said that “Honor is like a precious stone.” Honor is keeping one’s word or keeping one’s promise. It is well known among his tribe that one must always go forward, never look back.

    A member of the Yuchi tribe introduced Pastor C. L. Jackson, Pleasant Grove Miissionary Baptist Church, Houston, TX, who is given the first Medal of Honor for Faith. The black pastor rode and walked with MLK to Washington for MLK’s, “I Have a Dream” speech.

    The Yuchi, also spelled Euchee and Uchee, are a Native American Indian tribe who traditionally lived in the eastern Tennessee River valley in Tennessee in the 16th century. During the 17th century, they moved south to Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina.[2][1] After suffering many fatalities due to epidemic disease and warfare in the eighteenth century, surviving Yuchi were removed to Indian Territory in the 1830s, together with their allies the Muscogee Creek. Some remnant groups migrated to Florida, where they became part of the recently formed Seminole tribe.

    Today the Yuchi live primarily in the northeastern Oklahoma area, where many are enrolled as citizens in the federally recognized Muscogee Creek Nation. Some Yuchi are enrolled as members of other federally recognized tribes, such as the Absentee Shawnee Tribe and the Cherokee Nation.

    Yuchi is commonly interpreted to mean “over there sit/live” or “situated yonder.” Their autonym, or name for themselves, is Coyaha or Tsoyaha, meaning “Children of the Sun.” The Shawnee call them Tahokale, and the Cherokee call them Aniyutsi.[3]

    Jon Meade Huntsman, Sr. (born 1937) is an American businessman and philanthropist. He is the founder of Huntsman Corporation. He is the father of current United States Ambassador to China and former Governor of Utah Jon Huntsman Jr.

    One of his most notable causes is the Huntsman Cancer Institute, of which Mr. Huntsman is Founder and principal benefactor. Mr. Huntsman and his wife, Karen, founded the Huntsman Cancer Institute in 1995 to accelerate the work of curing cancer through human genetics. The Institute is now one of America’s major cancer research centers dedicated to finding a cure for cancer with a state-of-the-art cancer specialty hospital. The HCI building holds this quote “Selfless giving unto others represents one’s true wealth.”,_Sr.

    Dave Reever, Viet Nam vet. A phosphorus grenade went off in his hands. His face was left in a pillow when he tried to cover his screams from the pain while in the hospital. He was disfigured terribly from his ordeal. God Bless You for you rule our nation.

It was a huge coming together of patriots and lovers of America. We appreciate all those that spoke for freedom, liberty and upholding our principles.   16. What a great moment in time !!! Thanks Bridgette, for outlining this remarkable coming together of our patriots! I cried most of the way thru it, not only by the words spoken, but the thought of all great Americans there in DC and around the nation were feeling those same thoughts in their hearts! Glenn Beck is a true and faithful servant and God will surely bless his life. My sis and bro-in-law were there with his fellow VietNam group who had planned this trip a year ago before knowing of 8/28 gathering. I am soooo grateful that acknowledgment of their sacrifice was shared to all who were listening! (Hope they bring home videos)

    Thanks to all the great patriots here at We the People for the sacrifice and persistence in keeping us all well informed and inspired so that our light will shine on the problems that abound and cause US to regain that “shining city on a hill”!

  21. I can’t stop laughing, folks ! Unbelievable junk! For the first time in over 2 years, I watched the 1st part of CBS news just for their reaction to 8/28, and there was no surprise! Their count is 87,000 !!! LOL And they called Beck the ringmaster ! Looked at yahoo news earlier, they are also reporting tens of thousands and even had one article stating that Beck was borrowing some of O’s speech lines !!!!!! LMBO !!!!!! They can’t handle the truth !

    The purpose of this rally is to try to unite the secular and religious right of the last decades of the 20th century to attack the first African American president in U.S. history and the first President since the 1960s who was identified with progressive policies. The political themes of this march are in reality much closer to the Klu Klux Klan march on Washington in 1924 during the Coolidge administration(Coolidge made sure to leave town so as not to be seen as for or anti-Klan).

    It is easy to laugh at Beck, Palin and their Tea bagger friends, the way German intellectuals and large numbers of urban Germans laughed at the Nazis in the 1920s. It is easy to use reason and to refute them.

    But they are not about logic and reason, but emotion, fear, and hatred. And they use the American flag and their disreputable definitions of “Americanism” to advance political agendas which can only lead to catastrophe for the American people–that is, a restoration of the Reagan-Bush policies at a time when such policies can only lead to economic and social breakdown.

    But we can’t wait for the Obama administration, liberals and Democrats, to fight back against these forces. We must begin as a left that is a vital part of this country to do with Communists especially did in the late 1930s–to take the flag away from reactionaries and fascists by identifying ourselves and our ideas with the democratic, egalitarian values and accomplishments, from Roger Williams to Martin Luther King, that is “our America” internationalist and pluralist culturally, an America represented by its working people building cooperatively a great civilization.

    A curious thing has been happening on Google Maps — the Lincoln Memorial is being misplaced in favor of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, which is a good half a mile south of the more famous memorial.

    Is this a Google Maps glitch, or could this have anything to do with the fact that conservative radio and TV host Glenn Beck is holding a controversial “non-political” rally at the Lincoln Memorial on Saturday?

    If the misplacement of the Lincoln Memorial on Google Maps is, in fact, an example of Google censoring search results, then it’s not the first time.

    As the Geographic Travels blog points out, this is probably not so much an attempt to have nobody show up for the rally (after all, the Roosevelt Memorial is only a half a mile from the Lincoln Memorial–if the estimated 300,000 people show up, there’s no doubt that you’ll be able to see the crowd from the Roosevelt Memorial), but more an attempt to show Glenn Beck who’s boss (of the search engines).

    Those 669,838 views were just those who watched live on Facebook/USTREAM, and does not include those who have watched it on C-SPAN live TV, nor those who watched it on C-SPAN’s web site.

    Add in the 300,000 to 500,000+ who were there in person, and well over 1 Million people watched this event live.

    In our household, we had 5 people watching the USTREAM feed, so if the average number of people watching the USTREAM feed was 3 people per view, then those 669,838 views probably means that over 2 Million people watched the USTREAM feed alone.

    Since the C-SPAN video is still available on their web site, new people will continue to go there and watch it.

    Millions have already been impacted, and millions more will be impacted as time goes on.

  28. I don’t know how to describe what I felt, except awesome. My son took off work from his business, he owns a small business, and he and I flew from California to D.C. to attend this rally. It was more then I expected and will remember for the rest of my life. There were well over 500,000 people in attendance, all of us wanting honor and trust restored in our country. Everyone I talked to was kind, polite, cleancut and ready to do what they could to make a difference. Glenn encouraged us to get back to God and the let the change begin with us. I ony wish all the people who wanted to be could have, so that makes me feel very blessed for being there. Thank you God.

    Just wanted to comment on the fact that Hannity (hugoego) did not even make mention of the 8/28 Rally. He has shown his true colors, and they are not pretty. Although I admire his courage in the beginning of speaking out against much that was covered up……he now shows us all that his jealousy of Beck is greater than his gratitude to a co-worker that has made tremendous sacrifice to bring this Nation back to their knees to Restore Honor and Love to our Creator, Healer and our Holy Father !

    Now what will Hannity have to say about “character”?

  32. Education Secretary Urged his Employees to Attend Sharpton’s Rally

    A Department of Education e-mail sent Wednesday encouraged workers to join Education Secretary Arne Duncan, above, at a rally led by the Rev. Al Sharpton.

    President Obama’s top education official urged government employees to attend a rally that the Rev. Al Sharpton organized to counter a larger conservative event on the Mall.

    “ED staff are invited to join Secretary Arne Duncan, the Reverend Al Sharpton, and other leaders on Saturday, Aug. 28, for the ‘Reclaim the Dream’ rally and march,” began an internal e-mail sent to more than 4,000 employees of the Department of Education on Wednesday.”

    Sharpton created the event after Glenn Beck announced a massive Tea Party “Restoring Honor” rally at the Lincoln Memorial, where King spoke in 1963.

    The Washington Examiner learned of the e-mail from a Department of Education employee who felt uncomfortable with Duncan’s request.

    Although the e-mail does not violate the Hatch Act, which forbids federal employees from participating in political campaigns, Education Department workers should feel uneasy, said David Boaz, executive vice president of the libertarian Cato Institute.

    “It sends a signal that activity on behalf of one side of a political debate is expected within a department. It’s highly inappropriate … even in the absence of a direct threat,” Boaz said. “If we think of a Bush cabinet official sending an e-mail to civil servants asking them to attend a Glenn Beck rally, there would be a lot of outrage over that.”

    Russ Whitehurst, director of the liberal-leaning Brookings Institution’s Brown Center of Education Policy, said nothing like this happened when he was a Department of Education program director from 2001 to 2008: “Only political appointees would have been made aware of such an event and encouraged to attend.”

    Officially, Sharpton’s event commemorated the 47th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech.

    “[Conservatives] think we showed up [to vote for Barack Obama] in 2008 and that we won’t show up again. But we know how to sucker-punch, and we’re coming out again in 2010,” Sharpton said.

    Obama avoided comment on Saturday’s dueling rallies, but Duncan took the podium alongside Sharpton and 30 other speakers on the football field of Dunbar High School. Thousands of mostly blacks listened — and a lone man booed — as Duncan called education “the civil rights issue of our generation.”

    “Educators, we have to stop thinking of [poor-performing children] as other people’s children,” he said.

    Speakers at the Sharpton rally praised Obama and took jabs at the Tea Party.

    “Dr. King gave us a miracle in 2008. He gave us the first African-American president, and we must let them know today that we support [Obama],” said John Boyd, Jr., president of the National Black Farmers Association.

    D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton said Beck’s rally “would change nothing. … We will move right over you.”

    Education Department spokeswoman Sandra Abrevaya defended Duncan’s decision. “This was a back-to-school event,” she said.

    Duncan was chief executive officer of Chicago Public Schools for seven years before Obama nominated him in December 2008.

  33. Thousands march to ‘Reclaim the Dream’ [ THOUSANDS????]

    The event was called by Reverend Al Sharpton, President of the National Action Network, and included participation from numerous progressive organizations including members of the NAACP, National Urban League, SEIU and Teamsters National Black Caucus, as well as many individuals who came out to stand up for the dream that inspired so many 47 years ago.

    On Aug. 28, 1963, the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom became one of the pinnacle events of the civil rights movement. The “I Have a Dream” speech is arguably the most widely remembered moment of a movement that radically transformed society, but as thousands of people indicated at the anniversary march this past Saturday, it is a movement that has yet to see its complete fulfillment.

    So with chants of “Martin’s dream is under attack! What do we do? Stand up, fight back!” thousands filled the streets of D.C., undeterred even by the Tea Party counter demonstrators rallied by reactionary broadcaster Glen Beck.

    This counter rally included speeches by Beck and Sarah Palin on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, the same place from which Dr. King and other leaders spoke during the 1963 March on Washington, Although Beck has stated that coincidence of the date and location was merely “divine providence,” Reverend Sharpton expressed his doubt in this claim, saying that the “Restoring Honor” rally was “an effort to embarrass and poke a finger in the eye of the civil rights community.”

  34. We hadn’t heard about this! Leave it to the Left to attempt something, to incite others. It appears it did not work. Impressive that the Tea Party people involved didn’t bite!

    A Legend Fit for a King

    On the warm Saturday morning that was Glenn Beck’s Restoring Honor rally, I was slowly squeezing my way through a dense crowd, trying to make my way past the World War II Memorial. The National Mall was covered in a sea of people; men, women, and children abuzz about a historical event, but dressed in short-sleeves and khaki shorts, as though they were just going to another youth baseball game. People were craning their necks, standing on their tiptoes, and shifting for a better view. Others had given up and were sitting on the marble memorial.

    It was in the midst of all this that five protesters suddenly appeared, worming their way through the crowd. Most were young, shaggy, wearing black; clearly born in the wrong decade. They had large poster board signs hoisted above their heads. “BECK IS A F’KIN RACIST!” one screamed. “FIGHT HATE! TURN OFF FOX NEWS!” another exclaimed. “I’M BROWN AND A U.S. CITIZEN! WHY ARE YOU SO SCARED OF ME?” another demanded.

    Actually it turned out the Tea Partiers weren’t that scared at all. As the wannabe rabble-rousers waved their signs and jeered, most of the Tea Partiers ignored them or offered a brief smile. A few stepped forward to calmly debate. One woman looked at me with a grin. “We should sing Amazing Grace,” she said……

    A Black Man Goes To Glenn Beck’s Rally

    To hear the mainstream media tell the story, you would have thought that I, a black man, had walked into a hornet’s nest of racists when I decided to attend Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally. In reality, my experience was the complete opposite.

    Instead of hooded Klansman frothing with hate and venom, I made dozens of new Facebook friends and gained a hundred Twitter followers.
