Second Oil Rig Capsized in the Gulf

Birds Fly over oil slick near Breton Sound Island, south of Louisiana

Unusual Events Are Occurring

By Bridgette

Does anybody think it is peculiar that there has been no news or details about those that died on the BP oil rig?   We haven’t heard or read about any interviews with survivors either.

Journalists were quick to interview people on the ship that was attacked by pirates. The pirates kidnapped their captain, and he was eventually saved when the Navy Seals shot the pirates. The media covered that incident extensively.

Reporters covered the recent mine accident, and there were daily updates regarding rescue attempts to save trapped miners. Yet, the news about the oil spill has contained little information about the explosion itself nor about the survivors.  Those that lived might shed some light on this tragedy.   People lost their lives, yet no information about them is in the news.  Where are the reporters?  Has CNN sent Anderson Cooper to investigate and speak to witnesses?   Can we expect to see him wearing waders standing knee-deep in a black sludge of oil and water.  Will Geraldo be sent to the Louisiana coast  or to Britain to investigate the explosion or find some living rig workers who might have a story to tell?

Oh yes, we have heard about BP’s responsibility for the accident and we were given assurances from Obama and the administration that BP will pay.  It is their fault and everyone can attest to that fact.  Of course, blame had to be assigned quickly. The fact that it took Obama et al., NINE DAYS to respond to this disaster is minimized.   Some are calling this delayed response, “Obama’s Katrina.”   Better it be called “Obama’s Oil Slick Schtick” .

He has mastered the art of procrastination when it comes to serious decision-making about any crisis situation.  His ineptitude and lack of leadership adds to our fears and worries for ourselves, our families, and for our country.   Then the administration tries to mask their incompetency through lies and secrecy.  Their incompetency, ineptitude, inexperience, and weaknesses are as huge a disaster as the oil spills that are endangering our coastal waters, beaches, and environment. What is known about them is exactly what they think they are hiding from us. Yet their flaws are so transparent, that it is all that we see.

The Obama administration is always quick to blame and shame when they don’t have all of the facts, and they do want you to have the facts, their facts.  The media and administration’s parrots repeat, and repeat, and repeat, and repeat for those who didn’t get the story the first time.  On Saturday, Obama lectured  University of Michigan graduates on the laws that will require BP to pay for its oil spill damages and the cleanup.   He also extolled the virtues of his government as one that works.

“Government is what ensures that mines adhere to standards and that oil spills are cleaned up by the companies that caused them.”

The White House claims they were working on the problem daily and that they were “on top of it.”  Perhaps Barack and Michelle were figuring out how to handle the British oil company when they went hiking in the woods on their April vacation.  After all, targeting, attacking, blaming and campaigning is such hard work.   A trip to the very green “weedy” woods, sans secret service,  might be what the doctor ordered, medicinally speaking.

Would you think it is even more unusual that a SECOND LOUISIANA OIL RIG capsized?  Not much of a mention…in fact, only two blurbs in the news.

H/T to Jared of the 9-12 group that is looking into these “incidents.” He wrote,

From what I have heard, the speculation that it WAS an attack was based upon facts, as in, there’s no way on earth that this oil rig, which had been overhauled with the latest upgrades only two years ago, I’m told, and had TEN redundant hydraulic systems in place to prevent exactly what happened, according to an anonymous source who got in touch with me via an intermediary, just blew up and went down like that.

They have systems in place to ensure that it won’t happen, and this particular rig was just bristling with the latest upgrades and systems.  And even if a gas buildup occurred, it couldn’t possibly do the damage that apparently happened to the oil wellhead, according to sources I’ve spoken to. I’ve been told that only properly placed/targeted military-grade explosives could have done that.

OIL RIG INCIDENT #2

Coast Guard Responds to Inland Oil Rig Accident
By Wallace Witkowski
April 30, 2010, 5:40 p.m. EDT

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — The U.S. Coast Guard said Friday it is responding to a second oil-rig accident. A “mobile inland drilling unit” with a 20,000-gallon diesel fuel capacity overturned in the Charenton navigational channel south of U.S. Highway 90 near Morgan City, La. No fuel leak or injuries have been reported but 500 feet of containment boom has been deployed around the rig, the Coast Guard said.

(Rewrites, adds rig headed for salvage yard)

HOUSTON, April 30 (Reuters) – An inland shallow-water drilling rig capsized near Morgan City, Louisiana, while being towed to a salvage yard, the Coast Guard said on Friday.

There were no injuries, and navigation was not affected by the incident in the Charenton navigation channel south of U.S. 90 near Morgan City, Coast Guard spokesman Mike O’Berry said.

“This is not a major waterway,” he said.
“Nobody was on board. It was being towed.”

The incident followed the April 20 explosion of the Transocean Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico, in which 11 people died. The rig sank and a disastrous oil spill has ensued.

A 210-foot-long barge rig, which worked swampland and shallow water oil and gas prospects, was involved in Friday’s incident, the Coast Guard said.

It had a 20,000-gallon diesel tank, but carried only about 200 gallons of fuel when it capsized. Spill containment boom was put around it as a precaution, the Coast Guard said.

O’ Berry said the rig was owned by T. Moore Services in Franklin, Louisiana. A telephone call to the company was not returned.

What story is hidden in the same body of water, when two oil rigs capsize within two weeks of each other,  and when there is shallow and little news coverage related to the events?   Sabotage, perhaps.  Terrorism, most likely.  Subterfuge, most definitely.   Will Obama go down with the rigs?

Do we have any experts that can weigh in about oil rigs?

  1. BP Oil Spill: Against Gov. Jindal’s Wishes, Crude-Sucking Barges Stopped by Coast Guard

Posted on Thursday, June 17, 2010 4:24:50 PM by Hoodat

Eight days ago, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal ordered barges to begin vacuuming crude oil out of his state’s oil-soaked waters. Today, against the governor’s wishes, those barges sat idle, even as more oil flowed toward the Louisiana shore.

“It’s the most frustrating thing,” the Republican governor said today in Buras, La. “Literally, yesterday morning we found out that they were halting all of these barges.”

Sixteen barges sat stationary today, although they were sucking up thousands of gallons of BP’s oil as recently as Tuesday. Workers in hazmat suits and gas masks pumped the oil out of the Louisiana waters and into steel tanks. It was a homegrown idea that seemed to be effective at collecting the thick gunk.

“These barges work. You’ve seen them work. You’ve seen them suck oil out of the water,” said Jindal.

    So why stop now?

Until this week, the general impression of the Deepwater Horizon blowout in the Gulf has been that the explosion took everyone by surprise, and that neither BP nor a dysfunctional MMS had any idea that the well had reached a critical stage. Two days ago, however, Bloomberg reported that both BP and MMS were well aware of the high risk of a blowout at that particular well. BP and its subcontractor Transocean had in fact been fighting against a blowout for over two months, and MMS was well aware of the situation:

  4. UN Vehicles At Reynolds Airport In Florida

4ReTweetSomething the media is not showing you. There have been reports of this for a few weeks, but this information is the clearest I have been able to find. Mass evacuations?

OIL SPILL – UN trucks preparations for martial law in Florida?

liberteaparty — June 09, 2010 — First, this is not an “Air Force Base” — it is a PRIVATELY OWNED FACILITY known as “Reynolds Airpark” a private Airport and “manufacturing facility”. A Mr. Ted McGowan is the manager — and their phone number is: 904-284-3505. Second, these are not “U.N. Vehicles”. These white vans belong to Pegasus International and Cerberus/DynCorp.

“Reynolds Airpark” is listed in the Clay County Fla. plat/tax rolls as being wholly owned by a company named Pegasus International. Ok, I thought, what exactly is “Pegasus International” and what exactly do they do?? Well — among other things, they just happen to be involved in the OIL DRILLING BUSINESS — with ties to Halliburton and BRITISH PETROLEUM!!! What the hell??? See their website at: pegasus-international.com

Then, of all things, they just happen to have an office in Salt Lake City, Utah. Here is where the plot thickens. Their SLC office also houses Dick Cheney’s Halliburton, and is next to the Minerals Management Service (MMS) offices. Worse, their U.K. office “address” is next door to (or possibly even a part of) British Petroleum as well. What is going on?? They also have “offices” in Turkmenistan, Nigeria, and Azerbijan — hotbeds of political intrigue and profiteering for BP. See universalpegasus.com

But — it gets worse, if possible. “Pegasus International” owns and operates Pegasus Technologies — which is involved in a neat little NSA/CIA operation titled the “Information Sharing Council” or ISC. Their “unclassified” 2006 report can be seen here (pdf). A careful reading of this document shows that part of the “Pegasus Program” is the deployment of thousands of vehicles across America, outfitted with domestic spying “Maximum Information Technology” (MaxIT) systems. MaxIT is a joint venture of the following companies: Appriss Inc., Bio-Key International, Inc., Business Communications Inc., Circadence Corporation, Cquay Technologies, Dell, eLabs Inc., MS e-Center and Sun Microsystems. (See 12/12/03 report here)

When I studied DynCorp International, I found that DynCorp and Pegasus International are basically joined at the hips with many international “joint projects”. There is NO DOUBT in my mind that DynCorp, and Pegasus are CIA FRONT COMPANIES involved in the deepest black ops. (See NanoTech expose in “Dr. Ott’s Papers” here.)

Also, check this out. Dyncorp Int. was “purchased” back on April 12 by Cerberus Capital, and the “deal” was brokered by, you guessed it, Goldman Sachs who SHORTED TRANSOCEAN STOCKS on April 17, three days before the Gulf Oil debacle began. (See here for more details about that).

Obama accused of defying court on drilling ban
    June 23, 2010

Drilling companies and others who won an order from a federal judge Tuesday lifting the Obama Administration’s moratorium on deepwater oil drilling are accusing the administration of defying the court’s order by announcing plans to reimpose the moratorium. Moratorium opponents filed papers in a New Orleans federal court this afternoon requesting an emergency hearing before Judge Martin Feldman, who entered the order blocking the moratorium. Since that time, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar indicated both in a statement and Congressional testimony that he plans to re-impose the moratorium soon based on information that wasn’t fully developed when the six-month drilling ban was imposed in late May.

  9. Obama Underwrites Offshore Drilling

You read that headline correctly. Unfortunately, the Obama Administration is financing oil exploration off Brazil.

The U.S. is going to lend billions of dollars to Brazil’s state-owned oil company, Petrobras, to finance exploration of the huge offshore discovery in Brazil’s Tupi oil field in the Santos Basin near Rio de Janeiro. Brazil’s planning minister confirmed that White House National Security Adviser James Jones met this month with Brazilian officials to talk about the loan.

The U.S. Export-Import Bank tells us it has issued a “preliminary commitment” letter to Petrobras in the amount of $2 billion and has discussed with Brazil the possibility of increasing that amount. Ex-Im Bank says it has not decided whether the money will come in the form of a direct loan or loan guarantees. Either way, this corporate foreign aid may strike some readers as odd, given that the U.S. Treasury seems desperate for cash and Petrobras is one of the largest corporations in the Americas.

  11. Venezuela seizes oil rigs owned by US company
    Thursday 24, 2010 Snips

CARACAS, Venezuela – Venezuela’s government has seized control of 11 oil rigs owned by U.S. driller Helmerich & Payne, which shut them down because the state oil company was behind on payments.

Oil Minister Rafael Ramirez announced that Venezuela would nationalize the Tulsa, Oklahoma-based company’s rigs. He said in a statement Wednesday that Helmerich & Payne had rejected government demands to resume drilling operations for more than a year.

Helmerich & Payne announced in January 2009 that it was stopping operations on two of its drilling rigs, because Venezuela’s state-run oil company, PDVSA, owed the company close to $100 million. It said it would shut down the rest of its rigs by the end of July as contracts expired unless PDVSA began to make good on its debts. The company said Thursday that PDVSA’s debt was $43 million as of June 14.

The company has worked in Venezuela for 52 years, Helmerich added.

The government of President Hugo Chavez has nationalized dozens of privately owned companies in recent years as the socialist leader seeks to expand the state’s role in the economy. Government critics and many business owners argue the takeovers violate private property rights.

Helmerich & Payne Inc. is primarily a contract drilling company. As of June 8, the company’s existing fleet included 214 U.S. land rigs, 39 international land rigs and nine offshore platform rigs.

    • B, What do you think of this ? I just posted it too on another thread. Odd the name Payne huh ? Looks like Chavez wants to bankrupt them huh ?
Odd connection. There is more to this I believe..

      • Yes, saw the Payne from OK. Sounds like a big company since each rig is worth $10 million just to put it somewhere.

Will Hugo’s takeover of the oil feed the people he is hoarding food from?

They owe $43 million to the Tulsa Company…it shows how well a socialist company does.

I wonder what their recourse is to get their monies from another country. I think Chavez wanted that rig so he didn’t pay.

  12. Judge Faces Death Threats After BP Gulf Oil Drilling Moratorium Ruling
    June 24, 2010 Snips

New Orleans–While many Americans undoubtedly agree with the decision of U.S. District Court Judge Martin Feldman to overturn the Obama administration’s moratorium on deep water drilling, not everyone is happy. In fact, the Judge is now receiving death threats in the aftermath of his bold ruling.

Last night, Feldman served as a celebrity judge at a cooking contest at a school gymnasium in Uptown New Orleans. Due to the threats, Feldman was accompanied by a federal marshal security team.

It is a sad indictment of our society today that a judge with such a sterling record of integrity and service to his country would be subject to such threats. Feldman was appointed to the federal bench by President Reagan in 1983. Today, he is in the eye of a political hurricane unlike anything he has ever experienced.

In issuing his ruling, Feldman said that the moratorium was faulty because there was no “rational connection between the facts found and the choice made.” While there is often debate about the merits of judicial decisions, seldom does the criticism focus on the integrity of the judge. Right after he issued the ruling,
Feldman came under attack as a tool of the oil industry. Media outlets reporters noted that the Judge held stock in oil and gas companies and implied that his decision was based on his own personal financial considerations. Such a personal attack is unfair and completely unwarranted, especially for Feldman, a distinguished judge known for his commitment to the law and a jurist who has earned the praise of people throughout the legal community.

Feldman found that the Obama administration did not base the moratorium on solid facts and made a sweeping decision that was not justified. The Judge noted that just because the BP well was beset with problems and resulted in a massive oil spill, there is no reason to believe other wells would have similar problems. “If some drilling equipment parts are flawed, is it rational to say all are? Are all airplanes a danger
because one was? All oil tankers like Exxon Valdez? All trains? All mines? That sort of thinking seems heavy-handed, and rather overbearing,” Feldman wrote.

    • Doesn’t this sound like the Obama thugs are at work? As expected they intimidate and threaten a judge when they lost their lawsuit. This ethical judge ruled against their idea of a moratorium to stop all drilling in the Gulf..thereby ruining their plans to put thousands out of work, hurt companies, and put the economy in further peril.

Don’t you wish one of those Obama eligibility lawsuits could reach his court?

  14. BP oil spill: failed safety device on Deepwater Horizon rig was modified in China

    Saturday, July 17, 2010

BP ordered the owner of the Deepwater Horizon rig, whose explosion led to the worst environmental disaster in US history, to overhaul a crucial piece of the rig’s safety equipment in China, the Observer has learned. The blow-out preventer – the last line of defense against an out-of-control well – subsequently failed to activate and is at the centre of investigations into what caused the disaster.

Experts say that the practice of having such engineering work carried out in China, rather than the US, saves money and is common in the industry.

This weekend BP remained cautiously optimistic that the cap placed on top of the Gulf of Mexico well on Thursday night would continue to hold back the torrent of oil. It is the first time the flow has been stopped since the accident happened almost three months ago. But BP said that the pressure readings from the Macondo well were not as high as it had hoped, which could indicate that it has ruptured and that oil could be leaking out somewhere else.

There is no evidence that the significant modifications to the blowout preventer (BOP), which were carried out in China in 2005, caused the equipment to fail. But industry lawyers said BP could be made liable for any mistakes that a Chinese subcontractor made carrying out the work. It would be almost impossible to secure damages in China, where international law is barely recognised.

  15. BP, feds clash over reopening capped Gulf oil well

    July 18, 2010

By COLLEEN LONG and HARRY R. WEBER, Associated Press

NEW ORLEANS – BP and the Obama administration offered significantly differing views Sunday on whether the capped Gulf of Mexico oil well will have to be reopened, a contradiction that may be an effort by the oil giant to avoid blame if crude starts spewing again.

Pilloried for nearly three months as it tried repeatedly to stop the leak, BP PLC capped the nearly mile-deep well Thursday and wants to keep it that way. The government’s plan, however, is to eventually pipe oil to the surface, which would ease pressure on the fragile well but would require up to three more days of oil spilling into the Gulf.

“No one associated with this whole activity … wants to see any more oil flow into the Gulf of Mexico,” Doug Suttles, BP’s chief operating officer, said Sunday. “Right now we don’t have a target to return the well to flow.”

An administration official familiar with the spill oversight, however, told The Associated Press that a seep and possible methane were found near the busted oil well. The official spoke on condition of anonymity Sunday because an announcement about the next steps had not been made yet.

  16. I’m not sure that I ever believed that they capped that well in the first place.

I know I never believed that they plan to not collect the oil. I don’t believe they’re going to plug it up and walk away from all that oil.

This cap suddenly appeared just in time to allow BHO to go with the little family on vacation in Maine (not the Gulf, you notice. Do as I say, not as I do.) What’s he really doing up there, anyway? That is, if he is up in Maine?

Isn’t it about time for his annual pilgrimage to Hawaii? Look for him to be gone, oh, on or about Aug. 11.

  17. EXCLUSIVE: Tests find sickened family has 50.3 ppm of Corexit’s 2-butoxyethanol in swimming pool — JUST ONE HOUR NORTH OF TAMPA (lab report included)
    August 30, 2010 SNIPS

“Our heads are still swimming,” stated Barbara Schebler of Homosassa, Florida, who received word last Friday that test results on the water from her family’s swimming pool showed 50.3 ppm of 2-butoxyethanol, a marker for the dispersant Corexit 9527A used to break up and sink BP’s oil in the Gulf of Mexico.

A July letter from four top scientists noted, “Corexit 9527A contains 2-BTE (2-butoxyethanol), a toxic solvent that ruptures red blood cells, causing hemolysis (bleeding) and liver and kidney damage (Johanson and Bowman, 1991, Nalco, 2010).”

The question remains, how did this chemical find its way into the Schebler’s pool in such a high concentration?

“At night we would hear very low aircraft, including helicopters. We figured they were just heading to help out in the Gulf,” and Mrs. Schebler added that she was told, “The prevailing winds from the Gulf are easterly — and when they spray, it is airborne — and that we are right in the path of those winds.”

There is no way to be sure at this point. Though she stated, “Friends a few miles away… are having [a] similar situation. They are now thinking of getting their water tested.”
