A New Post By TexasDarlin

TexasDarlin (“TD”) has a new post up:

Stop ObamaScare, Join the Scott Brown Brigade.

After a 5-month hiatus, I have temporarily re-activated the blog for one reason: to be part of the nationwide grassroots revolution to elect Scott Brown to the U.S. Senate on Jan. 19. His win would end the 60-seat fillibuster-proof majority currently being abused by Democrats. His vote could kill ObamaScare.

My Democratic party used to stand for responsible government. Why do you suppose nearly one-third of registered voters are now Independent?

Unfortunately, TD’s archives do not appear to be available at this time. But it’s great to see TD back in action, if even for a single issue.

  1. Happy New Year Everyone 🙂

Regarding obamascare and the 60 seat filibuster — wasn’t it just a week or two ago, around midnight, that the Senate passed the cloture vote — I thought the whole point of the cloture passage was to make the 60 seat filibuster moot — now only ?51 votes will be necessary for final passage.
I could be way off (you guys know I’m in my own funk, so I haven’t been paying attention to media as of late), but that was my understanding of the issue — as always, please feel free to correct/educate me if this is not the case.

    Hugs to you all.

    • Ali,
Votes to end debate (cloture votes) need to be at least a 3/5 vote (60 votes). Votes to pass a bill only require a simple majority. The House and the Senate must pass identical bills before it goes to the President (or in this case the Precedent) for their signature.

Since the House and Sentate passed different bills, 1 of 3 things would have to happen in order to send this to Obama:

      1) The House decides to vote on the Senate bill and passes it. I think this is the most dangerous scenario, becuase Pelosi could probably get the votes… some of those who voted No the first time were probably really Yes votes, but were allowed to vote No in order to appear more “moderate”.

      2) The Senate decides to vote on the House bill and passes it. I think this is less likely, and I think that since it is a different bill, then it would have to pass another Cloture vote in the Senate before the actual vote on the bill.

      3) The House and Senate come up with a compromise “conference” bill, and it passes in both houses. Again, a Cloture vote would be required in the Senate.

The Senate resumes on January 19th… the same day as the MA special election. Unless Reid pulls a fast one and gets another cloture vote on January 19th, or if the election gets held up in legal challenges, then the new Senator will be sworn in before the next cloture vote. If Brown wins the seat, then the Democrats would not have 60 votes for cloture. They would no longer be able to shut Republicans out of the process, because nothing would get passed if they do that. I, like many Americans, would like to see the Democrats forced to start working with Republicans. And I’d like to see the Obama keep his promise that all discussions about the healthcare bill will be open, transparent, and accountable… and shown on C-SPAN.

      • All that space where my brain should be is a problem 🙂
RP, I thought the senate’s approval of cloture pertained to the upcoming final vote — (final plan concocted in conference, and then when it comes to the senate, 51 rather than 60 votes to pass it)

        • They did both the cloture vote and the final vote for the Senate version of the bill just before Christmas. Any changes made in conference will need to go through their own debate, cloture vote, and final vote. But rest assured that they won’t let it go to a floor vote until they know they have the numbers they need.

It was a very rare occurrence in 2008 when Pelosi brought a bill up for a vote, thinking she had the numbers to pass it, but then gave a long, Bush-bashing monologue that ticked off enough representatives to cause them to change their minds and vote no, causing that vote to fall short. Pelosi regrouped, and got the votes she needed on another day, but that day was an embarrassment to her. And she deserved it.

  2. Is TD going to accept donations for the Massachusetts campaign of Scott Brown to the U.S. Senate? I’m not going to vote in Mass and I don’t think it’s right to give money to candidates not running in your own districts.

Like Hillary when she moved to New York just to run for office and then had big out of state campaign drives and took donations from out of state and won the election.

  4. Veer funny Papose!!!!

  5. AOne, you mean like pffft?

omigosh. So much for dropping by with a little “Hello! Hurray! How are ya?”

  6. I asked this question

    Your comment is awaiting moderation.

What is his position on exposing the usurper, the fake prezodent?

    It is a test.

Banned once for asking the truth,
    we shall see.

    • Don’t feel like the Lone Ranger, dave m.!!! Been there, done that!

      • Peachie, you too!!!

Geebs, and you never even mentioned the bowtie-wearing Pharoah deep in the bowels of the South Side. Sheesh.

Once, I’m out of moderation, you will be able to read this comment.

        • Papoose, this doggone global warming has given me a brain freeze….forecast tonight 16 degrees with a wind chill of 10!!! You will have to jog my memory on the bowtie-wearing Pharoah??

          • Peachie, it is my humble opinion that the Nation of Islam is in an Epic War with the New World Order players. I believe that Barky is in a “struggle” for New World Order as well, but his way. I believe that Barky is pacifying and hypnotizing the Middle Eastern Muslims into believing he is their new Prophet and is using his office as POTUS to eventually subjugate them and then he will be the King of the World as he will have control of the West as well as the East. Louie, has declared Barky as the Messiah as Kadaffi did. Barky is bowing and scraping (kowtowing) to Heads of State that have enormous populations. That State dinner for the India PM was so over the top. India and Pockeeestahn are enemies. He refused to receive the Dalai Lama; he mortified Netanyahu by delivering him to the White House in a blank van and allowed the man to leave by the side door without an escort.
I think we are all pawns to this NWO. Look at the Iranians that are trying to be set free. Barky wants them kept under that kook’s thumb until they become useful to him. Its so obvious to me that Barky and Company are working on a bigger picture than ‘healthcare’ for all Americans. Bush and Cheney anf the Clintons had better stay in line or else.

    • Hey dave m, I remember!

Thanks for sharing our site the other day. That was nice of you.

  7. Hey Ga Peach – Thanks!

You too Papoose, do you mean when I credited your list to Chronwatch?

I recommend this site as much as I can.

    Thanks everybody.

    • Hey Dave,

We need you to add some of your info to the Terror Train thread if you have some new tidbits! Thanks for recommending us!

  8. OK Bridgette,

    I will,

for this thread let me say oh no! my comment disappearedinto
    the TD moderation quicksand,

but Canada Free Press has a good article on
why Glenn Beck won’t discuss the Birther issue, just like TD

For safekeeping, I put it here:

I wonder if it is true ? Scott Brown would not be sworn in in time for the healthcare vote. Read it here. You must be kidding me ? I wonder if TD knows ? Could this happen ?

  10. Sounds like a patriot to me.

    “It’s The People’s Seat.”

Scott Brown responding to Gergen in debate.

    • From the article above.

Many of those involved in this hastily-organized rescue attempt have no Bay State ties, their only allegiance is to piggish K Street – Beltway lobbying firms.

At the Washington Examiner, Timothy Carney has the scoop:

With Democrat Martha Coakley in trouble in the Massachusetts special election to fill Ted Kennedy’s seat, Democrats could lose vote No. 60 for President Obama’s health-care bill. In response, an army of lobbyists for drug companies, health insurance companies, and hospitals has teamed up to throw a high-dollar Capitol Hill fundraiser for Coakley next Tuesday night.

Of the 22 names on the host committee–meaning they raised $10,000 or more for Coakley–17 are federally registered lobbyists, 15 of whom have health-care clients. Of the other five hosts, one is married to a lobbyist, one was a lobbyist in Pennsylvania, another is a lawyer at a lobbying firm, and another is a corporate CEO. Oh, and of course, there’s also the political action commitee for Boston Scientific Corporation.

All the leading drug companies have lobbyists on Coakley’s host committee: Pfizer, Merck, Amgen, Sanofi-Aventis, Eli Lilly, Novartis, Astra-Zeneca, and more. On the insurance side of things, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, HealthSouth, and United Health all are represented on the host committee.

Coakley is being funded thousands of dollars from DC health care lobbyists but wants the public to believe that Scott Brown is being funded by big corporate donations and tea party devils.
      She has no shame.

  11. Coakley is on tape from a debate stating.” there are no terrorists left in Afganistan. so it is time for us to get out.
She has her head in the sand…… Hopefully quick sand.

  12. See what the Dems are spreading now! Their newest attack on Scott. What creative vipers.

Coakley to Fundraisers: ‘If I Don’t Win, 2010 Is Going to Be Hell for Democrats.’
    Tuesday, January 12, 2010

One of the Campaign Spot’s multitude of spies — yes, we have a separate Directorate of Intelligence — infiltrated Martha Coakley’s fundraiser in Washington, D.C., tonight.

My spy passes along word that Coakley herself fired up the crowd with this inspiring line: “If I don’t win, 2010 is going to be hell for Democrats . . . Every Democrat will have a competitive race.” Her defeat was also described as “Waterloo for health care.”

My spy also tells me Rep. Ed Markey* implied Scott Brown is a cross-dresser.

  13. Someone trying to smear Scott Brown by sending this about ? Humm….that may just backfire on you I think… He is a hottie… he may have a nice stimulus Package maybe huh ?
Smearers are going to have to do alot better then this ! I think they just helped him !

    • Martha Coakley, Thank you!! “LOVED” the artical. Maybe next time you can sent one out in screen saver form. GO SCOTT !!!

      Go Scott, yes you can!
      Your stimulus Package
is way better than that other man’s !!!!
      LOL !!!

  14. Great Scott!

Poll shocker: Scott Brown surges ahead in Senate race
    Fri. Jan 15

Riding a wave of opposition to Democratic health-care reform, GOP upstart Scott Brown is leading in the U.S. Senate race, raising the odds of a historic upset that would reverberate all the way to the White House, a new poll shows.

Although Brown’s 4-point lead over Democrat Martha Coakley is within the Suffolk University/7 News survey’s margin of error

“It’s a Brown-out,” said Paleologos, director of Suffolk’s Political Research Center. “It’s a massive change in the political landscape.”

The poll shows Brown, a state senator from Wrentham, besting Coakley, the state’s attorney general, by 50 percent to 46 percent, the first major survey to show Brown in the lead.

Gibbs said Obama won’t be stumping for Coakley…why? His last few stumps immensely helped the other side..and stumping for the Olympics wasn’t a win either. Superstitious maybe? Go to MA Obama…we need your, ahem, “lucky” charm! May the Union and ACORN machine die a certain death in MA! Sorry Teddy and kin …the People are Taking THEIR Seat Back!

    • Obama apparently talked to his iconic monkey in his pocket…and was told to go to stump in MA. May his lucky streak continue…like it did for New Jersey and Virginia! As a taxpayer, I resent paying for his democratic stumping and feel sorry for the cities that he visits for all the extra cash they have to lay out for security etc. He was needing a get-away after a long week of bribing and giving the Unions tax breaks on healthcare that no other non union citizens get!

  15. LOL bridgetteb, Obama is SCARRRRRRED!!
I belive things are about to come to a “Change”

    YES!!! Go Scott

Knowledgeable sources in Massachusetts tell The Daily Caller that Republican candidate for Senate, Scott Brown, has raised at least $1 million dollars every day this week, most of it online.

Although Brown’s campaign touted Monday’s money-bomb fundraiser that brought in $1.3 million dollars, the campaign declined to confirm totals for other days this week.

  16. Martha Coakley: Terrible Prosecutor
Show Us Where The Bad Prosecutor Touched You
Thursday, January 14th at 4:53PM EST

There’s also the opposite, her lenient treatment of a Somerville cop who raped his 23-month-old niece – yes, a toddler – with a hot curling iron. Coakley’s office let him out without bail pending trial; only under her successor was he convicted and sentenced to two life terms in jail.

It starts to be apparent that the persistent incompetence and tone-deafness of Coakley’s campaign may not be a new thing for her.

More to this story, the guy that raped the 2 yr old.. his daddy was a big union leader and fund raiser for Coakley…thus he wouldn’t have gotten prosecuted if another prosecutor hadn’t done it. The rapist ended up getting 2 life sentences. With Coakley, he would have walked. What judgment this woman had… Coakley isn’t she representative of the now very typical democrat. Now exposed !

    • Absolutely appalling. Do read about this woman and see if you would like her to represent you in the Senate. These stories sshould be front page news and all over the MSM if it still existed. One vote for her is to many.

Martha’s Greatest Hits: The Things the Democrats Would Like You to Forget About Candidate Coakley

In researching the ever-intensifying Massachusetts Senate race between Democrat Martha Coakley and her Republican challenger Scott Brown, it only takes a few keystrokes to unearth her ongoing history of questionable judgment and puzzling prosecutorial decisions.

      1. October 2005: The curling-iron toddler rape case. Coakley brings no charges, then lets the rapist out on no bail.

The “Pedophile Priest” Case, 1995-2002: Coakley cut secret deal in 1995 that allowed Father Geoghan to molest again.

One of the most notorious cases of homosexual child abuse in the “pedophile priests” scandal that rocked the American Catholic Church in general and the Archdiocese of Boston in particular over the past twenty years involved Father John Geoghan, who came to symbolize the cancer in the church.

Attorney General Martha Coakley, the state’s top lawyer, acknowledged yesterday that she improperly filled out a federal financial disclosure she submitted to the US Senate as part of her candidacy in the special election.

But her campaign said Coakley failed to list $200,000 to $250,000 in financial assets that are held by her husband, Thomas F. O’Connor Jr. The campaign said Coakley also failed to note a retirement account she holds that is worth $12,000.
It was…… a somewhat embarrassing omission for a perceived front-runner who oversees the state’s legal affairs.
Naturally, a campaign spokeswoman dismissed the whole thing as “mistake” – Democrat-speak for “you got me!” – and promised to file amended returns “as quickly as possible” – Democrat-speak for “any time between Hell Freezes Over and Never.”

  17. Dear TD,

Proud. Happy and in love with the idea of Scott Brown. Hope he is installed and sworn in on the 20th.

Congratulations for all your efforts. Hope you win on Tuesday.

Hearts will dance with glee all through the Countryside.

Detour. I posted my note to TD on the wrong post.

It all boils down to if we win this election, the page will turn.

Happy, Proud and in Like with Scott Brown. h/t TD for her efforts.

  18. Schumer Pulls ‘Tea-Bagger’ Card on GOP Candidate Brown
    January 14, 2010

New York Sen. Charles Schumer, who famously hammered then-Sen. Alfonse D’Amato for calling him a “putz-head” in their hot 1998 campaign, was accused Thursday of stepping into the gutter himself after he sent out a fund raising e-mail in which he called Massachusetts Republican Senate candidate Scott Brown a “far-right tea-bagger.”

The two-term Democrat, in accusing Brown of being aligned with the conservative “tea party” movement, used a term that every tea party critic knows refers to a sexual act.

“Martha Coakley is running to fill the rest of Ted Kennedy’s term, and her opponent is a far-right tea-bagger Republican,” Schumer wrote.

Schumer won the election, was re-elected in 2004 and is seeking re-election again this year.

  19. 3000 seat auditorium, 2000 seats filled…..has the Obama magic gone bye bye ? Hecklers gave it out for 5 minutes….I think the magic is gone…

  20. Martha must win or Obama says his “social experiment” with America is doomed ? Social experiment ? Is this what this is ? Experiment ?
Like they do with cutting open frogs in science class ? Yay ! Thanks !, now I get it ! Everyone feel better ? We are now an experiment…. ?. I really do feel the need to hurl now….. Lovely !

Mr. Brown Goes To Washington, To Take The People’s Seat

          January 19, 2010 by texasdarlin

Scott Brown accomplished the impossible. He beat the BigDem machine in cobalt-blue Massachusetts. A stunning, historic victory.

Brown won without the help of ACORN, SEIU thuggery, Black Panther poll monitors, or other establishment props. He engineered and executed a brilliant populist campaign made up of old-fashioned “Fenway Park” handshaking, clever retorts, positive energy, and technological savvy. What a well-earned win.

Thank you, Massachusetts. Thank you, America.
          AND THANK YOU TD !!!
