Obama the Czar-Maker Becomes the Ultimate Czar

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse!!

An innocent young girl rises from her bed in a dry, barren wasteland and watches as an earthquake violently splits the land around her, while a tornado rips apart a metropolis far in the distance. A tidal wave rushes toward her, and she jumps to a tree branch with no time to spare, avoiding a horrific death. She awakens from her nightmare, screaming in fear, and then solemnly implores the viewer, “Please help the world.” This exploitative video from the environmental left shockingly debuted yesterday at the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference and is likely the first of many assaults on the senses employed to gin up support for a global climate treaty that would lead to an even more apocalyptic end for the U.S. economy.

Those disaster-movie-style scare tactics are an act of desperation necessary to sway the public’s wavering opinion on the notion of man-made climate change, particularly in light of the Climategate scandal, which exposed the dirty dealings of global warming “experts” who evidently deleted, doctored and destroyed inconveniently true data that rendered their climate change theories bunk and not beyond question. But where public opinion can’t be manipulated with fear mongering and lies, political victory will be won with the brute force of federal regulation.

Yesterday, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) declared carbon dioxide to be a dangerous pollutant under the Clean Air Act, granting itself authority for an enormous, unprecedented regulatory undertaking that would greatly expand the EPA’s power. Because 85 percent of the U.S. economy operates on fossil fuel, the EPA would essentially have the ability to regulate every aspect of life in America – and it would be able to enact draconian climate-change policies without any accountability to American voters.

The EPA’s actions are a regulatory end-run around a politically-unpopular Democratic Senate who may not be able – or willing – to deliver on cap-and-trade climate change legislation. A lack of a mandate from home might have been an embarrassment for President Barack Obama, who otherwise would have arrived next week at Copenhagen empty-handed, unable to tout climate change progress from back in the States. However, as The Wall Street Journal opines this morning:

“President Obama isn’t about to let a trifle like democratic consent impede his climate agenda. With cap and trade blown apart in the Senate, the White House has chosen to impose taxes and regulation across the entire economy under clean-air laws that were written decades ago and were never meant to apply to carbon.”

The un-democratic EPA ruling drew applause from the powers that be at Copenhagen, who saw the ruling for what it is – a despotic, unilateral decision designed to move a global environmental agenda forward, despite the lack of consent from the governed. An article on the Copenhagen Conference Web site declared, “US body aids Copenhagen conference,” and Yvo de Boer, the head of the secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, said, “This is very significant in the sense that if (…) the Senate fails to adopt legislation (on emissions), then the administration will have the authority to regulate.”

Senator John Kerry (D-MA), too, applauded the EPA’s power grab and cautioned that the agency’s actions should send a message to Congress that if they don’t act, the President will have the authority to act anyhow, so they better get on board the train before it leaves the station without them. Quoth Kerry:

The message to Congress is crystal clear: get moving. If Congress does not pass legislation dealing with climate change, the administration is more than justified to use the EPA to impose new regulations.

Obama the czar-maker becomes the ultimate czar.

  1. EPA chief: The hacked e-mails change nothing

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lisa Jackson dismissed GOP calls to delay a critical finding on greenhouse emissions in light of hacked e-mails from climate scientists.

EPA documents released Monday state that greenhouse gases threaten human health — a finding that is a precursor to planned regulations controlling emissions from power plants, vehicles and other sources.

Republicans including House Oversight and Government Reform Committee ranking member Darrell Issa (Calif.) said e-mails among climate scientists hacked from a British research institute show holes in the case that humans are causing global warming.

Jackson disagreed. “There is nothing in the hacked e-mails that undermines the science upon which this decision is based,” Jackson said in announcing the finding this afternoon. She said the controversial messages dealt only with a tiny fraction of the strong evidence of global warming.

  2. Aliens Cause Global Warming

    Michael Crichton
Speech given at California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA
    January 17, 2003

An historical approach detailing how over the last thirty years scientists have begun to intermingle scientific and political claims.

My topic today sounds humorous but unfortunately I am serious. I am going to argue that extraterrestrials lie behind global warming. Or to speak more precisely, I will argue that a belief in extraterrestrials has paved the way, in a progression of steps, to a belief in global warming. Charting this progression of belief will be my task today.

Let me say at once that I have no desire to discourage anyone from believing in either extraterrestrials or global warming. That would be quite impossible to do. Rather, I want to discuss the history of several widely-publicized beliefs and to point to what I consider an emerging crisis in the whole enterprise of science-namely the increasingly uneasy relationship between hard science and public policy.

I have a special interest in this because of my own upbringing. I was born in the midst of World War II, and passed my formative years at the height of the Cold War. In school drills, I dutifully crawled under my desk in preparation for a nuclear attack.

It was a time of widespread fear and uncertainty, but even as a child I believed that science represented the best and greatest hope for mankind. Even to a child, the contrast was clear between the world of politics-a world of hate and danger, of irrational beliefs and fears, of mass manipulation and disgraceful blots on human history. In contrast, science held different values-international in scope, forging friendships and working relationships across national boundaries and political systems, encouraging a dispassionate habit of thought, and ultimately leading to fresh knowledge and technology that would benefit all mankind. The world might not be a very good place, but science would make it better. And it did. In my lifetime, science has largely fulfilled its promise. Science has been the great intellectual adventure of our age, and a great hope for our troubled and restless world.

  3. Glenn Beck played an ad by these global alarmists, yesterday, depicting polar bears raining out of the sky, passing skyscrapers and landing on cars parked along a city street.

Disgusting, especially when you consider that they probably chose this particular type of image to call to mind the attacks of 9/11. Why else?

This sort of snarky symbolism is typical of these progressive fanatics. That is, CO2 is the equivalent of a terror attack against innocent polar bears. The very act of flying is a terror attack against the Earth. (Although, one wonders how the elite got to Copenhagen? Did they walk? Do they, like Al Gore and Obama, walk on water?)

I read an interesting article about terrorism and how to defeat it. What was interesting is that one of the researchers actually used global warming as a method of “peacemaking”. From

    **start quote
In “How Globalization Spurs Terrorism: The Lopsided Benefits of One World and Why That Fuels Violence” (Praeger, 2008), Moghaddam argues that rapid globalization has forced disparate cultures into contact with one another and is threatening the domination or disappearance of some groups—a cultural version of “survival of the fittest.”

“You can interpret Islamic terrorism as one form of reaction to the perception that the fundamentalist way of life is under attack and is about to become extinct,” he says.

Because of such beliefs, psychologists are tracking public attitudes to determine how best to promote peace. Pyszczynki, for example, has conducted as-yet-unpublished research showing that people’s attitudes toward out-group violence can be changed if they are reminded of a common human problem. In two of his team’s recent studies, Americans coping with the “war on terror” and Palestinians in the midst of Israeli bombings were primed to think either about a local catastrophe or global warming. Some also received reminders of their own mortality. In both studies, only those primed with thoughts of both death and global warming increased their support for peacemaking activities.

“The really encouraging note is that even in the height of a conflict going on with your own people, reminders of mortality and a common cause reduces support for war and increases support for peacemaking,” Pyszczynki says.

    **end quote

It occured to me that in addition to promoting global redistribution of wealth, “leveling” the United States, and enriching Al Gore, GE, and other Obama pals, perhaps social “scientists” also believe that by providing the World with a common enemy (i.e., global warming), they are promoting peace and global harmony. These people are STEEPED in this kind of rhetoric and Kumbaya thinking. What do you think? Am I being too kind to them? Ascribing to them a POSSIBLE “good” motive for the global warming hoax, as opposed to the alternative–that they want to gather more and more power and wealth for the chosen elites?

  6. Copenhagen’s political science

    By Sarah Palin
    Wednesday, December 9, 2009

With the publication of damaging e-mails from a climate research center in Britain, the radical environmental movement appears to face a tipping point. The revelation of appalling actions by so-called climate change experts allows the American public to finally understand the concerns so many of us have articulated on this issue.

“Climate-gate,” as the e-mails and other documents from the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia have become known, exposes a highly politicized scientific circle — the same circle whose work underlies efforts at the Copenhagen climate change conference. The agenda-driven policies being pushed in Copenhagen won’t change the weather, but they would change our economy for the worse.

The e-mails reveal that leading climate “experts” deliberately destroyed records, manipulated data to “hide the decline” in global temperatures, and tried to silence their critics by preventing them from publishing in peer-reviewed journals. What’s more, the documents show that there was no real consensus even within the CRU crowd. Some scientists had strong doubts about the accuracy of estimates of temperatures from centuries ago, estimates used to back claims that more recent temperatures are rising at an alarming rate.

This scandal obviously calls into question the proposals being pushed in Copenhagen. I’ve always believed that policy should be based on sound science, not politics. As governor of Alaska, I took a stand against politicized science when I sued the federal government over its decision to list the polar bear as an endangered species despite the fact that the polar bear population had more than doubled. I got clobbered for my actions by radical environmentalists nationwide, but I stood by my view that adding a healthy species to the endangered list under the guise of “climate change impacts” was an abuse of the Endangered Species Act. This would have irreversibly hurt both Alaska’s economy and the nation’s, while also reducing opportunities for responsible development.

Our representatives in Copenhagen should remember that good environmental policymaking is about weighing real-world costs and benefits — not pursuing a political agenda. That’s not to say I deny the reality of some changes in climate — far from it. I saw the impact of changing weather patterns firsthand while serving as governor of our only Arctic state. I was one of the first governors to create a subcabinet to deal specifically with the issue and to recommend common-sense policies to respond to the coastal erosion, thawing permafrost and retreating sea ice that affect Alaska’s communities and infrastructure.

But while we recognize the occurrence of these natural, cyclical environmental trends, we can’t say with assurance that man’s activities cause weather changes. We can say, however, that any potential benefits of proposed emissions reduction policies are far outweighed by their economic costs. And those costs are real. Unlike the proposals China and India offered prior to Copenhagen — which actually allow them to increase their emissions — President Obama’s proposal calls for serious cuts in our own long-term carbon emissions. Meeting such targets would require Congress to pass its cap-and-tax plans, which will result in job losses and higher energy costs (as Obama admitted during the campaign). That’s not exactly what most Americans are hoping for these days. And as public opposition continues to stall Congress’s cap-and-tax legislation, Environmental Protection Agency bureaucrats plan to regulate carbon emissions themselves, doing an end run around the American people.

In fact, we’re not the only nation whose people are questioning climate change schemes. In the European Union, energy prices skyrocketed after it began a cap-and-tax program. Meanwhile, Australia’s Parliament recently defeated a cap-and-tax bill. Surely other nations will follow suit, particularly as the climate e-mail scandal continues to unfold.

In his inaugural address, President Obama declared his intention to “restore science to its rightful place.” But instead of staying home from Copenhagen and sending a message that the United States will not be a party to fraudulent scientific practices, the president has upped the ante. He plans to fly in at the climax of the conference in hopes of sealing a “deal.” Whatever deal he gets, it will be no deal for the American people. What Obama really hopes to bring home from Copenhagen is more pressure to pass the Democrats’ cap-and-tax proposal. This is a political move. The last thing America needs is misguided legislation that will raise taxes and cost jobs — particularly when the push for such legislation rests on agenda-driven science.

Without trustworthy science and with so much at stake, Americans should be wary about what comes out of this politicized conference. The president should boycott Copenhagen.

  7. One month

DEBKAfile’s military sources report that this message Iran’s defense minister Ahmad Vahidi brought to Damascus where he is attending a session of the high Iranian-Syrian defense committee which went into its second day Thursday, Dec. 10. Syrian defense minister Ali Habib is in the chair.

The Iranian visitor indicated that Tehran expects an Israeli attack within a month. According to Iranian intelligence, Jerusalem will take its green light from President Barack Obama’s forced admission after Christmas that his policy of dialogue and stiffer sanctions have failed in the face of Tehran’s rejection of the international proposal to send its enriched uranium for overseas processing.

“The countdown for war is coming close to its end,” said Vahidi to the joint defense committee. “And we must get our strategic partnership in shape ahead of time.”

The leitmotif of the Iranian defense secretary’s talks in Damascus was the fate Iran and Syria share and their strategic partnership as the only safeguards against what he called “‘American-backed Zionist aggression.” Syria must commit itself to joint military action against Israel, because “stronger defense ties between Iran and Syria are elements of deterrence in confronting the Zionist regime’s threats to the countries of the region.”

For the first, time, Gen. Vahidi openly threatened to respond to a possible Israel attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities by striking Israel’s “chemical, microbiological and banned nuclear weapons” production sites.

His message brought forth a tepid Syrian response: The Iranian news agency IRNA quoted Syrian Secretary of Defense Ali Habib as commenting early Thursday, December 10, that an attack on Iran by any party would be deemed an attack on Syria and draw commensurate retaliation.

But DEBKAfile’s military sources point out that comment did not satisfy Tehran because it is short of clear language pledging specific military action. Iranian officials mean to stay in Damascus and keep up the pressure until they elicit a firm, binding Syrian commitment to strike Israel on its ally’s behalf if Iran comes under attack.

Gen. Vahidi arrived in Damascus Tuesday aboard a special Iranian military aircraft. It carried the largest Iranian military delegation ever seen in the Syrian capital, representing every branch of Iran’s armed forces, Revolutionary Guards Corps and intelligence.

Preparations for coordinated retaliation for a potential Israeli attack also brought a top Hizballah delegation incoming from Lebanon to Damascus Tuesday night, Dec. 8, headed by its secretary general Hassan Nasrallah.

When they met, Syrian and Iranian military officials proposed that Hizballah and the Palestinian terrorist organizations start heating up Israel’s borders in the coming days to draw the attention from the world’s focus on the Iranian and Syrian nuclear programs.

Sunday, December 6, DEBKAfile’s Washington sources reported that the Obama administration was about to launch a campaign against Syria’s covert military nuclear program based on the “smoking gun” of traces of highly processed plutonium found by UN inspectors at the bombed Syrian-North Korean facility at Dir a-Zur. The campaign will focus on this finding as evidence of Iran’s covert nuclear activities and proliferation activities.

  8. The Obama Four-Year Plan to Remake America
    December 12, 2009 Snips

Among the primary objectives the Obama administration has set out to accomplish are a complete restructuring of our economy in accordance with the president’s socialist construct; the establishment of a federally run health care system; the reshaping of our military prowess into an obsolete commodity; a gradual consolidation under the Executive Branch of authority commonly delegated to the Judicial and the Legislative Branches; and finally, the legal prohibition of aired dissent from any assembly or media outlet which happens to disagree with the president or seeks to divulge the potentially deleterious effects of his policies.

…. objectives in terms of their respective strategies, if for no other reason than to offer some kind of preparatory grounds for resistance.

    1. The complete restructuring of our economy in accordance with Obama’s socialist construct.
    2. The establishment of a federally run health care system.
    3. The reshaping of our military prowess into an obsolete commodity.
    4. A gradual consolidation under the Executive Branch of authority commonly delegated to the Judicial and the Legislative Branches.
    5. The legal prohibition of aired dissent.

  9. Bachmann warns of imminent takeover of entire economy

Barney Frank Introduced Bill to Provide Perpetual Bailouts, under EXCLUSIVE CONTROL of the EXECUTIVE BRANCH!

(Dec. 11, 2009) — The Socialist Juggernaut lurches forward to snatch further power and deprive Americans of further liberties in what is, without exaggeration, the proposed destruction of the free market and the free economy in the United States.

Congressman Barney Frank (D-MA) has introduced a massive bill to give the executive branch authority to bail out any corporation, as often as it wants without Congressional control.

This fund will be initially financed by a massive new tax on financial institutions and is expected to take $55 billion out of the hands of small businesses and job creators, leading to a loss of as many as 450,000 jobs. Should that fund run dry, taxpayers are on the hook to replenish it. And unlike TARP, this bill authorizes the Treasury Department and the Federal Reserve to completely bypass congressional approval and directly provide such lifelines to flailing firms.

…this bill drastically expands the powers of the Fed to intervene in the private marketplace.

  10. It Seems All the Liars, Cheats and Thieves are heading the news these days. Scientist says nicely : Gore Lied.

Al Gore Gets It Wrong at Copenhagen Talks

(Dec. 15) — It is an inconvenient time for Al Gore to be fudging numbers on global climate change.

With the specter of the “Climategate” e-mails hanging ominously over the Copenhagen climate change summit, the former vice president told a crowd there on Monday that one scientist had predicted the polar ice cap would have no summer ice in five to seven years.

“These figures are fresh. Some of the models suggest to Dr. Maslowski that there is a 75 percent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during the summer months, could be completely ice-free within five to seven years,” Gore told the audience.

But the scientist Gore quoted, Dr. Wieslaw Maslowski of the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif., told the Times of London that he never said such a thing.

  11. Lord Monckton Gets BEAT UP and KNOCKED out at COPENHAGEN!!
    Dec. 17

Lord Monckton who warned the US about the Copenhagen Treaty and its attempt to take away US
sovereignty if Obama signed. He said global warming was a scam and wanted to debate Al Gore who declined. He was turned away from the meetings in Copenhagen even though a member. He said, “we are all accredited and invited to the conference and turned away by the UN.” “The police started to manhandle me, and I said please don’t do it. I did nothing to provoke the man. The policeman hit me from behind and knocked me out. Danish Police (under orders from the UN) are under lots of pressure after the last week.”

He was knocked to the ground, and was knocked out. “He hit me with a gloved hand. The volunteer ambulance took me away. The Danish volunteer looked after me, and they were very, very good.”

He was attacked from behind by NWO police thugs who were under pressure by the UN.

  12. Vowing to stop speaking and downsize his house…. Gore confesses: “I am a hypocrite”
    Dec. 18, 2009

“I am going to stop writing books about global warming—which will at once save millions of trees which are brutally cut down in order to print this drivel, and also cut down on the misinformation about global warming. I mean they have fudged that data so much that I do not even believe my own B.S. any more.”

  13. Lord Monckton’s Letter from Copenhagen Summit
by the Lord Viscount Monckton of Brenchley Snips

(Dec. 17, 2009: Copenhagen) — Today the gloves came off and the true purpose of the “global warming” scare became nakedly visible. Ugo Chavez, the Socialist president of Venezuela, blamed “global warming” on capitalism –
and received a standing ovation from very nearly all of the delegates, lamentably including those from those of the capitalist nations of the West that are on the far Left – and that means too many of them.

Today, as I lay in the snow with a cut knee, a bruised back, a banged head, a ruined suit, and a written-off coat, I wondered whether the brutality of the New World Order was moving closer than President Klaus – or any of us – had realized.

    • I think we have only begun to see “the police state”. Many people scoff when they hear of abuse by authority, it already happens more than most will accept.

As for the haters of capitalism, they sure love and desire the money that comes from it.
