Article from June 16, 2009 What You Need to Know About Barack Obama

This is an article from June 16, 2009, before the revolution in Libya, which explains O’s deals with Chrysler and Fiat and his relationship with Gaddafi’s Libya.
Courtesy of the June 2, 1986 Time Magazine article: “Fiat’s Silent Partners”
“…the company has been unable to escape an increasingly embarrassing problem: about 15% of its stock is owned by Libya, and two representatives from the land of Muammar Gaddafi sit on Fiat’s 25-member board…Fiat became entangled with Libya in 1976. The company was short of cash, and Gaddafi, who was piling up petrodollars, was not then generally viewed as a bankroller of terrorists. Fiat welcomed Libya’s investment of some $400 million…As Fiat has prospered, the value of Libya’s stock in the company has multiplied to an estimated $2.5 billion.”

Obama – Qaddafi Coincidence?
Scott Wheeler

Whose interest was President Obama serving when on March 30 he ordered Chrysler to either conclude a merger with Italian automaker Fiat within 30 days or lose federal bailout funds? That untimely announcement placed Chrysler in the untenable position of accepting whatever Fiat offered, literally cutting the legs out from under the struggling American carmaker’s negotiating platform. Some financial analysts had already determined that what Fiat was offering was a very bad deal for Chrysler. “The steal of the century,” Forbes columnist Jerry Flint wrote of the deal back in January, “Fiat gets Chrysler for next to no money, and American taxpayers must throw in $7 billion to make it happen.” By most accounts, Chrysler was in real trouble, but by announcing to the world that Chrysler had no other alternatives Obama effectively told Fiat that Chrysler would accept whatever they offered, eliminating Chrysler’s ability to cut a better deal.
Why would President Obama undercut a US company, involved in a heated negotiation, in favor of a foreign company’s interest? Clear answers are not available, but there is one very curious shareholder in Fiat that raises some interesting questions. The African nation of Libya owns at least a 2 to 3 percent stake in Fiat and thus makes Muammar Qaddafi, who controls the wealth of Libya, a direct beneficiary of the deal favoring Fiat.
Does Obama owe Qaddafi? That is a tough question to answer, but Obama’s record-shattering 700 million dollar presidential fundraising operation and a revealing speech made by Qaddafi nearly a year ago seems to undress Obama’s inexplicable sabotage of Chrysler’s negotiating position with Fiat. Before anyone was suspicious of the sources of Obama’s campaign funds, Qaddafi made a speech that was carried by al Jazeera on June 11, 2008 and translated by The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).
“All the people in the Arab and Islamic world and in Africa applauded this man. They welcomed him and prayed for him and for his success, and they may have even been involved in legitimate contribution campaigns to enable him to win the American presidency.”
Is Qaddafi revealing his knowledge of something that no one else even suspected at the time? Since Qaddafi’s June 08 speech other evidence has surfaced suggesting that Obama raised significant sums from dubious sources in Qaddafi’s neighborhood including tens of thousands of dollars the campaign was forced to return once it was revealed its origins were in Gaza, the Middle East. So far there has been very little interest in the sources of Obama’s massive fundraising, and with Democrats in control of both houses of Congress it is unlikely that there will be an investigation into what many believe is the most prolific fundraising abuse ever.
Qaddafi’s prescient speech didn’t end with his apparent knowledge of Obama’s sources of campaign funds. MEMRI’s translation also included Qaddafi’s foreknowledge that Obama’s campaign rhetoric about supporting Israel was just a head fake also.
“But we were taken by surprise when our African Kenyan brother who is an American national, made statements [about Jerusalem] that shocked all his supporters in the Arab world, in Africa, and in the Islamic world… As you know, this is the farce of elections – a person lies and lies to people, just so that they will vote for him,” Qaddafi stated in his speech that got no coverage from the main-stream American media. Since his election, it has been pro-Israel Americans who have been shocked at how quickly Obama’s policies turned hostile toward Israel, such as the 900 million in aid headed to Gaza after they attacked Israel with mortars late last year, and forcing Israel to negotiate with Hamas.
With the precision of a campaign insider, Qaddafi also predicted a recently announced Obama policy regarding Israel nearly a year ago:
“We thought he would say: ‘I have decided that if I win, I will monitor the Dimona nuclear plant, and the other WMDs in Israeli’s possession.”
Last week, a state department official announced that the Obama administration would pressure Israel to sign the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty that would allow Obama to inspect Israel’s nuclear weapons program, something the Israelis have kept secret since its inception.
What is most amazing is that the propaganda arm of the Middle East, the anti-American al-Jazeera network, has proven more informative about Obama’s Middle East policies than the sycophantic American media.

“What is happening in Libya differs from the aim of imposing a no-fly zone. And what we want is the protection of civilians and not the shelling of more civilians.”
– Amr Moussa, secretary general of the Arab League, condemning the U.S.-led air assault on Libya
“But the coalition is currently suffering from a lack of direction and waning support. [That didn't take long, did it? One day?]
Turkey blocked a bid to have NATO take over command of the operation, called Odyssey Dawn. The Arab League, which helped spur a sudden shift in the Obama administration late last week by calling for a no-fly zone, is now expressing misgivings about the size and ferocity of the effort.
The Russians and Chinese, who withheld a Security Council veto of a French-British-U.S. resolution allowing any military steps short of ground forces, are already tut-tutting the shock-and-aweish nature of the effort so far.” [Tut-tutting? See below what Putin says. Far from tut-tutting. You gotta love these lamestream asshats. Their covering for That One knows no bounds.]
Putin weighs in, after inexplicably abstaining when he had a chance to nix the effort. Why intervene when your enemy is hurting himself?
http://ca.news.yahoo.com/putin-likens-u-n-libya-resolution-crusade-calls-20110321-052402-752.html
“Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin Monday likened the U.N. Security Council resolution supporting military action in Libya to medieval calls for crusades.
Putin, in the first major remarks from a Russian leader since a coalition of Western countries began air strikes in Libya, said that Muammar Gaddafi’s government fell short of democracy but added that did not justify military intervention.
“The resolution is defective and flawed,” Putin told workers at a Russian ballistic missile factory. “It allows everything. It resembles medieval calls for crusades.” [Indeed it does; Putin is right on that count.]
Putin said that interference in other countries’ internal affairs has become a trend in U.S. foreign policy and that the events in Libya indicated that Russia should strengthen its own defense capabilities.” [Heck of a job, Barry. The law of unintended consequences. Or are they unintended?]
I forgot to opine upon the name: Odyssey Dawn. Now there’s a name to strike fear into the hearts of your enemies. New age blather. Or is it Newspeak? A lovely euphemism to cover up what WAR does to a population? Except it’s all roses and “dawn” when perpetrated by the progressives in this NWO.
Let’s not forget that Obama is getting jobs for the US while in Brazil! That is the Left’s spin. Why is he really there..he wants them to buy the US debt – loans! Japan is no longer going to be a debt buyer since they have some other major problems to handle. Meanwhile, Jarrett is doing the job in the US while Hillary is handling the War in Libya.
Can we get a photo of Obama with his feet up on the desk, shirt sleeves rolled up, appearing to be working hard and totally in charge of all the chaos that he has created? How about one showing Obama weakly kicking the soccer ball in Brazil!
I heard that he was playing ball. This was said in passing on the radio this morning. I didn’t understand what kind of ball. Oh, I can just imagine Barry “weakly kicking the soccer ball in Brazil.” He’s is SO freaking lame. Such an embarrassment.
http://gatewaypundit.rightnetwork.com/2011/03/obama-in-2007-dont-stay-in-iraq-over-genocide-obama-in-2011-we-must-protect-innocent-libyan-civilians/
More irony from the mouth of That One, who said when Bush was POTUS that “preventing a potential genocide in Iraq isn’t a good enough reason to keep U.S. forces there.” Uh, huh.
Barry’s problem is that he doesn’t YET have a suitable entity to employ people like Winston Smith. Jarrett is behind in instituting a Records Dept. in a Ministry of “Truth” to rewrite history, to conform what he said then to what he says now, or to change what he did in the past to fit present circumstances. However, if we don’t win this game, such a ministry will soon be in existence. Unofficially, its employees have already worked hard on rewriting his biography, after all. And disappearing his entire life history.
Breaking News! Huge Explosion heard in Libyan Capital city of Tripoli!
Gadaffi is using people as human shields..journalists are also being used as shields. Journalists are reporting this to be true. There are willing volunteers to be human shields..they are circling the Compound. They are circling Gadaffi’s compound in cars, honking horns, yelling and screaming. Soldiers are shedding their uniforms to look like the rebels so they can’t be distinguished from the rebels. There is a “festive” atmosphere!
Who is targeting Tripoli? It is now definitely a civil war. Tripoli has been in the hands of Gadaffi’s troops.
Anti-aircraft rounds heard in Tripoli.
UN rejects emergency meeting sought by Libya
(AP) – 7 hours ago
UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The U.N. Security Council on Monday rejected a Libyan request for an emergency meeting to halt what it called “military aggression” by France and the United States, but the council will get a briefing on Libya Thursday from the secretary-general.
Council members held closed-door discussions in response to a letter dated Saturday from Libyan Foreign Minister Musa Kousa who claimed that “an external conspiracy was targeting … (Libya) and its unity and territorial integrity.”
According to the letter, obtained by The Associated Press, Kousa accused France and the U.S. of bombing “several civilian sites” in violation of the U.N. Charter and called for “an emergency meeting in order to halt this aggression.”

Obama Letter to Congress on Libya Sparks Protests
MARCH 21, 2011, 6:44 P.M. ET Snips
WASHINGTON-President Barack Obama Monday formally notified Congress the U.S. had begun military attacks on Libya, prompting complaints from lawmakers that the president waged war without congressional consent, appearing to contradict his own previous position.
In a letter to congressional leaders, the president said the U.S. had “commenced operations to assist an international effort authorized by the United Nations (U.N.) Security Council” and “to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe and address the threat posed to international peace and security by the crisis in Libya.”
Mr. Obama’s notification letter does not satisfy the constitutional requirement that Congress approve military action, says Lou Fisher, former researcher with the Congressional Research Service and an expert on war powers. Mr. Fisher also raised objections to Mr. Obama citing United Nations authorization in his letter.
“It’s impossible for Congress to take its war powers and give it to the U.N.,” Mr. Fisher said. “Other than defensive actions—and there’s no defensive actions here—this has to be done by Congress.

O’Reilly Interview with Kucinich (D- OH) – Kucinich says he is going forward to cut off funds for the bombing and launching of a war in Libya. He says it is in the Constitution that Obama doesn’t have the authority to wage war without Congressional approval. Obama was supposed to come to Congress. Dennis didn’t know anything about it until Friday. This intervention is going to be another disaster like Iraq and Afghanistan. Obama doesn’t have unilateral authority to attack another country.
From that link you provided, Bridgette: “The White House said the president’s actions don’t contradict his earlier views, noting that the president met with a bipartisan group of lawmakers regarding Libya before any action took place.”
Maybe our pResident “constitutional scholar” needs a refresher course. He did seem to “get it” just a few years ago. The Constitutional standard is the Congress declares war or authorizes the action. It’s not that he meet in private with a select group of lawmakers. The standard is a FREAKING VOTE of the representatives of the PEOPLE, to whom he answers.
As I said, at least Kucinich is consistent. Good for him. Now he needs to push that impeachment.
More from the link,”is aimed at preventing an imminent humanitarian catastrophe that directly implicates the national security and foreign policy interests of the United States.”
Yeah, it NOW directly implicates national security–now we’re even more in the crosshairs of Islamist terrorists, by Barry’s own standards. Attacking a Muslim country and killing Muslim civilians equals we cause more Islamist radicalization and bring the attacks on ourselves.
Oh, but his Justice Dept. assures us that whatever he’s done is legal and constitutional. Yeah, and he’s eligible under the Constitution to be POTUS, too. NOT!
I’m really beginning to suspect that Barry’s goal is to decapitate Gadhafi before he blabs what he (and Farrakhan) know about Barry’s ancestry.
Food for thought: http://israelinsider.net/forum/topics/frank-gaffney-the-gaddafi?xg_source=msg_mes_network
“There are many reasons to be worried about the bridge-leap the Obama Administration has just undertaken in its war with Muamar Gaddafi. How it will all end is just one of them.
What I find particularly concerning is the prospect that what we might call the Qaddafi Precedent will be used in the not-too-distant future to justify and threaten the use of U.S. military forces against an American ally: Israel.”
A SCARY thought but plausible. Sacrifice Libya and Qaddafi for the “greater good” of setting the precedent so then they will be “forced” to treat the Jews the same as the Arabs.
I saw Bibi and he is most concerned about Libya. He said it is a fusing together of Radical Muslims with the Radical Left. It is the strangest union. What do they have in common, bashing Israel. If Obama feels free to go into Liby a, then he feels free to go everywhere.
Do you realize how fast the Arab League and other countries would come together for a resolution against Israel?
Then we have Farrakhan jockeying for a place…a voice…just like they do in Africa. He went on the radio warning Obama that the Muslims will rise up in this country and elsewhere if he goes against Gadaffi. Maybe because of those warnings, Obama thought he could make it look like he didn’t make the decision. He gave that authority to Hillary instead; so he could still look like the good guy because it wasn’t his decision alone. Therefore, he says the UN authorized the action, he didn’t. Diminishing the role of Congress and empowering the UN isn’t that what the NWO ordered? He has set the precedent giving supreme power to the UN, and where we are to follow them for international law. He has now set it up that the UN could issue a resolution against the U.S. also. Who does he think he is?
The buck stops with him.
Yes, he wants to IGNORE AND DIMINISH Contress and empower the UN. He’s done so and SOME Democrats actually are starting to sound AS IF they get it. Is it too late? Will they have the guts to stand up to him NOW? I wonder.
He thinks he’s the king of the world. So far, they’ve let him get away with flouting the Constitution with regard to sitting in the WH when he’s completely ineligible, so why not continue to ignore it and flout it? He has no respect for that “outdated” document.
FOX reports that the Lockerbie bomber left Libya before the bombing started! Isn’t that special. His death was supposed to occur within 3 months after his prison release. That presumed death within 3 months has turned into over 2 years.
Also they interviewed people on the ground and they say those fighting Gadaffi are not rebels, it is the people of the country that are against him. Those who are protecting Gadaffi are his family members and others. (they mentioned Africans). If they don’t protect him they will be killed. They do not want to be called rebels because they are just citizens.
A U.S. plane had mechanical problems and crashed in Libya. Both crewmen are safe. They landed in “rebel” territory. One is already back on the ship, the other one is being transported. They had minor injuries. Other planes in the air stated that the plane was not hit by a missile.
Breaking News – FOX
A POLITICAL STEERING COMMITTEE IS NOW GOING TO HANDLE THE NO FLY ZONE IN LIBYA! We are turning command of our forces over to a committee??
Our American troops are going to be handled by a friggin’ committee????
WHO IS DOING THE THINKING?
I read about this in the paper. Apparently, Turkey is miffed that they were left out of the planning meetings (I wonder why? hmmm? Just sayin’.) Some said that Turkey didn’t want NATO overseeing another military venture in an “Arab” (read Muslim) country. Then Turkey said, no, they didn’t say that. The paper said there were arguments over who would lead. My impression is not who gets to lead but who’s stuck leading this fiasco now? None of them want their names on it, but they’re stuck with it now.
They don’t know who they’re aiding and abetting,
They don’t know and didn’t plan for who would lead the no-fly zone.
They don’t know what kind of government will follow the chaos; it might be an Islamic State with sharia law. Would that be an improvement? So much for their concern over WOMEN’S RIGHTS.
Bridgette: It becomes apparent that NOBODY’S doing their thinking. This is what you get when progressives wage “war”. Odyssey Dawn, indeed.
They’ve created a mess and they realized it about one day after they did it and now nobody wants his or her name on it. Especially if it means that they will become targets of jihad–these asshat Europeans and Euro-wannabes like John Kerry, who had the gall to lecture Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld that they were “radicalizing” the Middle East, as if it needs any excuse to radicalize. The genie’s out of the bottle now and they’re trying desperately to stuff it back in. Can’t happen.
God help Israel.
Since When Does the United States Take Orders from the U.N.?
USURPER-IN-CHIEF UNCONSTITUTIONALLY ATTACKS LIBYAN TARGETS…HAS CONGRESS HAD ENOUGH YET?
by Sharon Rondeau
Obama “ordered the U.S. military to join U.N.-sanctioned international action against Gaddafi” in an act of treason against the United States of America by disregarding settled law and the U.S. Constitution. Ironically, Obama said that he gave the order for missile strikes under United Nations Resolution 1973.
Since when does the United States take orders from the United Nations?

Bridgette, The blackmail has to be huge for all of this to be happening. No one is talking Bridgette…
Gateway Pundit finds more hypocrisy by That One:
http://gatewaypundit.rightnetwork.com/
Barry in 2009:
“The message I hope to deliver is that democracy, rule of law, freedom of speech, freedom of religion — those are not simply principles of the west to be hoisted on these countries. But, rather what I believe to be universal principles that they can embrace and affirm as part of their national identity, the danger, I think, is when the United States, or any country, thinks that we can simply impose these values on another country with a different history and a different culture.”
Barry today:
“Obama and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke late Monday and “underscored their shared commitment to the goal of helping provide the Libyan people an opportunity to transform their country, by installing a democratic system that respects the people’s will,” according to a White House report on the phone call.
The rhetoric matches Obama’s reiteration on Monday that it is still U.S. policy that “Gadhafi needs to go.”
But it is a marked contrast to the U.S.-led military mission as defined by the U.N. resolution.”
Now this is really crazy:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_exclusive/obama-taking-heat-from-all-sides-for-libya-action
The story says, “If the criticism seems erratic, it is at least in part because the policy itself is nascent and amorphous, a moving target that’s tough to pin down. The Pentagon and White House have been meticulous in shying from any rhetoric that could bleed into talk of regime change—to the point that toppling Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi isn’t even an explicit U.S. goal—and from any cost-estimate figures. Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has carefully put on a short timeline the lifespan of the U.S. control of the operation, calling it a matter of days before command of the coalition is transferred to, presumably, predominantly French and British authority, another sign of how much American ambition abroad was changed by the recent history in Afghanistan and Iraq.”
But Gateway Pundit cites this:
Their goal is “‘installing a democratic system that respects the people’s will,’ according to a White House report on the phone call.”
And GP cites this: “The rhetoric matches Obama’s reiteration on Monday that it is still U.S. policy that ‘Gadhafi needs to go.’”
So does that sound like the WH is shying away from talk of regime change? Indeed the plan is amorphous and nascent. That’s how military campaigns need to be run. Does anybody remember seeing O’Reilly excoriate Rumsfeld over how things didn’t go as planned in the GWB wars? At least they had a plan, when things on the ground went sideways. This group doesn’t even have a plan to go sideways from.
Obama, The Accidental President
March 21, 2011
By Victor Volsky
The world is going to hell in a hand basket; Japan, ravaged by an earthquake and a tsunami of biblical proportions, is teetering on the brink of yet another, nuclear, disaster; the Middle East is aflame; the national debt is skyrocketing while Congressional Democrats and Republicans are mud-wrestling over the budget; gas prices are inexorably climbing to the psychologically devastating $4/gallon level — and meanwhile what is the U.S. President doing?

Obama in Exile
March 21, 2011 Snips
Obama is being chased by his own incompetence, forced to face it, unable to stare it down. Privately he must admit he is over his head and no one — not in the legislature, in the labor unions, in the deep pockets of George Soros nor the salons of liberal media apologists and sympathetic academics — can save his doomed presidency.
Obama is in full retreat. Disengaged and decoupled. A pathetic creature, soon to be deserving of mercy rather than scorn, if only his hubris were in lockstep full retreat. Is he guilty of desertion or mere dereliction? Desertion would be a harsh claim, but dereliction not so far fetched.
A president who voluntary withdraws — or at least sidesteps — from the duties of the office, is derelict, period. Even his own party faithful anxiously look for any sign of leadership coming from Obama, only to be turned away empty handed, yet again. Bereft of personal responsibility towards his fellow Americans, Obama has neither resigned nor renounced his citizenship. Yet through his apology tours has made us wonder whether renouncing his affinity for America and the leadership imperatives due the office would only be a public formality.
A president whose complete disregard for substantive political discourse in addressing the nation’s fiscal woes is derelict. Whether he is lazy, irresponsible or just overwhelmed, the signs point to a man bringing disrepute to the office for which self-imposed exile is his only way out. A president with enough time and energy to fill out a NCAA Final Four basketball tourney bracket but can’t find the time to attend to border security or assemble a meaningful budget incorporating the recommendations of his own deficit commission, is derelict.
A president who refuses to address the nation on the crisis in Libya and the humanitarian catastrophe in Japan, instead giving fourteen rogue Democrat state senators from Wisconsin directions to Morton’s Steak House in Chicago, is derelict.
The US Constitution doesn’t provide for succession if a president has imposed his own exile while still in office. Article II Sec 1 Clause 6 provides for succession if the president is unable to “discharge the duties and powers of said office”, yet the test for effective abdication, short of outright resignation has never been addressed. Temporary incapacity due to illness or surgery has been addressed — but what to do if the man refuses to get out of bed or simply walks away leaving no forwarding address?
The Presidential Records Act of 1978 requires the White House to be swept clean with all papers and records of the president leaving office be turned over to the National Archives. In an ABC news story upon the departure of Bill Clinton entitled “Law Requires Empty White House: Everything Must Go”, Ed Meese counselor and Attorney General under Ronald Reagan is quoted “When I walked in (post Jimmy Carter), there was not a piece of paper in the drawers. I think the only thing I found was a paper clip in one drawer,”
Someone needs to check the drawers in the White House right now to see if Obama has already gone.

Look who’s in line to replace Gadhafi
‘At the right time they will make the move, and we will see Shariah’
March 22, 2011
British cleric Anjem Choudary says al-Qaida and the Muslim Brotherhood have assets on the ground in Libya and are ready to take control if Moammar Gadhafi is removed from power.
The top Muslim cleric accuses the U. S. and French-led coalition trying to topple Gadhafi of working to install a puppet regime, but he says there are al-Qaida operatives in Libya who will stop the West from installing a friendly government.
“Al-Qaida has their own agents and their own people in the region who are propagating their own Islamic ideas and their agenda. At the right time they will make the move, and we will see the emergence of Islam and Shariah in that particular region,” Choudary said “The power vacuum is very useful for anyone who has an agenda and an alternative system to put in its place,” he said.

WSJ had a story (that I can’t link–no online subscription) that documented that the recent constitutional referendum in Egypt (rushed through) disenfranchised the students who led the uprising, who wanted real freedom and democracy, and the end result (surprise!) is that the religious leaders and the Muslim Brotherhood have ensured that Egypt remains Islamic and still has sharia law. Same will happen in Libya.
Obama Could Face Legal Limits to Military Effort in Libya if Intervention Drags On
March 22, 201
President Obama has entered something of a gray area by sending U.S. forces on a “humanitarian” mission in Libya, a conflict the administration won’t describe as either war or peacekeeping. But regardless of what it’s called, the president could soon run into serious political and congressional limitations. Not only is the decision to approve U.S. missile strikes on Muammar al-Qaddafi’s regime proving politically difficult, but under the War Powers Resolution he must win congressional approval within 60 days or withdraw U.S. forces.
Congress could also have its say long before that, should lawmakers decide to tie in the Libya issue to the ongoing debate over the budget. One Republican Senate aide predicted that lawmakers would demand a vote on Libya before agreeing to fund the government through the end of the fiscal year.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/03/22/obama-face-legal-limits-libyan-intervention-drags/#ixzz1HRQmoPcm
Yep. They’ll demand a vote and every damned complicit asshat in Congress will retroactively approve Barry’s excellent adventure. Barry says no ground troops, but how will they accomplish their mission, whatever it is (see the link that follows), without ground troops? Since Barry says it’s ruled out, we can probably be sure it will happen. Marines from Camp Lejeune are headed to Libya: http://www.wcti12.com/news/27257042/detail.html Marines for a no-fly zone? For air strikes?
Andrew McCarthy talks about who we’re supporting there: http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/262611/libyan-er-rebels-now-time-jihad-has-arrived-andrew-c-mccarthy “Now, the time of jihad has arrived!” “Allahu Akbar!”

“Libyans didn’t go to Iraq to fight; they went to blow themselves up — along with American G.I.’s. (Among those whose “work” was detailed in the al Qaeda records, 85 percent of the Libyans were listed as suicide bombers.) Overwhelmingly, these militants came “from cities in North‐East Libya, an area long known for Jihadi‐linked militancy.” [UPDATE: West Point's Combatting Terrorism Center refused to comment on its own report.]
A WikiLeaked cable from 2008 explained that Cyrenaicans were waging jihad against U.S. troops as “a last act of defiance against the Qadhafi regime.” After the U.S. normalized relations with Qaddaffi in 2006, Cyrenacians believed they no longer had any shot at toppling him:
Many easterners feared the U.S. would not allow Qadhafi’s regime to fall and therefore viewed direct confrontation with the GOL [Government of Libya] in the near-term as a fool’s errand…. Fighting against U.S. and coalition forces in Iraq represented a way for frustrated young radicals to strike a blow against both Qadhafi and against his perceived American backers.”
So who are we helping in Libya and why? This same astute writer reminds us that Gaddafi has WMD; what will become of them? Will they fall into the hands of aforementioned jihadists who hate Americans, except when they want our firepower, until they get power and then will hate us again?
http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/blogs/national-affairs/where-are-libyas-wmd-20110224
Obama, Let me be clear…the US will not send ground troops to Libya!
About 2,200 Marines from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, or 26th MEU will take part. Their mission is to help end the violence directed at the Libyan people.
“In Libya right now they are doing exactly what we need them to do. They are doing what they are told and right now that’s protecting Libyan people against Qadhafi forces,” said Captain Timothy Patrick, a Marine with the 26th MEU.
All together now…. Obama, what in the Hell is the objective of this war?
Anybody?
A mission without a clear cut mission.

It was buried in a private ceremony by Mr. Barack Obama of Chicago as he silently signed America on to the One World Government some of us have been worried about for decades.
Look at it this way: Where did Mr. Obama get the authority to commit United States forces to war in Libya? There was no declaration of war. There was no authorizing resolution by Congress allowing money to be spent on a war against Col. Gaddafi. As far as I know, there was no meeting of Mr. Obama and top leaders of Congress to discuss the subject in even rough form, let alone detail. There was no lengthy buildup in which the Congress was “allowed” to express the people’s opinion on whether we want to be in a third concurrent war.
There was just a vote by the United Nations Security Council, a very far from unanimous vote, and suddenly, the President’s Secretary of State, Mrs. Hillary Rodham Clinton, solemnly announced that we were at war.
But, when did we amend the Constitution to declare that the United Nations had control over our military? When did we abolish the part of the Constitution that said Congress had the right to declare war? Now, I well know that in recent postwar conflicts, we don’t have declarations of war. But we have Congressional debates. We have funding votes. We have a sense of the Congress or some kind of resolution.
This time, zip. Nada. Nothing. Just France and the U.K. and Norway saying that it’s time to go to war, and off America goes to war. And off Mr. and Mrs. Obama go to a South American “fact finding” trip for the POTUS and a fun sightseeing junket for the Obama girls.
(I wonder if there has ever before in history been a national leader who sent his country to war — and the same day went off on vacation. Has that ever happened before? )
Something’s missing here. Libya and Col. Gaddafi were and are no threat to the United States. It is sad and cruel that the Gaddafi regime was murdering its own civilians, but so do many governments all across the world, including North Korea, Iran, the Ivory Coast, Zimbabwe, and Cuba. Are we going to war with all of them, now?
Meanwhile, again, what the heck happened to the Constitution? Is this Mr. Obama’s legacy to our children? The junking of the Constitution in the middle of the night and the turnover of our sovereignty to the United Nations? (By the way, this is the same UN where Libya until recently sat on the Commission on Human Rights.) Why aren’t any questions being asked? Is the Constitution that meaningless to us? Are we that pitiful now? Are we willing to toss overboard the Constitution for the writ of the United Nations? I guess so. Sad days.

That’s a great article, Bridgette. What happened to the Constitution? Well, it started when they allowed Barry to thumb his nose at the eligibility requirements. Green light! Andrew McCarthy posits the exact same excuse for how he can do this end run around the Constitution: “That’s why I argue that, although President Obama’s unilateral commencement of a war against Libya is constitutionally wrong, he clearly has the power to do what he has done, for there are no legal remedies. This is a political dispute, not a legal one. Congress, if it is so disposed, will have to flex its competing constitutional muscles to rein the executive branch in. The courts should not, and almost certainly will not, intervene.” A slippery slope and the complicit Congress started it. Now they have to deal with it but my guess, sadly, is that they will again tuck tail and acquiesce. A sorry precedent. http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/262771/political-dispute-not-legal-one-andrew-c-mccarthy
O’Reilly and Megyn Kelly were giving Barry cover last night, as usual. Megyn said presidents have done this for 40 years. I’m not sure that’s exactly true, but does it matter? O’Reilly, so unlike when he interviewed Rumsfeld and excoriated HIM for not laying out to the American people and to O’Reilly prior to the Iraq war EVERYTHING THAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG, is carrying water for Barry. Why the double standard, O’Reilly? Is it because Barry’s black? Is it because he’s so obviously out of his league? That Rumsfeld is SO intelligent, so smart, so full of leadership, that he is held to a much higher standard, while Barry, our first affirmative action POTUS is given a paternalistic pass?
Last night, on FOX, I saw Newt Gingrich, Donald Rumsfeld, and Henry Kissinger interviewed. I must tell you that there were tears in my eyes because I am so sad when I see what has become of our Republic, what’s happening to us as a nation as a result of having this group of JUVENILES in the WH, how much we have LOST when we lost LEADERS like the three that I saw last night. If only ANY OF THEM were POTUS now. We need ADULTS in the WH. ANY ADULT. PLEASE. Pick one at random off the street and he or she, if LOYAL, will do a better job than these jerks.
Barry won’t have to worry about prematurely saying “Mission Accomplished”. Because there IS NO MISSION. Both Gingrich and Kissinger implied that that’s partially why Barry didn’t consult with Congress–he couldn’t DEFINE any mission. HE still can’t. But wait! I heard this morning on the radio that Barry says he’s sure he’ll be able to say that they have instituted a “functional no-fly zone.” So that’s the amorphous mission: Functional no-fly zone.
Barry pretends that he met the terms of the War Powers RESOLUTION by calling in a few Congressional leaders (which?) and INFORMING them of his DECISION. Not consulting them. Informing them, like the dictator that he thinks he is. And which Congress apparently will allow him to be, since there’s no LEGAL “remedy”. And courts won’t intervene.
Just like there’s no “legal remedy” for an ineligible person sitting in the WH, unconstitutionally ordering brave troops (but not LTC Lakin) into combat. Just like the courts won’t “intervene” in that issue, either. And just like the complicit Congress won’t do what they are well able to do to put an end to his unconstitutional presidency. IMPEACH HIM. Now.
On another note: Barry and peeps did take note of the criticism about him tripping off to Rio on the same day as he started a war. So, the headlines/sound bites last night said, “The President is cutting short his trip and returning to DC to deal with the Libyan situation.” Oh, yes. Indeed. Notice the implication. He’s got to rush back. He’s in charge. His leadership is needed and he’s responding. So how much do you imagine he cut this trip short by? Wait for it . . .
A few HOURS. All a bunch of Kabuki theater. They don’t say “cut short by a few hours.” Complicit, lying, asshat media giving him cover to photoshop the TRUTHFUL image of a disengaged POTUS into something more palatable for the American public.
I saw the interviews last night and felt the same way as you did. Never in my wildest dreams could I believe that one man and his backers could be as destructive to our country as what has happened in the last two years.
Really. I never did like Kissinger much, but I would love him as POTUS today, old as he is and as hard to understand as he is. He’s far better than that juvenile Barry. Kissenger was actually shaking his head. Trying to be diplomatic but body language said it all.
Soros fingerprints on Libya bombing
Leftist mastermind puts up big bucks to erase borders
March 23, 2011
Philanthropist billionaire George Soros is a primary funder and key proponent of the global organization that promotes the military doctrine used by the Obama administration to justify the recent airstrikes targeting the regime of Moammar Gadhafi in Libya.
The activist who founded and coined the name of the doctrine, “Responsibility to Protect,” sits on several key organizations alongside Soros. Also, the Soros-funded global group that promotes Responsibility to Protect is closely tied to Samantha Power, the National Security Council special adviser to Obama on human rights.
Power has been a champion of the doctrine and is, herself, deeply tied to the doctrine’s founder. According to reports, Power was instrumental in convincing Obama to act against Libya.
The Responsibility to Protect doctrine has been described by its founders and proponents, including Soros, as promoting global governance while allowing the international community to penetrate a nation state’s borders under certain conditions.
Libya regarded as test of global doctrine!
The joint U.S. and international air strikes targeting Libya are widely regarded as a test of Responsibility to Protect – which is a set of principles, now backed by the United Nations, based on the idea that sovereignty is not a privilege, but a responsibility.
According to the principle, any state’s sovereignty can be overrun, including with the use of military force, if the international community decides it must act to halt what it determines to be genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity or ethnic cleansing.
The term “war crimes” has at times been indiscriminately used by various U.N.-backed international bodies, including the International Criminal Court, or ICC, which applied it to Israeli anti-terror operations in the Gaza Strip. There has been fear the ICC could be used to prosecute U.S. troops.
An organization calling itself the Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect is the world’s leading champion of the doctrine. Activist Gareth Evans, who sits on the global group’s advisory board, is widely regarded as the founder of the Responsibility to Protect principle.
Soros’ Open Society Institute is one of only three nongovernmental funders of the Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect. Government sponsors include Australia, Belgium, Canada, the Netherlands, Norway, Rwanda and the U.K.
Board members of the group include former U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, former Ireland President Mary Robinson, and South African activist Desmond Tutu. Robinson and Tutu have recently made solidarity visits to the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip as members of a group called The Elders, which includes former President Jimmy Carter.

The Elders are an independent group of eminent global leaders, brought together by Nelson Mandela, who offer their collective influence and experience to support peace building, help address major causes of human suffering and promote the shared interests of humanity.
Founded in 2007 with the support of Virgin Unite and a great group of partners, The Elders comprises ten VISIONARY leaders including Graça Machel, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Kofi Annan and President Carter. They work both publicly and behind the scenes, collectively and individually, in areas of conflict such as; Kenya, Cyprus, Darfur and Zimbabwe and also work on a number of global issues, such as health and gender equality.

Glenn Beck is covering this story today.
The big news is that Samantha Power is married to Cass Sunstein!
Samantha Power -wrote the book ” The Problem from Hell.” All about genocide. It is also an Anti-Israel book. She left Harvard to work for Obama as his foreign policy adviser.
Her suggestions that Israel be defunded and instead the money spent on Palestine. In fact, the money should be used to create a Palestinian force to protect against Israel. They need a mammoth protection force.
Geoge Soros took her idea and funded an organization, “Responsibility to Protect.” One of the funders is listed as Soros’ Open Society.
All roads lead to Soros………
White House: Libya fight is not war, it’s ‘kinetic military action’
03/23/11 snips
In the last few days, Obama administration officials have frequently faced the question: Is the fighting in Libya a war? From military officers to White House spokesmen up to the president himself, the answer is no. But that leaves the question: What is it?
In a briefing on board Air Force One Wednesday, deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes took a crack at an answer. “I think what we are doing is enforcing a resolution that has a very clear set of goals, which is protecting the Libyan people, averting a humanitarian crisis, and setting up a no-fly zone,” Rhodes said. “Obviously that involves kinetic military action, particularly on the front end.”
As common as “kinetic” might be among those in government, it still seems likely to strike members of the public as a euphemism that allows the Obama administration to describe a war as something other than a war

Libya: Nato Refuses Military Ops Command
Led into war by a president who can’t be trusted
03/23/11 snips
Americans will have a hard time supporting President Obama’s war in Libya — because the United States is already fighting two wars, because the president never publicly made the case for involvement, because Congress never authorized the war, and because there are no identifiable American interests.
But just as important, for those Americans paying close attention, is the growing realization that the president can’t be trusted. His assurances that America’s military role in Libya will be limited in scope and duration carry little weight after the lies and evasions of his top aides. Not even a week into our war on Libya, the White House has already peppered Americans with a handful of falsehoods, equivocations and misleading statements.
Very simply, President Obama’s actions don’t match candidate Obama’s rhetoric, but the administration twists words and facts to try and hide any discrepancy.
In domestic policy, this game has been played plenty of times: Obama makes a promise, Obama breaks the promise, Obama plays Clintonian word games to pretend he kept his promise.
This is a president who apparently does not mind twisting words and flatly misleading his people. On tax deductions and the revolving door, this sort of prevarication is offensive. On matters of war, Obama’s tenuous relationship with the truth is far more disturbing

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0311/51843.html
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) escalated his critique of President Barack Obama’s handling of military operations in Libya Wednesday, sending the president a scathing letter that demands answers to the run-up to engagement in the region and hits the White House for first consulting the United Nations and the Arab League, but not Congress.
Boehner’s letter, though, escalates their position against the White House. Given Boehner’s methodical, and deliberate messaging strategy, the questions he posed are likely to keep surfacing until sufficient answers are given to Congress.
The questions touch on the U.N. resolution, among other things. Boehner notes that the U.S. has said Col. Mommar Qadhafi should step down, but the resolution does not indicate a similar goal. Given that, Boehner asks if it would be acceptable for Qadhafi to stay in power, how he’d be removed from power, and why the U.S. would “commit American resources to enforcing a U.N. resolution that is inconsistent with our stated policy goals and national interest.”
BREAKING NEWS – FOX –
All 28 members agreed to enforce no-fly zone in Libya a short time ago and to have NATO take over the command. Hillary is supposed to notify us.
Our American forces are to be put under NATO command.
HILLARY’S going to address the nation? Not Barry? WTF is going on here?
Laura Ingraham says she has many emails from members of the Armed Forces. They are very concerned about the status of our armaments–especially the planes, which are old, under stress because of all the missions in the Middle East, with no plans to repair/replace them. Just now, on my local news, they put the cost so far of the Tomahawks we’ve used at $300 million. With planes, fuel, other equipment and all other expenses, expected cost as much as $800 million, but of course how can they say? They haven’t a clue how long this will go on. Speculation, as O’Reilly would say.
Dick Morris and Rumsfeld and others talked about “mission creep,” which we already see. NO ground troops, Barry says. Yet they’re already talking AS IF “special forces” aren’t “boots on the ground” or “ground troops”. Marines from Lejeune on their way, 2000 of them. To do what? Search and rescue, is what they imply. 2000 searchers?
Now NATO or others will be in charge, so that means OUR TROOPS will be under the command of foreigners? Which ones? Even the Arabs, like the “allies” from Qatar? So what is our Commander in Chief’s role? Abdicating one of the main roles of a president. (Abdication has a nice sound to it.) He’s again voting “present” except he wasn’t present, he was in Rio.
He claims he advised Congress several times of his plans. His job isn’t to advise them. His job is to ask their permission. He commands the armed forces, but CONGRESS declares war. He has 45 (or is it 60?) days to get approval or Congress can end the mission. Will they have the guts to cut off funds? They should. This is a travesty and a fool’s errand. Of course, with a fool as CiC, what else could we expect?
My point about the status of the armaments (planes, tanks, etc.) is that it’s all good for Barry. His GOAL is to diminish our power and our military. So throwing all our missiles at Libya helps reduce the number of arms. Unilateral disarmament while at the same time making sure there’s no money in the budget to replenish. Ruining the economy. It’s all good for Barry. All serves his goal.
OT but did you notice that in Brazil the Grecian Formula was back, as was the creepy little pencil-mustache?
I guess it was time for him to appear youthful and energetic while in Brazil! The coward blew out of town after sending a letter to Congress saying as Commander in Chief I am going along with the UN’s decision to bomb Libya. Catch me when I return if you have any objections! Meanwhile, I need to learn the Samba.
O’Reilly had a couple men on (Col. David Hunt, Lt. Col. Tony
Shaffer former army intelligence officer ), who said that over 2,000 boots were on the ground 3 weeks ago..special ops, i.e. green berets, seals, etc. That information isn’t made public for their safety. They are the ones determining bombing targets or marking them as targets, they have laser designators to put on the targets. The military doesn’t perform this type operation without having troops on the ground. These are covert activities and these guys do intel work. They are not in uniform. So now add the additional 2,000 from LeJeune and that seems to me that we have 4,000+ troops on the ground.
Obama’s new definition of “no troops” = 4,000 men from the US military!
Let me be clear…no troops!

Gates was in Russia?
Reporter’s notebook: Gates makes big noise in Russia, but not on Libya
March 22, 2011 | Charley Keyes
Defense Secretary Robert Gates did not speak about Libya during public events in St. Petersburg on Monday, while being kept briefed in private about developments in the U.S. and military action there.
He did mention Libya in passing when talking with some Russian naval officers, though, said Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell. Later, at a photo-op, a Russian journalist asked a question about Libya, but Morrell interrupted before Gates could answer.
This trip to Russia, tackling big issues like missile defense and the future of Afghanistan, also is a farewell tour of sorts for Gates, who still won’t pin down when he will leave his post.
http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/03/21/gates.russia.highlights/index.html?iref=allsearch
My guess is that he’ll leave as soon as possible so when this fiasco blows up in their faces, it won’t be on his resume.
Secretary of State Clinton says Gaddafi exploring exile options

Where is the Constitution?
March 21, 2011 1:00 am Eastern
President Obama swore an oath to “… preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.” He should have sworn to obey it.
Congress, alone, has the power to declare war, and to make all the laws necessary to engage in military conflict. The War Powers Act defines precisely what is required of the president before military action may commence.
Obama launched 118 missiles and dropped 40 bombs on Libya without a thought about Congress or the Constitution.
He was quite concerned, however, about the United Nations. He hardly noticed the attacks on protesters until the United Nations Security Council approved a resolution authorizing the use of force against the Libyan government. Within hours after U.N. approval, the U.S. military was engaged – without the knowledge or approval of Congress.
This event is proof-positive evidence of two staggering realities: Obama refuses to accept the limitations on government, and particularly on his office, imposed by the Constitution, and Obama considers the United Nations to be a higher authority than Congress.
This event should be grounds for severe congressional censure, if not impeachment.
When President Bush bombed Iraq, he had congressional approval. Nevertheless, the left went berserk in protest, claiming that “Bush lied; people died.” In response to a question from a Boston Globe reporter, Obama said: “As president, I will not assert a constitutional authority to deploy troops in a manner contrary to an express limit imposed by Congress and adopted into law” (Source: Boston Globe questionnaire on Executive Power Dec 20, 2007).
Obviously, Obama lied; people died. Where are the leftist protesters?

“Responsibility to Protect” – The End of National Sovereignty As We Know It?
Saturday, March 26, 2011 Snips
Why Did U.S. President Barack Obama order a military attack on Libya? Why did he seek the permission of the United Nations Security Council, but not that of the U.S. Congress – as he is constitutionally obliged to do?
Glenn Beck has explained President Obama’s decision to attack Libya in terms of the United Nations’ “Responsibility to Protect Doctrine”
Mr Beck is right.
According to Radio Free Europe
Those who justify the Libyan intervention on humanitarian grounds draw much of their logic from a concept which has dramatically gained ground over recent decades. The concept is known as “R2P,” shorthand for the world’s “Responsibility to Protect” civilians.
But what does this catchy little phrase mean? Where did it come from? What are its implications?

Barack Obama, International Community Organizer
Mar. 26
In 1986, President Ronald Reagan announced to the American people that the United States had begun bombing Libya. In his statement, President Reagan referred to Libyan dictator, Muammar al-Qaddafi, as a “monstrous murderer.” Here, he described Qaddafi’s heinous crimes against the Libyan people, Americans, and citizens of other countries.
Snip
And it appears the president’s “U.N. permission” is slowly being rescinded as Russia refers to the Libyan war as a “medieval crusade,” and there is suggestion that President Obama return his Nobel Peace Prize, while Brazil and China both call for a cease-fire. As resolutions go, why anyone would put our money on the U.N. is beyond comprehension.
While the Libyan effort falls apart, the president and his adoring media still express pride in his ability to “organize” the nations of the world into a “one for all and all for one” operation. Cool. But the fact is that when there is no leader, most things fall apart.
Barack Obama is still living the life of a “community organizer.” Only now, it’s on an international level.

Bilderberg Insider: Kissinger Pushing For US Ground Invasion Of Libya
Globalists want protracted war to last through 2012
Friday, April 22, 2011 9:20 am
Despite the fact that the United States is embroiled in three major conflicts and can barely service its own gigantic debt, with Standard and Poor this week indicating the US will soon lose its triple-A credit rating, top globalist and former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger recently told fellow elitists at three different globalist confabs that the US needs to launch a ground invasion of Libya and keep the war running for at least another year.
In addition, Kissinger was keen to voice his displeasure at the fact that certain media publications, which the globalists normally rely on to keep such information under wraps, had leaked the news that Al-Qaeda terrorists were playing a key role in helping the Libyan rebels and NATO fight Gaddafi. This information “being forced into the national press makes it more difficult” to sell the invasion of Libya, Kissinger said, according to Tucker’s source.
The endgame of the war in Libya is to further isolate Iran in preparation for a US-led attack carried out in the name of protecting Israel.

Gadhafi Threatens Attacks in Europe If NATO Continues Air Campaign
Friday, 01 Jul 2011 01:16 PM
TRIPOLI, Libya — A defiant Moammar Gadhafi is threatening to carry out attacks in Europe unless NATO halts its campaign of airstrikes against his regime in Libya. Gadhafi delivered the warning Friday in an audio message played to thousands of supporters gathered in the main square of the capital Tripoli.
Gadhafi says that unless strikes stop, “we can decide to treat you in a similar way.” He says that “if we decide, we can also move it (the fight) to Europe.”
Friday’s was one of the largest pro-government rallies in recent weeks. It came days after the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Gadhafi and two others for crushing an uprising that turned into a civil war. NATO has been bombing government targets since March.

Libyan rebels: Gadhafi’s son captured trying to flee port city
Oct. 10 2011
Three officials representing Libya’s National Transitional Council (NTC) told Reuters on Wednesday that Muammar Gadhafi’s son Mo’tassim was captured in Sirte on Tuesday, trying to escape the town in a car with a family.
He was taken to Benghazi on Wednesday morning where he was questioned, they said. They gave no further details. The NTC officials, based in Sirte and Benghazi, declined to be named but have provided accurate information to Reuters before.
